I remember Steve Caballero as a pro when I was a kid, and that was 35 years ago😳. I talked to him briefly at Expo 86 in Vancouver. They had a pro contest there. I saw him again briefly at a Vans demo in Vancouver again sometime in the 2000’s. Tony Trujillo was there too and was the one mostly skating.
And if anyone is wondering why, it's because there was no such thing as a nollie in those days because boards didn't have noses, therefore you couldn't nose-ollie. 'Cause knowledge is power! :D
Fuck! There's a name I haven't heard in a long time! ha. Skated religiously from 13-19 yrs old. 15 years later I'm just now digging back in to whose out there. Current new favorites are: Chris Joslin and Jaws. And might just add Cory Juneau to that list after I go ahead right now and watch his vids.
@@gabelogan56 I agree about Joslin, Jaws andCory but I'll add John Cardiel (although he cant really skate anymore but his footage is incredible), Greyson Fletcher, Grant Taylor, and Peter Hewitt and Daewon Song (still killing it their 40s). I skated non stop from 12-25 and then got married, had kids, work, and picked it up again at 35. I'm in my 40s now and although I mostly just cruise around, slappy some curbs, and ollie like an old fart I still watch it religiously and even built my kids a mini ramp in the yard.. Dude!! Thanks. Can't thank you enough. Gonna check out everything you've sent me you gracious angel. ha. Cannot believe that Daewon is still doing it (REALLY?!) I don't have kids yet but you can bet I will push them towards skating if for no other reason than to respect the value of dedication and practice. And yeah I've moved around a lot and noticed the skateparks and even when moving home I'm seeing all these new, gorgeous skateparks that are totally public, free admission, no cops yelling at you. ha. I remember having to organize petitions to give the parks and recreation department to build us a skate park so they didn't have to send cops to keep kicking us out of grocery store loading docks and schoolhouse stair sets. My how the times have changed! I'm so happy though. Happy to see more access and accommodation for skaters.

Feel the same way about Curren as Cory - just great flow. I've always felt if you can make it look like surfing then you got flow...if that makes any sense
Skated with Cab at Winchester for years. And burned every night in the big pink keyhole. And behind the 7/11. Cab never burned then. He would just turn his head and give us that little grin then hit the washboard.
Suprised Cab didn't mention CHRIS SENN. Cause iirc they we're teamates @ Powell when Senn was blowing eveyrone away. Woulda loved to a Chris Senn & Willy Santos session.
dude just do a cab on a hip and u only have to spin like 210 degress depending on how you roll up to it. cant be shaming stevie boi with that half shit
What a history lesson
I have an original Ban This on VHS.
hell yea Cory! major props from a legend
His ban this clip just gave me goosebumps. Watched that part countless times when starting skating in the 80s.. Frankie Hills' part was just as gnarly
love frankie hill

Skateboardings Veterans Rule ! Great choices Cab
Who was the second one?
The way he described Cory is how they described Tom Penny. Skating is similar. Awesome flow, casual and real mellow. For da love a skateboarding ✊
Totally agree
Dang, I remember him when I was skating at 13, and that was 20 years ago.
J O me too!!
And he was skating 20 years before that. You were late
You're old
Bad Cornflakes And you’re ugly.

I totally called it. &, Eddie's favorite would probably be Bobby Valdez.. inventor of the invert.
Had a poster of Valdez doing a hand plant in a concrete bowl. It was way ahead of its time. Great memories.
watch Steve Cab skating the mini ramp with spine in Ban This, SICK
Legend talking about legends and future legends ! Forces humbleness
I'd do damn near anything for that old Cab deck setup! Those old boards are so beautiful.
OK now I really feel old
I had the thrasher centerfold of Cab's record setting method. Good times!
Man I love watching Cab.... he and Hosoi have the best style ever IMO...
I hope Steve knows how may people would say that he's their favorite skater.
Nah, he's the most over rated.

I always thought Cab had the coolest haircut in the 80's. Those long bangs dyed peroxide while the rest of his hair was shaved.
Cool choices. Not too obvious but absolutely legit.
