I’m from Montana and am so ashamed whenever it makes national news because it is never good. Zinke’s idea of “American cowboy” is having an at-will employment state, lawlessness, and selling off public lands to the highest bidder. @Edward Blair , every country involved in WWII, had media restrictions for national security reasons. It was only common sense to not accidentally or intentionally provide information, aid, and comfort to one's enemies during wartime.
As for playing down the polio disabilities, it is debatable as to whether that was right or wrong. Today, people still discriminate against the disabled and underestimate their abilities, even though we definitely know better now. In FDR's time, the situation was infinitely worse for the disabled. Regardless of one's political position, it would have been unconscionable to destroy the career of a person from either party by prominently emphasizing his or her's disabilities, when they were otherwise a capable leader. When I was in school in the 1950s and 1960s, nasty jokes, bullying, and harassment were still directed at people who wore glasses, and having to wear regular glasses was not even a disability as we think of it. People can be cruel and ignorant.

I remember when we first heard Trump complaining about toilets not flushing effectively (before we knew he was flushing documents) and wondering what the hell he was on about. Now it's obvious that he was complaining that the toilets didn't flush DOCUMENTS well. I know Seth did a bit about it in the past but this Closer Look reminded me 🚽
I didn't think anybody could out-crazy MTG but good god that unhinged rant from Zinke was something else.
About a year ago, a study came out with results that indicated that conservatives not only are more resistant to change, but also react more to physically “disgusting” images ( for example squashed bugs and mud) and uncertain situations ( such as competing options.) I think they also have a weakness when it comes to understanding complexity in situations and solutions, and tend to totally misunderstand what it means to cooperate as a community.
Not so much don't understand as opposed to the fact that it's harder to imagine community impact when one can't think outside the bubble of self
Yes, I saw the study, also. Conservatives have a higher fear reaction, which I think a lot of us already knew, however, it was validating to see actual data back that up.
I honestly don't consider anyone past 1990 to be a real conservative; the current stooges are just members of the Rush Limbaugh cult of conspiracy sheep, bleating their allegiance and letting their "betters" think for them.
