Ruth Wilson was so good playing Alice in Luther. She does psychopath as well as Sir Anthony Hopkins and a lot nicer to look at! Cannot believe she didn't win any awards for that role.
I have watched every episode and have wondered the exact same thing! Their American accents are perfect ~ I'd love to know if they have to get training or coaching to help them along.
Ruth Wilson's accent is somewhat off. She's a fantastic actress but I find it disruptive. West's is spot-on, but he has the advantage that Irish starts a lot closer to American than English does.

West isn't Irish. He was born and raised in Sheffield, the same Northern English city as Sean Bean ( who uses his own, typical Sheffield accent when playing Eddard Stark in G.O.T. ), and schooled at Eton College, the most elite school in Britain, and arguably, the world. He's a good actor, and to be a good actor, you have to be able to apply different accents believably, which he does, but there are many British actors as good and some better.
