Arrived from Philly in 1964 age 17, attended SMCC, started the first "Head shop" June 1967(failed)@ 1831 Pico Blvd, lived above , and another biz on 2633-B Santa Monica Blvd 1967 garage(success) , lived across Samohi 1967-69 a different world. Malibu 1972 to 1988...now at age 75 on a tropical beach island diving resorts in SE Asia. I like it by the PACIFIC OCEAN one side or the other! Santa Monica has a great history....Waving to you all from "DAUIN"!
Dude you got me homesick this is my old home used to live in Western and Hollywood back in the 90's and would roll skate all over Hollywood stars and hang out on the third back then you could see lots of actors walking around here, not anymore very crowded now,göad to see those dinosaurs in the middle with water fountains still there. Thanks for the uploads greetings from Germany!
I was eleven when my family moved from Chicago and ended up in Santa Monica in 1967. Best place in the world to live and grow up in. I went to John Adams Jr High and SAMOHI. We had a 3 bed 2 bath apt in the 1800 block of 10th St. for $110 a month. I used to walk to the beach and see the Pacific Ocean and take a 25 cent bus ride back home. I remember the Santa Monica Mall too. I know the new one is great, I've been there. If you ever see Pee Wee Herman's Big Adventure (1985), you can still see the old Santa Monica Mall as the backdrop where Pee Wee had his bike stolen.
Thanks so much for this video, I found my brother who is homeless wondering in the third street, he is homeless since May 2016, and first time I see him since. I wish I can help him, have been crying.
i think ive seen him, i said some funny shit to him before like haibibi nigga wtf u on the streets u prob have rich ass arab parents and a hot sister.. he just nodded
I love walking o the 3 rd street Promenade because it remins me of Lincoln Mall of South Beach!! It just have tourist and homeless people!! Los Angeles is so simular to Miami in so many ways!! The nightlife and the amazing Latino cuisine. I wish I can live by this mall. I use to!! I stay there for 2 nights on 2nd street ay the Youth Hostel!!
good ole Los Angeles. i can recognize LA anywhere, considering i was born there 29 years ago. too bad my family moved to Ohio when i was 11 in 1999. it had alot of crime at the time just like NY, but i miss it. both places are alot safer than they used to be.
Great videos!! Loved the walk down memory lane from Venice to S.M. Sorry if all my comments which I'm sure you got annoyed you. Just fond memories. Little known fact.... Before the Santa Monica Place ever opened there was a dead body found in the elevator shaft of the mall (which was the only elevator back then, dead(punn)center of the mall). Delayed the opening because of it.
Hi ZFoxandMcFalcon! The video was hammered with copyright claims on the music played around that place. I'll be reuploading it as soon as I finish fixing it!
Amazing video!!! Just wanted to ask, which city do you prefer more, San Francisco or LA? I'm planning to move either to SF or LA, however I cannot decide. But I would like to live in a city that has fun vibes and people. And also with opportunities in fashion and journalism spheres or just more opportunities to grow. Thanks for the answer in advance:))
interesting! quiet clean peaceful nice place and space I notice the street deco with dinosaur every where. In europe in old time it were statue of old greek or romain statue or historic representation of celebrities or politicleaders. in states dinosaurs are the cultural leak beetween everybody ( without any offense or preference for one of all community)
So how come they build "small" in LA? Real estate is expensive in big cities like this. Why not build a tower, like on Manhattan? (I love how you can hear bits of conversations. Good audio quality!)
Mikko Tasanen because LA has more room to build than LA. That’s why LA is much larger than NY in terms of square mileage of the city. They have more to work with.
Also many cities (really neighborhoods) in LA limit the height of buildings due to earthquake danger. To build tall buildings, you must meet very stringent building code requirements.
in deutschland gibts nur die Nordsee mit kleinen Inseln und sehr windig und kalt !! wir müssen fliegen nach Mallorca und Spanien für Sonne und Strand. we have here little Islands windi and cold we must fly to Mallorca and spain
Ahaha, Two Jehovah's Witnesses women with their magazines Watchtower and Awake. They don't even wanna talk to me in my country, as i do not agree with their doctrines. But I do read their magazines. They are not so nice when you don't agree with them. Whoever they are in this vid I say hello to them, and yes immortal soul does exist in every living material creature.

San Francisco is outrageously expensive now and more for techies with lots of money. Watch the documentary "San Francisco 2.0". It's an eye opener.
Can you do a video in Orange County?
En el 10:51 hay dos testigos con el carrito de servicio
