    What an extraordinary talent! Maybe the word genius is better! She playes it more in the folk-style, which makes the music even more charming.

    Merry Christmas fans, Craciun fericit de cadouri muzicale virtuale de neuitat, si un An Nou fericit plin de evenimente muzicale, daca suna asa de bine e perfect

    I love the passion with which she plays, and her variations in dynamics and emotional expression.

    Played with great fantasy. A player's player if there ever was any. Not all the choices may be to your taste, but it's her story to tell (off bartok's manuscript derived from folk music).

      Tough call. Watching her play is so integral, but I admit the crappy recording and video was distracting.

    Looks like the proper length of the very first violin pickup note was ignored. It's shorter, like the repeat in the higher octave and in some subsequent phrases, which was observed. Throws off the phrase structure. Seems just theatrical to me.

      What?

    • @andrewnix6480
      @andrewnix6480 6 років тому +6

      I can't tell if you really know what you're talking about or if you're just spouting 'music theory'. That observation has no significance for someone who hasn't specifically studied the piece. And she is not in the wrong or just being theatrical because she is obviously not following the specific sheet music that you've studied.

      It is true I am familiar with the score but I agree it’s also true that such details would be quite meaningless to someone who didn’t know the score and likely minutiae even to people who do know it. She dramatizes her first entrance by lengthening the first note, yes, better i should say that than she was being “theatrical” which judges and reads into things, more objectively, as I think about it now. I thought it threw off the music’s balance a bit but I know well that I don’t have the musical authority to pronounce what an artist does as wrong. I always enjoy and am thoroughly engaged hearing Patrícia Kopatchinskaja because she does do things with tremendous individuality, passion, skill and great conviction.

      I can accept that, I do find Ms. Copacinskaia to be a compelling and free spirited recreative artist, and wouldn't want her to be anything but herself. These pieces have been played so many times, I do, ultimately, welcome a performer doing things with a different take on it in such a convincing, committed manner. I especially enjoy what sound to me as very stylish and musically stylistic ornamentation.

      Please note, that in the title there is "Dances" ... if you study the folk dances of the Carpathian basin, or Google the word "verbunk" you'll notice how this solo dance goes. With that powerful starting tune you see a man, who enters to the stage and picks up the rhythm. That bold accent works well, I think.

    Perhaps moving less might have guaranteed an in-tune high A at the end in the violin part - maybe not.
