This is still one of my favorite parts of all time. Every trick looks deliberate and smooth, nothing looks like filler or a set-up for the next wall. Cab rules.
Almost 20 years later and I'm still trying to learn tricks from this part. My favorite mini ramp section from any of the Powell vids. Cab was so on here!
You’re not joking - this run is still legit hard, even today. He does a tail stall backside revert straight into a half cab pivot over the spine that I’m still trying to figure out where he got the speed from. Plus he nonchalantly does a nollie to tail transfer over the wide part of the spine by the wall (smacking it down with an unmistakable CRACK) that everyone just thinks must be super easy. It. Is. Not. So much respect for Cab and how he’s still shredding it. My favorite skater of all time for good reason. Cheers!
This video came out in 89 and to this day. I have still never seen a skater. Do a line so smooth, so effortless. So nonchalant with with so much style. Ya, all young ones today take notes.
Great clip. Thank for posting it. If I ever needed some moto to skate, all I had to do was pop this in the VCR. Cab was, and still is amazing. He absolutely shreds this ramp. His ability to link lip tricks is unreal!
Steve was one of the most powerful and clean ramp skaters of all time as this vid so eloquently shows, and he's one of the nicest guys around too( had a chance to meet him in Orlando, FL ) Check out his art drawings too at his Myspace page"Steve Caballero Artist Page"
Miss these days of skating. This was the shit. When style and flow was important as well. Along with the boards having style, the wheels didn't look like tylenols and there was just more quality and less corporate back then. Back when if you were a skater, you were considered a dork. a TRUE outcast. Best time of my life.
This is good 5417!!! Steve, Tony and Hosoi were always the three best ramp sk8Rs to watch in the old days. ..and Cab's current deck graphics are Metallica inspired. \m/
Just here (again) to watch after a long time one of the best Sk8-Vid-parts ever made in history of Skateboarding & shoutout a very friendly hello to my good old UA-cam-Friend & uploader of this clip, Ilnumeroventidue! ✊🏼🤙🏼 ... inbetween more than 8 years ago! PS: damn we are gett'n old mate! ;]
Steve Caballero was the best no Drugs ,approachable excellent musician and Made with a few other Pros showed the Public that with any determination and with a ton of practice making $$$ traveling and showing up a dream could be realized I saw it in person with my own eyes. What stands Out most is a Contest In Corona, California. 1,000 take all Tony Hawk was a Giant ,that Weekend.T.Hawk was hungry. I realize Through out the contest weekend that Hawk was possibly going to get a win. Cab a very veteran pro Cab had a Contest Plan. In San Jose, CA..that is what we worked with. Steve Caballero saved the the best through Out the contest and carme out a 1,000$ (Winner takes all.) I was there. Jon insco Soquel, San Jose..San Francisco,CA 121122
I know this comment's a year old, but you should check out longboard companies. A lot of them are selling old-school styled decks and they use big wheels and wide trucks under them. It's great for original skateboarding.
@bones3540 your dam right!i was on a variflex in 84,hawk xt in 87,think drehbold on front side to fukin 200000 dollar surgery in 97///quit,,,tried again in 2006,now im going to try again,at 41!.....your right on man no fukin chik but here!
@pattycat100567 Yeah i know what you mean. Serious injuries arent easy to overcome mentally and physically. When you get back on board just flow around and take it easy to get that muscle memory back. Im 37 and in the same boat as you. Some days im ripping and other days not that much. Still surprise myself once in a while :)
@becampbell13 isnt torticollis a muscle in your neck, cuz i pulled it and thats what my chiropractor and doctor said it was. i could be wrong though...
Don't say they couldn't skate in the 80s! So smooth and so much style.
This is still one of my favorite parts of all time. Every trick looks deliberate and smooth, nothing looks like filler or a set-up for the next wall. Cab rules.
no one does boardslides like Caballero, so smooth and stylish.

And that's why Cab is such a fucking legend. I'd be happy if I had half his talent!
For you kiddies out there this was back in the day when at skate contests were sponsored by skateboard companies and not Target and Mountain Dew.
Wasn’t Pepsi the most usual sponsor back then tho
_Pure skill. A master at work._ 👍🏼👍🏼
That was one the most badass runs I ever saw. I was skating in those days. Got my first board in 1976 at 11
This line is super difficult to replicate even today not mention how smooth it is
Great style! I am just subscribed to your channel from The Nine Club 💯🔔👍
Always my favorite skater,he could do all the moves, super smooth and always smiling.

steve is one of the smoothest of all time
Used to watch this every day after school. So damn smooth.
Great clip. Thank for posting it. If I ever needed some moto to skate, all I had to do was pop this in the VCR. Cab was, and still is amazing. He absolutely shreds this ramp. His ability to link lip tricks is unreal!
That's only one reason why CAB was & is my Idol and favorit skater.
Big THX for posting it.
With the possible exception of Frankie Hill, this was my favorite part from Ban This. It's incredible by 1989 standards and still looks great today.
Stevie’s skating and this song…symbiotic relationship
Holy shit my boss just hooked me up with the original 1980 Caballero deck in pretty good condition, can't believe this is my first time watching him
Incredible....some of the best cab footage there is. Id put this old school run up against any modern stuff. Dumb tight.
