Story time, back in day on family trip to Door County we stopped at A&W in Sheboygan. It was 100 degrees at least, 7 in the ‘71 Chrysler station wagon. Dad ordered hamburgers and Frosted root beer for the car. When delivering root beer girl proceeded to flip entire tray on my Dad mugs and all. He was drenched in sticky root beer for next 2 hours. Needless to say we got free meal and two extra gallons of root beer. Dad said saving Grace was he was really hot from driving and cooled him off. I’ll say. Dad was a champ. From then on every trip Dad still stopped at same A&W so we could relive story. Miss you Dad!
I absolutely love this vlog simple yet wholesome. Just the elys being together. Thanks guys love you both. Aly I wanna say your a amazing director at your job they are blessed to have you.
amazing how something so simple as a cold root beer and ice cream makes someone so happy. they should pass them out at the court house in New YORK today to everyone and make all this wasted anger and hate go away. jealous of those Chicago style dogs and crinkle cut fries, they do not have such around me ( North of BOSTON). hope all is well and that you and your family and friends have a Happy Easter.
I love how happy Aly is in this video! Love how she is, SO, into the fries with the cheese! Sean, “It’s snapless.” ❤❤❤ Fries look awesome! Was, OMG, The twist is my FAVORITE! SUPER, great hangin on Saturday! Love you, love you, love you!
This video made me smile! I absolutely love it, you and Aly are the best. That restaurant looks fire, I am writing it down for sure. I love a good Chicago dog! The best thing y'all got though is the frosty root beer. I am definitely craving one now.
Great video. You and Aly make a great team. This video really brought me back to my teens as I used to work at a Root Beer and Hot Dog stand (Stewart's Root Beer). It was just Reds's - we offered limited counter seating but mostly car service with the trays hung on car windows. Root Beer served in frozen mugs and dogs/burges/fries, etc..
What a cool place. Reminds me of the old school A&W Root beer stands from when I was a kid. (You also had to roll your window down for the tray) Seems like Reds was reasonably priced too. Thanks for the video. Safe travels to Italy!
I also had a massive root beer phase when i was a kid. For Christmas I would get this aluminum barrel of root beer with a little spout and i thought it was the coolest thing lol. Cant tell you the last time i had a root beer tho, might need one soon.
I call it Braks!!!! Hahahah A&W is my fave root beer. The closest we have to something like that going to the A&W/Longjohns and getting a chilled mug’d root beer. They bring the food out to you like they used to do at Sonic in the 80s!!!!
Holy shit!!! This is 15 minutes from where I live in Kalamazoo MI and being originally from Chicago this place is one of my favorites when I want a reminder of home. So glad you stopped here!
We have a drive in similar back home in Southern il. Its Called mikes drive in, westfrankfort il. If you were to make your way down that way it's worth the stop. Frozen mug homemade rootbeer just like you desribed in this. The best horseshoe sandwich ever as well.
I love those old school drive-in's. Sonic is kinda poser-ish. Same same but different. Now like i told Corey... Get your ass on the plane and have some 40,000 feet cocktails already.
Nice video. Aly saying if she never had another Chicago Dog it would not make her unhappy. How sad. You folks live in Chicago now. Can she be arrested for not having an allegiance to the "Chicago Dog"? What is surprising to me is you were in Michigan and Sean saying this was the best Chicago Dog he has had. WoW. Doesn't say much for Chicago where you live. A Chicago Dog is very specific. Vienna Beef dog with the toppings on a Poppy Seed bun. The only variation I see is in how is the Vienna Beef dog is cooked. Grilled, Steamed, Boiled, pan fried. A Chicago Dog at 1 place cooked the same at another shop should not be very different in quality. Very specific ingredients with only the cooking of the dog being different. As far as best drive in food, I probably would have to say A&W Pappa Burger. We had a couple of other Drive Ins but did not frequent them often. At 12 - 13, I could drive but did not have a license or a car so I could not go where I wanted.
Planning a trip to Chicago later this year, do you have a recommendation for your favorite Chicago dog? Additionally, what is your favorite of any Chicago's famous foods? #ama
Absolutely!! My favorite Chicago hot dog is Red Hot Ranch, followed by Superdawg, Lola’s Coney Island and The Wiener Circle. Cannot go wrong with any of them. ❤️❤️❤️
Tell your friend thank you for splurging getting an Aston Martin and not a Maserati, they're too popular for what they are and essentially are future scrap metal. I hate 'edit: that' people that get tricked by them. Aston Martin is pure class.
My bad . I was thinking of some other place with a similar name . Something like teddys or something from my memory. Should have looked it up before I commented.
4:47 ... Back in the Chicago suburbs in the summer of 1971 I saw somebody get their head cracked open by one of those mugs (at an A&W) Unfortunately I was tripping at the time, so the image has stuck with me over the years =8-/

As someone who was an A&W carhop in the 70s I thought it was so adorbs you didn’t understand the tray / window apparatus. Just darling. 😘
Hahaha I was SUCH a n00b
I think I might have to go there when I’m in the area!! Angela would Love that place!!
Corn dogs for sure. This place looks great.
This was such a refreshing video. House made food in a fast food joint? Now that’s what I call Flavor Town.

Safe travels to Italy!
Starting the video with frosted mugs and ending with a joy ride! 🤩
We have been going to red’s for years! We take our grandkids now. It is such an iconic experience. So glad you discovered it!
Peg! It’s such a fantastic experience. I’m already psyched for my trip back.
Random homemade applesauce comment: you can make it in the Instant Pot and puree it with an immersion blender. So easy. So delicious. 🍎🍏
What an absolutely fun video!! Aly like a kid getting ice cream and Sean driving the AM! So great!! Safe travels to Italy.
Oh like the old school A&W curbside experience, neat!
4:46 The Pure Michigan audio was perfect there 😂
That looked like a blast! Yummy!!!!

The fry dip in extra dog cheese was the ONLY way! Well done fellow Michiganders!

I was able to try some of the sauce!! It tasted so good! Nothing like I have ever tasted! The kick is very nice!!! 9.3/10!!!
Paw Paw is the best stop over between Detroit and Chicago!
I like that you include your wife. Honestly love doing random stuff like this with my partner haha
Dearborn Sausage Natural Casing hot dogs are also big in Detroit area coney places.
Thanks!
Derek you’re just the MAN.
@@HeySeanEly nah bro you're the man have fun in Italy my guy
Love this vid. I had the crispy tomato sandwich in Philly. It was meh. A bit disappointing, but Philly was fabulous. 🌷🌷🌷
I am now stopping here on my back to central Illinois from Detroit on Saturday. Thank you!
You’ll love it!
Fun video. Thanks!

We just had the BEST afternoon here
@@HeySeanEly it is truly a hidden gem. Nothing better than visiting Red’s for a root-beer and Chicago Dog on a hot day!
Reminds me of one of my sentimental favorites: A&W in Frankfort MI! Mmmmm! As for Malort and applesauce chaser…not so sure about that. 🙃
The look of disappointment on Sean's face when she said "small" 10:47 😢 😆
😂😂😂
@@HeySeanEly bro I'm still laughing. I know she's small but she's a fiesty one, hey Aly 👋 and no ma'am I do not want smoke 😂
My long time friends own this! Reds is the best!
Oh wow! Please show your friends. I'd love for them to see how much we enjoyed ourselves

Where's that t-shirt from? It's a perfect gift for my boss.
Michael S got it for me from a limited artist drop off Everpress! It’s so sick.

Sean you need to go to the rootbeer stand in Kalamazoo Michigan
I sure do!! I’d love to vlog that.
Can’t go wrong……with a classic cherry coke with a hot dog
Okay but MUG as your favorite root beer?! I think that may need to be a future taste test.
related: I would definitely do a root beer float party with Aly
I'd love to get tickets to that.

No way is that better than most of Chicago hot dogs .
Go try one. 🤯
@@HeySeanEly I've eaten at them in Michigan. Same with Leo's and other hot dog places in Michigan.
Have you been to Red’s?
@@HeySeanEly I just looked it up and it's not the place I was thinking about. My fault. Does he use authentic Vienna beef?

No stop in Sturgis this time around?
1919 or Sprecher has best rootbeer
Classic grampa order. Have to tell the waitress your life story and then order 6 hotdogs with Applesauce please 😀 .
