Also here in the Netherlands, a few weeks back, I was buiying bobba tea (or was it taro taro) from an Vietnamese stall, there Whas a groep of Asians sitting there, and some youngsters bycycled by and said: " he bah corona!" At loud Which means "he yuck corona!" It felt very bad. My product I bought was tasty and did not make me sick. I also often buiy belgian fries in the same ally, it's like a small "china ally", but they are not all from China.
@@CupofTJ Here in NY too. Awful that all these businesses are hurting. Hate crimes here but thankfully they've made some arrests. The ignorant and racist comments online just keep coming. I wonder about the residual effects, like when Asians are traveling abroad a year later, 5 years later, etc. Will Asians still be targeted for this?
The whole time growing up in Metromanila, I've only been once in Binondo to eat as it was considered uncool place. Now all I want to do is when I visit the Philippines again, Binondo will be on top of my list.

I'm 45km from Manila but since Pandemic can't venture to Divisoria/Binondo area. I like to eat the lumpia.. so big and tasty. The good one is with chili..😋

I guess i have to wait 'til the next cool breeze to be there, (and hoping to say hi to you) Thank you TJ for featuring and supporting Filipino-Chinese Food. My gahd, it makes me want to go back to food tripping in Binondo. Again, salamat TJ.
I'm very happy with this episode, seeing how you enjoyed the food I grew up with. My best food combination is Kiampong rice and Pork Asado or Beef Stew.
Tried nearly everything you ate. 🤣 But i'd want you to try Eng bee tin's salted egg yolk lava pao, and soup no.5 of cafe mezanine. And yes to collab with Strictly Dumpling! More power! 😉❤️
@@randazoo if thats last year ok. But i doubt it the background tells us that it was just recently like 2-3 weeks. Binondo is a crowded place but look at her background very few people.
Missing you and your awesome vlogs from Shihpai (石牌) here in Beitou, Taipei. Wow, the dishes in Manila's Chinatown are somewhat similar to what we have in Taiwan, but also different. I notice the food is more of the classic style that you see in Hong Kong and other parts of China. Oh, the stuff with Ube looks yummy! Nope, I don't think we don't have that here although we do have dishes and snacks that use taro (芋頭). Hope you are enjoying the Philippines! Although I was born and raised in Taiwan, I did spend a few years in Manila. Btw, due to the Coronavirus outbreak, do you have to self-quarantine when you arrive back in Taipei? Unlike China, Hong Kong, and some other countries, I think the Philippines is not a high risk area, right? Anyways, God bless and be safe, TJ! 😁💕
Ube is oftentimes confused with Taro but they are totally different. Ube is only grown in the Philippines and it's used to flavor different desserts as well. Hope you can try!

I love red kiamoy. I sometimes even dip it in sweetened vinegar (overkill) when i get the salty ones. It's like their version of jerkies but much much much better. I always get the sweet and spicy variation. It's addicting!. They also have what's called mahu (i think). It's like sweetened pork floss you can eat as is before they got famous as a topping for breads like the one in BreadTalk (another must try though not in Binondo). ^_^
