CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Claude (John Savage) is welcomed by the hippies with a song about him.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Milos Forman's adaptation of the tribal rock musical Hair stars John Savage as Claude, a quiet young man from the Midwest who becomes friendly with a group of New York hippies on his way to begin basic training in the military. The repressed Claude is quite taken with Berger (Treat Williams) and the group of freedom seekers who reside in Central Park. The group encourages Claude to go after a debutante named Sheila (Beverly D'Angelo). Legendary choreographer Twyla Tharp masterminded the dances, which attempt to flow from the natural settings of the film. The film includes most of the more famous songs from the original play, including "Donna," "Aquarius," "Easy to Be Hard," "Let the Sunshine In," "Good Morning Starshine," and the title number.

Rest in Peace Treat Williams. Condolences to his family, friends, and loved ones.
I just found out he passed away and I’m so heartbroken. That man was one of the first crushes I ever had. Funny enough my current boyfriend favors him a lot ha in both looks and personality.
I think I saw Hair in just about every major city back then and Treat was the best Berger.
I absolutely loved Treat Williams in HAIR. I must have listened to that soundtrack a million times. 💔😿
Me too
When I was a teenager, my friend and I took the train to Toronto, spent our babysitting money at the Eaton Centre, and saw Hair at the mall cinema, during its first run. One of the most powerful movies I’ve ever seen and one of the best days of my life.
RIP Treat Williams, age 71
Died June, 12th, 2023 cause of death, motorcycle accident.
This hit me hard when i heard the news.❤❤❤❤
🥺🥺
Just heard the news and thought of this. RIP Treat Williams 😥
Not as hard as it hit him.

You will be remembered as a legend.
Omg i didn't know!
RIP Treat - you gave us years of entertainment:)) Thank you!
Hair has always been my favourite musical. No other musical has ever touched me like this one.

Treat a Williams and John Savage: Really great talents.
RIP Treat Williams, you were amazing. 😭😭😭
My favorite movie since I was 6, I'm so sad we lost Treat Williams aka Burger. RIP
There is no Hair without Treat as George. RIP
Just been introduced to this scene. Treat William's singing made me listen nonstop.

R.I.P Treat Williams :( December 1, 1951 - June 12, 2023
RIP Treat Williams (The heart ❤️ of Hollywood)!
Rest in Piece Treat. Will miss you forever
RIP Treat thank you for such a fine career and being an exemplary human. You will be missed.
The best movie ever. 🌼
I wondered if it would hold up on Blu-ray and ran thru a powerful sound system. Omg, idk what I was worried about. It was like seeing it again for the first time.
The original writers of the play ...in their opinion....the movie still has not been made....
@@edc4517 I've read this, too. But IMO the movie version is better than what the original writers did. The stage play had barely any storyline to it and was more like a concert of the songs, with only minimal dialog joining them together. This would not make for a good movie. Milos Foreman put a lot more attention and depth into telling a story, and that makes a lot of the songs more meaningful. The ending with Berger's sad demise is much more emotional than the original ending.
Trat Williams , the wonderful Bergher. The one who oppened the minds of many people at that time! 💝
Rest In Peace Treat. 😢
RIP Treat here in the best filmed musical ever. You was great !
RIP, Treat.
R.I.P. Treat Williams
RIP Treat Williams
R.I.P 😔
OMG, so sad... just reading this now. Was in NYC last week for first time and sang all the songs in my head in the locations that were used in this film. Central Park will always remind me of HAIR! RIP
RIP, Treat Williams 😢
It’s sad because he says it when he’s going to war
thanks, i wouldn't have had a clue
Kowalski Shows Up in an Officer's Uniform and Realizes The Empty Beds and runs after The Airplane
This works because of the outstanding choreography and Treat Williams enormous strength. John Savage may not be the tallest actor, but he's built.
Moving him around like that took skill and strength. (Yes, dears, I'm aware they're all in their seventies today. This was then.)
also works because that bassline is able to create an earthquake
I know, all the actors were so talented in this movie.
Treat Williams is amazing.

Puro guarumo
Well, this is a good musical, very well sung, arranged, choreographed nicely, etc... but at my age now, the story is ... how to put it, too silly to watch it again. It reminds of what "Convoy" is to truckers, and this is, or was, to 15-24 year olds of that time.
Just a terrible song.
Fellini, Antonioni, Polanski... What???
And why does he start going on about Manchester?
As far as I can recall, there's no prior mention of Manchester in the film so why is it in the song?
Is it something that's explained in the original musical?
Well, in the original musical he tells them he’s from Manchester and sings this song. But here they just use it to mean he’s from far away. Like, he’s fresh from Oklahoma about to join the military, he might as well be from another world. That’s why they say he’s “fresh off the boat” right before the song starts (also he’s tripping and they say he got back from a “trip”….get it? Haha, so there’s a double meaning there too)
@@E-eb6ic But if they cut out the part where he says he's from Manchester then the song is confusing and doesn't make sense.
@@ppuh6tfrz646 Only confusing if you're an idiot, most people can follow just fine.
RIP Treat Williams he should have done way more musicals
