Attaching value and worth to bags or things in general are not good value to hold as a person. There are also dupes in makeup, watches, etc songs, This is what I remind myself.

My stance has softened on this somewhat since the curtain was pulled back on Dior using sweatshops, the infinite price hikes, shadey sales tactics etc. While we see Hermes hand assembling the bags, we don’t get to the production of the hides, the trims, the hardware, the dyes and glues or the packaging. What factory conditions are those consumables being produced in? I’ve lost all trust. If there’s no trademark infringement, I no longer care. The big hitters have been stealing from each other for decades: City Steamer V Birkin, Artois V neverfull, speedy V Dior groove. I bought a fake Hermes bag to take to a job interview for a position that would be a significant increase in position for me. I can’t say that it tipped the scale - but it definitely didn’t hurt (since I got the position). It made them see me as one of them - and I don’t regret it. I only buy real now for a variety of reasons but I don’t ever begrudge anyone a fake.

I ordered the Walmart dupe on 12/30. It’s a 25 green (teal). These bags are sold by a third party seller and judging from the name they are in China. The bag is supposed to be delivered on 1/14. I’ve heard Walmart is canceling some of the orders but so far my order is still “being prepared”.
I assume that Walmart decided it was worth the risk to sell a Birkin knockoff. I think the Chinese copies that have been sold online for the last few years have softened up the market, and Walmart must have figured it was worth a try to cut into some of that action. The people who’ll buy a real Birkin would do so because of the notoriety and craftsmanship, regardless of the price. Hermes will make their money from them regardless. The people who are going to purchase the Walmart dupe (or any other dupe) are gonna do it because of the notoriety of Birkin’s, and the price and availability of dupes. Well I'm going to get the black one they have the Kelly style so I'm on the wait list I am intrigued to compare it to the original. It's just the look for less and everything gets copied in fashion all the way down to the high street. I'm waiting to see if Target does it next like they did with the H style sandals. The issue I see is it could ruin the brand, historically look what happened to Burberry back in the 1990s/2000s when I was in London, it was worn fake or not by many chavs and Burberry had to break free with new rebranding, new designs to avoid the antisocial image and drag down of the brand because of fakes and who was wearing it. It will be interesting to see if the buzz continues and what the reaction will be ; and if it does hurt the Brand I think not so much sales but the image of who is wearing it.

The difference between a fake (replica) and a dupe is that a fake is a 1 for 1 exact copy with all of the logos and branding. In simplest terms, if it doesn't steal the original logo, it's no longer considered a fake. Dupes can look very similar or take bits and pieces of the original for inspiration. However, there are instances where companies have sued because items look too close to theirs. Louis Vuitton sued Dooney and Bourke years ago because they felt like the DB colorful monogram bags looked too similar to their Murakami collection. They lost. The judge said they were not similar enough to confuse consumers.

I am at a loss as to the Tik Toc fuss about the bag that is inspired by the Birkin. There have been inspired by bags all over the internet for years. I decided to pick up one for $65.00. The one I am getting is polyurethane. I have no issues with the inspired by bags. All the designers copy each other one way or another. To be upset about copying it, would be me being silly. It’s legal, so it’s fine and there is little anyone could do to act on or enforce their opinion that it is not “okay.” There is such a thing as trademark infringement, and this is not it. i like how this bag came out after the interview. what I want to know is the real cost of the birkin, how much does it cost Hermes make? versus what they sell it for. after the dior scandal, I now wonder how much it cost, the markup, and the where/how they are really made. because dior made it seem they were also done ethically. i need an expose. i wonder if the leather guy will de-construct a birkin and a wirkin.

In any other area , for example song writing , engineering , painting , it is called copyright , plagiarism , or liable , so why not for bags ?? I get that some people desire the real thing , but a cheap knock-off is all they can afford , and that's their choice . However I could never go for that because no matter how well made the copy might be I would know ! It's not just ethics , I also know that these bags never age in the same way , and time is a great REVEALER !! I think you are far better off going for a more affordable , but still beautifully made similar style by a reputable brand , that way you are not cheating yourself , because you are still getting something special !! Have you heard of Kwanpen? The brand specialises croc bags, ethnically sourced apparently, and one of their bags does look a lot like the Birkin.
I’m not sure if the are ethically sourced because no where on the website they talk about providing cites for their bags. To me, it can be a sign that they aren’t. I cannot say for sure but I have my doubts.

A few years ago I bought the LV passy. I've never seen a dupe of it anywhere. An acquaintance ( wouldn't say a friend) who's daughter was holding it and trying it on asked me did I get it from the "looky looky man on the beach!) I was annoyed but she preceeded to tell me she was joking ( don't know about that)
I tuned in to see what the big deal is. Some people are really into bags. Personally, I like me a nice cross body purse with a long strap. It doesn’t matter the brand, but there are a couple that do it better than others. Buy what you can afford. Don’t go into debt over it.
First and foremost.. Walmart is a online platform seller, like Amazon. Walmart is not directly selling these bags. These bags are being sold by a third party. Dupes and replicas are now part of normal society. If I had a dupe bag I would say so.. no big deal anymore.
The people who’ll buy a real Birkin would do so because of the notoriety and craftsmanship, regardless of the price. Hermes will make their money from them regardless. The people who are going to purchase the Walmart dupe (or any other dupe) are gonna do it because of the notoriety of Birkin’s, and the price and availability of dupes. They wouldn’t buy a real one anyway-can’t afford to or don’t want to even if they could.
Birkins and Kellys wouldn't be my Hermes of choice, it'd be an Evelyn or a Constance, but those are deep dives as far as dupes go.
Well I'm going to get the black one they have the Kelly style so I'm on the wait list I am intrigued to compare it to the original. It's just the look for less and everything gets copied in fashion all the way down to the high street. I'm waiting to see if Target does it next like they did with the H style sandals. The issue I see is it could ruin the brand, historically look what happened to Burberry back in the 1990s/2000s when I was in London, it was worn fake or not by many chavs and Burberry had to break free with new rebranding, new designs to avoid the antisocial image and drag down of the brand because of fakes and who was wearing it. It will be interesting to see if the buzz continues and what the reaction will be ; and if it does hurt the Brand I think not so much sales but the image of who is wearing it.
To me, if it looks like the real deal and actually isn’t, it’s a FAKE! I get sometimes confused when an item is referenced as a copy, inspired by, dupe, or fake. I think it would make for an informative video for you to elaborate your view on the power of these words. How they’re similar and how they’re different from one another. The difference between a fake (replica) and a dupe is that a fake is a 1 for 1 exact copy with all of the logos and branding. In simplest terms, if it doesn't steal the original logo, it's no longer considered a fake. Dupes can look very similar or take bits and pieces of the original for inspiration.
However, there are instances where companies have sued because items look too close to theirs. Louis Vuitton sued Dooney and Bourke years ago because they felt like the DB colorful monogram bags looked too similar to their Murakami collection. They lost. The judge said they were not similar enough to confuse consumers.
Maybe it’s gone viral because it’s the bag that looks the closest to the original at the lowest price offered…just a guess though…I don’t think it’s wrong to sell dupes as long as they don’t represent it as an original…that would be very wrong…this gives people a chance to enjoy a “designer-type” bag without the extremely large price tag because many just simply cannot afford an original…👜🤎👝

On Walmart’s website, the description of the item specifically says that it’s made from synthetic leather. That’s just facts. The original and other dupes, are made from real leather. Do with that what you will and buy whatever bag you want but be informed.
So it's pleather. Plastic leather or a cheap vinal. It will fall apart within a year of normal everyday use, if that long.
The ones that I have from Kamugo...they are leather!

most people who buy dupes are just because of looks and if the quality stands then much better. i understand when someone says, why spent 10 thousand dollar for a bag thats only cost $ 1000,- in manufacturing? usually the buyer pays a lot for the name and brands of the said product not the item itself. that´s how the company earn their money. they have their " Name " a luxury brand and the customers should pay for it. but i don´t care if people wear real, fake or dupes as long they are happy with their purchase, that´s fine. what matters me most is the person self, not what he/she is wearing.

Looking from design house to house all are inspired by something else. I don't personally buy dupes and don't support them. That said-it will not effect Hermes-the people that buy the dupe or"inspired by" will not pay up for the real thing. A rare person might buy one to try it out for size style. Also "Imitation is most sincere form of flattery". I had not even heard of this bag. Love your Birkin and hope you do not sale the beautiful Kelly-it's day will come back around for you and try to get a longer crossbody strap-will make all the difference!

Actually...they are leather...I have original leather bags from another companies...I purchased bags last year...I use them often...and they are holding beautifully....company i purchase is Kamugo through Walmart...I just did not want to put that kind of money on that....and if I wanted I could stamp it...but I love them as they are!.
I am at a loss as to the Tik Toc fuss about the bag that is inspired by the Birkin. There have been inspired by bags all over the internet for years. I decided to pick up one for $65.00. The one I am getting is polyurethane. I have no issues with the inspired by bags. All the designers copy each other one way or another. To be upset about copying it, would be me being silly. Hermes could care less about this. The bag appeals to those of us who will never be able to afford the real thing, or will not pay for the real thing.

I would never want a Birkin- the doing and the undoing of the buckles would drive me nuts, I’d need to have it done up because my ocd couldn’t walk around with it undone, & I need a strap. If anything I’d want a Kelly or another brand that has similar style
I have two Hermes Kelly bags and they’re a pain to open and close but I love the straps for hands free going around town. That’s why I never go for the Birkin.

I think its wrong for people to assume they’re made in poorer conditions from anything else you buy in shops that are made in China. Or Italy now it seems. Just cos its a bag doesnt make it less ethical from most of stuff we buy from UK highstreet shops. Is it “okay” to copy the design? It’s legal, so it’s fine and there is little anyone could do to act on or enforce their opinion that it is not “okay.” There is such a thing as trademark infringement, and this is not it.
I’ve got real and dupe H bags, the real are both pre-loved and store-bought. I use all and each have their positives and negatives, and uses in different scenarios, but all hold my things at the end of the day. Nobody can see the stamp as I wear the bag going by either way…
That’s ridiculous that people have commented about your shelving! My bags sit happily in 4 Billy Oxberg double cabinets with glass doors from Ikea. I think they are perfectly happy being stored there and I’m happy as well!
