    With the glorious High Elf site-searching prowess, I find that gem income ends up varied and immense.
    Smith priests could be good targets for empowering, especially in glamour.
    For some reason I have it in my head that equipping a bunch of handmaidens with gossamer veils and dream spools to summon sprites every battle is a good idea, and I keep trying to make it work.
    ...It might be because for the longest time I didn't notice the little priest guy behind the chariot general in the recruitment screen and thought handmaidens were my cheapest priest, so I used loads of them...

      If you haven't tried it, I highly recommend it! Its so detailed. I'm sure if I knew more of the lore it'd be even cooler.

    2:00 Does feel like you want the Anointed up front. You can deploy them ahead to compensate for the time casting spells.
    You say they are vulnerable to arrows but they have the protection you normally look for -just not the extra benefit of Awe.
    Lions seem rather soft so far and might be better deployed as flankers. Maybe that's harsh -they're fine but they aren't tough enough to avert attrition against even basic troops

      Just recorded #3 yesterday, we should see this change. Although I think I scripted it at the end of this episode?
      Thanks for adding timestamps to all the comments btw. Lets me go back to the exact thing youre talking about.

    Might be interesting to try this with Heat scales and just plan to get off the island with sailing. I suspect the defensive advantage would be redundant though (especially SP) and losing your chariots would suck (in terms of fun at least).
    EDIT: I forgot that chariots can be built in any fort. I also hadn't really registered quite how comprehensively the sea is being treated as a river here. There really are a lot more connections than I thought that you can cut by being hot.

    • @ZanGames
      @ZanGames  5 місяців тому +1

      Correct, everything is a "river" pass out. This specific map has 0 sea. So all coastal is gone, no sailing allowed. Luckily swimming just got added to the traditional sailors.

    0:10 Doing cool fun stuff is good entertainment. I think it may be worth mentioning when you do something deliberately sub-optimal but you don't want to be talking about that all the time. Discussing afterwards how you might have done something better can also be interesting.
    22:00 Pausing during turn processing is nice later on but when the turn takes only a few seconds to process it's not a problem

      I like to try and be careful with what I say as a "this is my recommendation on good" vs "this may or may not be good, lets try it." In case some players are watching with the intent of learning the nation.
      I definitely do dozens of suboptimal things, even in multiplayer games. The powers of lazy, stubborn, and comfort are strong in me...

    21:00 Size 1 is the standout feature of Wisps. 2 for 1 gem still seems expensive compared to a full size Elemental but doing it with an F1/F2 mage seems very viable if you have the gems ..and by "an F1/F2 mage" I do of course mean a cohort of them.

    • @ZanGames
      @ZanGames  5 місяців тому

      Half the advantage of the wisps is spawning on the edge / behind the map.
      Its kind of like the Howl effect, but wisps kill people and are survive MUCH longer in the absence of magic weapons.

      @@ZanGames You mentioned that part though 😛. 10 scary attacks packed into one square isn't worth mentioning? (or 4 if you put them in with your mini-giants). Having them come from behind can certainly be nice but is that attack density not terrifying?
      Maybe I'm overestimating how prepared people are for attacks on the rear.

    17:36 If they have enough stealth you might send the Handmaidens out to Preach in enemy provinces. With 100 leadership they might also be decent raiders? I forget what else you have with stealth.

    • @ZanGames
      @ZanGames  5 місяців тому

      I double backed quickly, but the Ellyrian Reaver + commander all have stealth so that would be a neat mundane stealth force already. Its the super light cavalry archer types. Good to know. But raiding I think is mostly useless vs the ai and their pd dumps?

    What are the funny black symbols on the map that look a bit like tents or campfires? There are two on the islands at the south of the ring and another in the north (among other places).
    Are province names a setting you turned off or is their absence a feature of the map mod?

    • @ZanGames
      @ZanGames  5 місяців тому

      No idea. Probably artistic stuff? I know the map likes to just call some places "jungle" "mountain" and so on. Probably no real names for some locations.
