That's an awesome idea! I'll remember that once renovation is done on my kitchen/dining room is finished and I get my small house back! We got 2 kittens two months ago from our neighbors but, they're confined to our bedroom. Both wet and dry food because most cats like to nibble here and there throughout the day, plus they drink from the same huge stainless water bowl as my 2 Pitties, AND they have a ceramic bowl (both filled with Britta water), for when they're put into their "Cat Condo" for the night because they're still too little to be unsupervised while we're sleeping. My little girl Pittie, who had 1 litter of puppies in 2017, mothers them, and my big, chonky boy, Tank, gently plays with them and just chills when they climb all over him and chase his wagging tail. So, they're both in good hands and paws, lol.

Yeah, I've always wondered about that. If I can smell that chlorine, I cant imagine how strong it is to them. Thinking about getting a reverse osmosis filtration system installed.

I bought my first fountain when my cat was diagnosed with kidney disease 5 years ago. She drinks so well now, no subcutaneous fluids needed for 4 years!
I've also found with my cats that they can see the running water from the fountain easier. When I used large bowls, they were constantly tapping the water with their paw to make it move so they could judge where the level of water was since cats have a harder time seeing still objects. Since I got the fountain they seem to be much much happier and I'm not constantly fishing debris out of the water!
OMG is that why my cat keeps moving the bowl?? One of them dips her paw in and licks it but the other is always moving the bowl, until it falls off the shelf lol.
One of my cats loves drinking out of the tap so we bought him a water fountain that has a spout, he won't go near it. My husband takes a pint of water up to bed with him every night, the cat drinks out of it as soon as hubby goes to sleep! I love cats, they just do what they want 😹
When my cats were on dry food, I used to add water to their food or homemade broth when available to make sure that they'd get some extra hydration while eating. If you're feeding your cats dry food for whatever reason, you can buy goat milk, chicken broth or bone broth that's cat-safe and tasty so that your cat's dry food isn't 100 percent dry!!! My cats are now on a part raw part wet diet and doing well 💖
@@wendyshell8679 the reason why he doesn't recommend it is because cow's milk is very high in lactose and cats are often lactose intolerant. Goat's milk is low in lactose and generally doesn't cause issues, and you can also find lactose free goat's milk specifically for cats.
Man, when I got a new fountain for kitty cat, I was nervous, just like any other stuff like new cat tree ect. if he is gonna accept it. You just never know. But once he started to drink more from that fountain, I was so relieved. Small littel success stories. I swear I'm always so happy when I get something new for my cat and he accepts it :D
I recently moved, and had to give my cat a dish of water for a few days, until I found the box with lis fountain. During those days he drank very little. The moment I got his fountain up and running, he ran over for a long drink. So, as far as I'm concerned, a fountain is worth the money.
I got a fountain for my cat about 7 years ago and it was a big hit. I’ve since adopted two blind cats. The fountain is now essential. They’re not seniors, but what you said still applies. They had a hard time finding regular water bowls, and the fountain makes it so much easier for them to find.
I love my cats water fountain! He would keep pushing over his Water that was in a Still bowl all over the floor. He likes moving/ running water and I Love it!! Very smart. I definitely recommend a Cat Fountain 😺❤️💯
Same! My female kitten loved pushing the bowl around and tipping it over. I got A water fountain and she loves it. At first she kept popping out the flower spout so i took it out and just had it bubble up from the center but i pLaced the flower back on now and she doesnt touch it
After having our cats drink endlessly from an ornamental rock waterfall in the living room, I bought them a fancy filtered cat fountain water dish, and guess what... The little floofbutts still prefer drinking from the ornamental one!
My cat Rescue loves his fountain! When it's cleaning time, he hovers around my feet meowing at me as if I might not give it back. He also loves for me to turn on the sink in the bathroom anytime I'm in there!!
My 2 floofs we adopted about 6 months ago used to have a gravity water bowl. We got what we could afford and what was avaliable. Then we worked on getting them a fountain asap. Haku got SO EXICTED when we finally got one that he drank and drank and drank. Then he threw up. He was too excited and I love it. I will never not have a fountain anymore. There fantastic!
My late Soren would plug the bathtub and then yell for me to turn the water on. He'd stand there drinking even as the water was up to his belly. They had a fountain, too, but he always was a big drinker. So annoying that he ended up having borderline kidney numbers. But, a diet change and six months later his numbers were great. He died of a very sudden, very awful, unrelated heart condition a couple years later.
My Love passed from kidney failure at the age of 20. I didn't have had a fountain in the past, made me feel guilty when she was ill. Today my 4 cats drink definitely much more than before I bought a fountain and also pee more and play or wash thei🙂 I've been saving for a good one for such a long time and I finally managed to buy the one I wanted. I don't regret, they drink more and have fun. I clean it as often as possible of course. I know that I maybe won't avoid them being ill one day but maybe it will feel less guilty if I fo my very very best for them...It hurts so much to loose a furry friend and guilt is making all worse and hard to stand. Especially one of my kitties didn't drink a lot and now it has changed,I checked with a vet,he is not sick, he is simply enjoying!🙂❤️❤️❤️ Happy Caturday to you and your best furry friends!!!
20 years is a long life and most cats's kidneys will go before you even see symptoms. you did nothing wrong; cats are designed to have low thirst drive b/c they get liquid from their prey. you know they are sick when they drink too much water and pee too much.
You don't need to feel guilty. My sweet, baby girl had to be euthanized at 14 for (presumed) kidney issues. She had access to a water fountain for her whole life and a combo wet and dry food diet for her old age. (in like the last week of her life she was somehow managing to be dehydrated but still drink enough to pee four times a day...) From what I've been told, cats are just prone to kidney failure because of how small they--and, consequently, their tubes--are

at local parks in my area, I have noticed 3 different water fountains, at different levels, one for adults, one for kids, and the lowest for pets, such as dogs.
My kitty Ralphie used to love playing with his water, we had one of those office water-cooler style fountains with the inverted jug that flows out as the water is emptied from the dish area and that thing was his Favorite Toy™️ lmao.!The reservoir jug thing was transparent and he figured out that if he just kept scooping the water out with his paw he could watch the fun bubbles go up inside the thing!!! Absolutely thrilling, I was always so proud of his ingenuity and handiwork ❤️😁❤️ The best part was that it was a 3/4 gallon container, so it eventually would cover almost the whole kitchen floor with a lovely cold puddle by the time anyone got home from school or work. I felt kinda bad having to take it away from him, but also kinda glad... he got over it when we just went and played with something else lol Even 8 years later, I miss him every single day. Please don't ever forget to cherish the people and animals you care about and let them know how grateful you are for the privilege of having them in your life, bc when they're gone, you're gonna miss even the most annoying and irritating shit they'd pull... even if I just got to experience slipping & busting my ass on the wet tile floor at 3:00am on my way to the bathroom or waking up to my boy Ralphie's teeth chomping into my leg through several blankets, or if I got one more call at 5:30am from my grandma asking me how to fix her printer or computer (and then driving over to her house just to plug her perfectly functioning electronics back in again lmao), I would be so, so indescribably happy just to have them there again, if only for a minute ❤️❤️❤️
❤️ Been there. It helps to treasure the memories. If you believe in God, try thanking Him for giving those precious people and pets to you. And God bless you for loving them.
I had 2 cats who had urinary tract disease and my vet told me to get a fountain, and all my cats loved a fountain. Still do. Both of my cats have passed, and lost one June 1, 2024 and also she was my bottle baby and they used it and my other cats are still using that very same fountain. RIP to My Casper who was all white and loved every cat, and any animal, and to my Lilly baby my tiny 17-year-old cat, and Lilly was a all-black cat and Yes, I did name her Lilly after a movie princess called "Legend" I knew she was going to get pampered.
i recently got a fountain for my cats, told my client about how much they love it, so she got one for her cat, he loves it, so she got one her her daughters cats, and they love it!
I tried a lot of fountain in my life and drinkwell are my absolute fav! Now i have ceramic one it looks like a japanese pagoda multiple choices of shapes and color. I got a ceramic round one the easiest to clean since its round(no corner were the gunk get stock) 😻
My beautiful girl absolutely loves her water fountain! She sits next to it and watching her is so cute! And the noise when she’s lapping up the water, I should record it to help me sleep because it’s quite hypnotic! 😂 When she was a kitten and had a bowl of water, she wanted to drink from it but unlike dogs cats just don’t have ability to lap up a decent amount of water. Whereas the water fountain is perfect for her to sit there and drink to her hearts content. She’s had it for many years now and loves it.
@@theRealestBarbieD I actually bought it from Amazon too and it’s been perfect. I’ve had it for at least 7 years. It’s one from the Catit range. Have you tried any of them?
My cats are 14 and 13. We moved from a jungle to the desert. I'm so glad to have the water fountain for them. I can see how much they drink. I see them consuming plenty of water and it gives me a sense of relief. Now if I only had a drinking fountain for myself to stay properly hydrated. lol.
My boy is prone to UTI, and he is also a former stray (my vet told me that strays tend to drink less water as they rely more on food for hydration source.) I started mixing a warm water into his wet food until the food is more like stew, and it’s done wonders in keeping him healthy and hydrated!
My cats would do anything to get into my fish tanks, I finally made them their own fountain & now they leave my tanks alone! 🙌🏽 I made my own fountain with cat safe plants and a cheap fish tank filter !

Getting a fountain SOON! I feed wet food mixed with water every morning and my herd is on vet prescribed Purina Urinary dry food. It promotes more drinking..I believe it's 50% salt! Lol. According to the litter boxes, they are drinking lots more! Our water is from a deep well with no added chemicals so it tastes great!
Adding this fountain to my Christmas wishlist this year. I’ve been on the fence for a bit, but I know my cats would appreciate having it instead of the usual double-sided dishes!
My cats drink SO MUCH MORE with their fountain! We've been using one for 3 or 4 years now. Lol, when I unplug it, getting ready to clean it, they get very concerned about why the water isn't running and come running when it's ready to go again. I also change their filters quicker than the manufacturer suggests.
Love this! After speaking to my vet and then watching you, I put my adopted fur baby on a strictly wet food diet (foster mum had her on dry only). The only time she gets dry, is if I have to go up to LA (live in SD, bout a 3hr drive in light traffic) to make sure she's got food throughout the day. Those times, I noticed that she drinks a LOT from her water bowl. When she's on wet food, she drinks a little, but clearly gets most of what she needs from her food. Luckily, I don't have to go to LA often.
I noticed that too! At first I was so worried that all 3 of my cats +1 foster kitten didn't know how to drink water, but then I realized that it's because I dump 1-2 oz of water into their wet food and they get wet food 4xs a day so they're getting so much water already. They pee a lot and have hydrated poops so I guess they just don't need to drink from their bowls.
So glad you mentioned adding water to wet food as I do this to give my cats L lysine supplement. I mix in a little water first before adding the wet food!
Yes I always make sure there are multiple water bowls all over the house, keep them changed, and they get 3 or 4 wet meals a day. Also just discovered those squeeze treats which also have a lot of water content. I have to clean their boxes twice a day so I’d say everyone is getting enough water!
I just bought a fountain a month ago. I also keep a big pan of water in the kitchen because I have dogs too. The cats love the fountain which also lights up in the dark and provides a lovely little oasis in the room. The sound of trickling water is nice for humans too. Fountains can also filter the tap water so they aren’t getting chlorine and metals in their water.
The water fountain is a common stop for all of my cats and dogs! The more often I clean it, the more often they drink. I do it everyday now and have noticed a difference.
I normally leave several water bowls out for my cat, Fire, but I notice that she will only drink from the smallest bowl and not touch the bigger ones. She loves water from the sink tap, so I think it's time to get her a fountain ⛲ thanks Jackson!
I’ve made my own water fountains, using large clear glass bowls, small aquarium pumps and the hosing necessary. My cat loves the moving water, whether it bubbles up towards the surface, or rains down over coral type shells.
Thank you, Jackson.!! ..How could I not have thought of this before? ..Sooooo critical now with the crazy heatwaves going on all round the world. 🥵..I just ordered one…👀🤗👍❤️
Anyway I always like to hear Jackson's point of view, it helps me thinking cat and transmet this knowledge to my second half so all the creatures in my home are happy and understood!❤️ Thank you Jackson!
My cats LOVE their fountain. When I first got it, the would fight over it. It was pretty funny. Guess they finally realized there was plenty to go around and they settled down and quit guarding it.
I bought my two cats a flowing water device years ago. They love it, and as an RN, I believe that the flowing water is better....it's not stagnant. In the wild, big cats try to avoid water that is not moving, flowing water is safer. My boys first fountain "died", from old age, so I got them another one...it is a flower where the water flows out in a few streams from the flower. I like this one even better than the first one. The first one only had a slide that the water flowed down. My cats love flowing water so much, they jump up on the sink and drink the water from the faucet...I just have to watch where I spit out the toothpaste, since Maxi and Peanut are on the sink whenever I use the bathroom or kitchen sink. I will not buy a bowl where it sits all day in a bowl. I do not like water that has been sitting out all day. I think it is a good investment! ❤🌞
My resource aggressive/scarf and barf kitty's behavioural difficulties evaporated when we got our cat's a fountain.I had use it myself infront of them before either cat was willing to go near it. But now they love it! No more scarff and barfing no more resource aggression!
💙💙 I made sure to have one fountain and one still bowl for variety and also if the power goes out (esp if we're not home) they still have a familiar water source... We have a small place for now so we only have one water station for our two babies. 💙 such important information not all cat guardians realize 💙
I started using fountains when my late Mikko was about 6 years old. He loved to splash and tip their water bowl and made a big mess. I figured if the water was exciting on his own, he might not do that. Partially right...except he liked to dunk toys in it! My other cat at the time, my Soren, would absolutely freak out when I would clean the fountain and would cry until it was back in its proper place and full.
My cat Abby loved drinking out of puddles in my driveway after rain storms, even though she always had a stainless steel bowl full of filtered water to drink any time she wanted. I also always fed her wet food to help keep her hydrated, and advise others to do the same if the topic comes up.
Thank you for this my cat only drinks out of cups we have them all throughout the house I'm going to go buy a fountain today for my 18 year old little princess
Couldn't agree more. Cat fountains are a must have and YES avoid plastic, definitely go with stainless steel or ceramic and don't fill it up completely everyday just throw in tons of ice cubes to help keep the water cold. Cats love it. Even there stainless water dish, always filled with half filtered ice cubes to melt.
Good topic. I have a water dispenser.. I fill it up and it renews from a little tank as it goes down, but a running water one (more expensive no doubt!) is interesting if it's good for my two kitties 🐱🐱
I have a big 68oz water fountain, it was for my dog. Drinking flowing water is much better then stagnant water, which would you rather drink from? My glaring of cats also love it. It's the big dog brand. I think it's 45$ online now. But I reccomend a smaller one that would need daily refilling and smaller for convenient and easier cleaning. I'm about to upgrade to a 32oz ceramic fountain myself and I'm so excited.
@@EtrnalOxKing 😂 that's brill. My kittens are partial to drinking from my dogs water bowl (doesn't go down very well with my pooch haha) but I'm defo going to get a running water one, they'll love that!

My little Smoky is pretty good about drinking. Although, I have been using a Tupperware bowl for water, so I need to get him a ceramic one. But as long as it's kept clean, he's pretty good about drinking regularly. He gets the same bottled water that I drink, btw!😁
We find that our cats all LOVE drinking water from our aquariums as well as any plants we have propagating in mason jars in water… as long as It has a plant in the water they LOVE it! We also have fountains in the house too
We like to give our cats "cereal" whenever we give them dry food (Which isn't super often). We just add water to their dry food until it floats a bit. Gets them some hydration, and has the added bonus or slowing them down so their brains have time to process that they're full. It's a quick way to get them their breakfast before you rush out the door that's not as bad for them as plain dry food but not as time consuming to prep as wet food.
@@mayalackman7581 Well we add a bit of water and smeere it into a slow feeder for one of them. One of our cats will inhale her food so fast and then bully her brother out of his food unless we slow her down somehow.
@@limmel3588 hey! I have zero recommendations at the moment. I imagine most of these would work if you had the budget to buy distilled water for them or had a filtration system in your home. I don't have the budget for these things so I can't justify the price of buying a fountain every six months (typically how long it would last here with water quality from past experience with fountains!) If you come across one that beats hard water revisit me! 💚
@@mqrkoh it isn't just about the filter, if you've ever dealt with serious hard water you know that the deposits it leaves behind clogs everything, not just the filter :)
They are good as long as you change the filters and clean the fountain. They get slimy real fast. I love the stainless steel fountain you’ve shown! Very nice!
When my two old men were still alive, (both passed in 2019), used to have a filtered water fountain that I actually would fill with water from my Britta pitcher. We also had an automatic dry food feeder from the same manufacturer. Unfortunately, both were plastic. But, at least with the water, it was doubly filtered. When they passed away, we didn't think we were getting more cats. We've got 2 Pitties who grew up with cats so, that wasn't the problem. It was the heartache. Fast forward to present time, we've gotten 2 kittens from a neighbor. Unfortunately, they're confined to our bedroom, not only for the A/C unit but, hubs decided now was the perfect time to renovate both the kitchen and dining room. It's a small house, the kittens are still pretty little and, unfortunately, we've somehow got mice and rats invading our house so, traps are placed in certain areas that our Velvet Hippos can't reach but, kittens can. Everyone drinks from the big stainless steel dog bowl, often washed and filled with Britta water. They DO have a small ceramic bowl for when they're caged for the night, so they don't climb anything they shouldn't an break things while we're asleep. My hubby turned an old dog cage into a condo for them, complete with 1 large loft, a catwalk to a smaller loft and a ramp with steps covered in foamy felt like material, so they don't get splinters. It fits a small litter pan,and has places for food (both wet and dry) and water, away from their potty. I REALLY hope hubs finishes the work SOON because 1, I need my darn kitchen/dining room and living room back, ( it's a small house). And 2: the babies are growing and will soon outgrow their "Condo" but not normal kitten antics. Lol. I'll be looking on Jackson's site for a fountain, once I get my darn house back.
I wanted to get a fountain for my cats, but after looking at different types & reviews on Amazon, I read a ton of reviews about worms in the actual filters. It scared me so much, so I didn't buy one. We need to trust the country that those filters are coming from.
We have 2 stainless steel fountains for our 6 cats plus 2 ceramic water bowls. They drink so much more water out of their fountains. I put bottled water in them and add 1-15.9 bottle of water to each fountain every day. Plus I dump and clean once a week. 🐈🐈⬛🐈🐈⬛🐈🐈⬛🐾❤️ Thanks for all the great information Jackson!!❤️
Me too! So I started putting extra water in the wet food because she quit drinking from her fountain and her bowl when we switched from dry food. But her urine clumps are twice the size they were when she only ate dry food and drank from her fountain, so I figure we are ahead now.
I might be getting a kitty soon and im still debating whether or not to purchase a fountain. Glad i stumbled on this video while gathering info. 🤗 Thank you!
Do you have any recommendations on water fountains? My cat Rahli has had a few in the past but still had a couple incidents of chin acne which he dug at later, so we are trying to find the best option. We did routinely clean the stainless steel one we had and wanted to know if there was the best option out there. Thank you for all you do!!!
Stainless steel, ceramic, glass. The flower one is plastic, porous, more of a breeding ground. And as @MourningStarLucifer said, location and keeping it fresh helps!
These are not difficult to clean. I have had one for over 20 years and my cats have never gotten infection from it. And with it being flowing water,it is much less likely to get an infection in it then a regular bowl. I clean mine once weekly and usually the water looks as clear the day I clean it as it did right after I last cleaned it.
My cat used to live chilled water, she would meow by the water bowl until I put fresh chilled water in, she lived until she was 21 years old , I miss her.
My cats pass and present have had fountain running water for years. When it was hot I added a bowl I kept inside the fridge of cold water. I wasn’t sure if he would like it or not. But boy he really liked it and still drank a lot from his fountain. I had a question about the noise that started. I’m on my third electric part. But all is good.
When I first bought a water fountain, one of my cats Tia slept beside it the first night we had it. She has also broken 2, she keeps trying to work out where the water is coming from! She has ended up knocking them over and breaking them, lol!! I have now 'blu-tacked' to the floor, works a treat!!🐈⬛😻
I had a feeling my tap water was no good; this was confirmed when my cat consistently snubbed his water when it came from the sink, and not from bottled water.
I've been using the 'iPettie Tritone Ceramic Pet Drinking Fountain' for my 3 girls since Jan 2020. I love how quiet it is. I did have to put it on a tray with some gripping shelf liner though. I have a manipulator--any water vessel must be pushed and/or headbutted
Thank you for this comment! I feel like I’m going cross eyed From looking up so many fountains. This one had some questionable reviews, but I think I’ll try it. I’ve been using a fountain that is entirely way too big and I’m hoping that she’ll still like this one. 🤞🏼
@@jordypocket np. I tried the Avalon fountain first. It's a similar design but the spouts stream into the reservoir making a constant trickling noise. That can scare (or attract) some cats but always just made me have to pee lol. Also annoying while watching tv. The tower also didn't have as wide a base (important for a headbutter). The Tritone's tower base flares out making a sturdier base against a furry battering ram and the spouts stream onto the tower so silent operation. I'd say my only complaint is the water level needs to stay pretty high to keep the pump silent but fresh water isn't a bad thing, y'know?

When I used large bowls, they were constantly tapping the water with their paw to make it move so they could judge where the level of water was since cats have a harder time seeing still objects. Since I got the fountain they seem to be much much happier and I'm not constantly fishing debris out of the water!
great information, good plug. Thank-you!
OMG is that why my cat keeps moving the bowl?? One of them dips her paw in and licks it but the other is always moving the bowl, until it falls off the shelf lol.
@@aoifeandginny5569 Yup, that would be why 😊
@@micah06v8 Mind blown!
Ours doesnt care, fountain or not he just makes a big mess! I need a fountain which doesnt let him do that!
One of my cats loves drinking out of the tap so we bought him a water fountain that has a spout, he won't go near it. My husband takes a pint of water up to bed with him every night, the cat drinks out of it as soon as hubby goes to sleep! I love cats, they just do what they want 😹
Try putting ice cubes in the fountain!
@@strsjk Thank you, I'll give it a try 😃
When my cats were on dry food, I used to add water to their food or homemade broth when available to make sure that they'd get some extra hydration while eating. If you're feeding your cats dry food for whatever reason, you can buy goat milk, chicken broth or bone broth that's cat-safe and tasty so that your cat's dry food isn't 100 percent dry!!!
My cats are now on a part raw part wet diet and doing well 💖
Jackson does not recommend dairy for cats.
Same! I used to wet his dry food with water but I switched to a grain free brain and now feed their dry and wet food to him together. He loves it!
@@wendyshell8679 the reason why he doesn't recommend it is because cow's milk is very high in lactose and cats are often lactose intolerant. Goat's milk is low in lactose and generally doesn't cause issues, and you can also find lactose free goat's milk specifically for cats.
I feed my new sphynx kitten the same as what you do. I wish I’d taken care of previous cats as well. I’ve learned how to be a better cat mama.
@@lemonadiewoodlander4290 why use milk anyway, milk is only for babies. It's much better and much healthier for cats to drink bone broth.
Thank you, now I know why my Angel kitty gets acne on her chin!!
I'm switching to non plastic. ❤❤❤❤
Parallel: we had a German Shepherd who got an acne-like condition from her $ plastic dog house!
At first she kept popping out the flower spout so i took it out and just had it bubble up from the center but i pLaced the flower back on now and she doesnt touch it

my cat used to dump his mouse catnip toy in his (catnip tea???) and play around XD now we have a fountain, no cat toys in it so far
After having our cats drink endlessly from an ornamental rock waterfall in the living room, I bought them a fancy filtered cat fountain water dish, and guess what... The little floofbutts still prefer drinking from the ornamental one!
Well, yes. It's ornamental and so are cats.
Lol
Adding floofbutts to my regular circulation of cat words thank you
Very interesting.
Creatures of habit they are
My cat Rescue loves his fountain!
I bought my Fig a kitty fountain to discourage the little stinker from drinking from the toilet! Also, Jackson said so. That’s reason enough 😅
It also helps to keep the lid down on the toilet! It should be anyway, for everyone’s health.
Fig is a GORGEOUS name. cutie 💕
Yeah... I always ket the lid down but one if my cats often tries to drink the water from the toilets when I'm using it...
@@elisa4620 ... how is that even possible?? 😳
Snickers just figured out how to turn the tap in the bathroom sink on for himself.
But has he learned to turn it off? LOL

(in like the last week of her life she was somehow managing to be dehydrated but still drink enough to pee four times a day...)
From what I've been told, cats are just prone to kidney failure because of how small they--and, consequently, their tubes--are

at local parks in my area, I have noticed 3 different water fountains, at different levels, one for adults, one for kids, and the lowest for pets, such as dogs.
Watching Jackson galaxy, the first thing I did before adopting my cat is to get a water fountain! That’s his spot, he loves it!
I felt kinda bad having to take it away from him, but also kinda glad... he got over it when we just went and played with something else lol
Even 8 years later, I miss him every single day.

A thousand likes and no dislikes. Totally right!
My beautiful girl absolutely loves her water fountain! She sits next to it and watching her is so cute! And the noise when she’s lapping up the water, I should record it to help me sleep because it’s quite hypnotic! 😂
When she was a kitten and had a bowl of water, she wanted to drink from it but unlike dogs cats just don’t have ability to lap up a decent amount of water. Whereas the water fountain is perfect for her to sit there and drink to her hearts content. She’s had it for many years now and loves it.
Where did you get it from because all the ones I bought from the pet store and Amazon stopped working after 3 months
@@theRealestBarbieD I actually bought it from Amazon too and it’s been perfect. I’ve had it for at least 7 years. It’s one from the Catit range. Have you tried any of them?

Awww look at Pishi bless that 18 yr old baby 🙏🥰
My cats have loved their water fountain, definitely drink more than when it’s just in a bowl! 🥰
Jackson Galaxy, you are so wonderful. Such a kind, gentle man. You are the antithesis of toxic masculinity. Thank you for being you.
My cats would do anything to get into my fish tanks, I finally made them their own fountain & now they leave my tanks alone! 🙌🏽 I made my own fountain with cat safe plants and a cheap fish tank filter !
I love the fact that you adapted to what your cats were saying that they loved. Great work!
@@JacksonGalaxy absolutely!!! They’re my babies! 🥰 I’m also in planning stages of their catio because my cat BEGS to go outside but I don’t trust them to stay out of the road and not bring me offerings 🥴🙈
Our old boy is 19 (will be 20 in April) and he loves his fountain! And I love watching him drink from his fountain lol it’s so cute
Adding this fountain to my Christmas wishlist this year. I’ve been on the fence for a bit, but I know my cats would appreciate having it instead of the usual double-sided dishes!
I switched over my cats from a bowl to a fountain about 6 months ago and my Siamese is in love 🥰
2:23 Elderly baby! Aww, Pishi is so precious! I want to give her all the snuggles.
My kittens love the wide bowl we use for the dogs' water.
Jackson, thank-you for continuing to advise, suggest, and help cats with their humans. You are one cool hep cat!
The water fountain is a common stop for all of my cats and dogs! The more often I clean it, the more often they drink. I do it everyday now and have noticed a difference.
I think the fountains I bought for my kitties are the best things ever!
I normally leave several water bowls out for my cat, Fire, but I notice that she will only drink from the smallest bowl and not touch the bigger ones.
She loves water from the sink tap, so I think it's time to get her a fountain ⛲ thanks Jackson!
I would go for a steel or ceramic one, the plastic ones use filters you need to replace while the ceramic ones can just be washed.
Very timely! I just purchased one from Amazon and will arrive today. Good to know what Jackson will say 😹
@Choupette La Calicotte think so! 😂
You’re welcome!
💙 such important information not all cat guardians realize 💙
thank you for mentioning the importance of not buying plastic products
I started using fountains when my late Mikko was about 6 years old. He loved to splash and tip their water bowl and made a big mess. I figured if the water was exciting on his own, he might not do that. Partially right...except he liked to dunk toys in it! My other cat at the time, my Soren, would absolutely freak out when I would clean the fountain and would cry until it was back in its proper place and full.
Honestly I trust Jackson Galaxy the most out of anyone on UA-cam. This video was sooo informative!
My cat Abby loved drinking out of puddles in my driveway after rain storms, even though she always had a stainless steel bowl full of filtered water to drink any time she wanted. I also always fed her wet food to help keep her hydrated, and advise others to do the same if the topic comes up.
This is very helpful. Thanks for explaining the why behind why they prefer fountains.

I was just going to ask you if you have a favourite fountain. I’ll check them out. Our two love theirs. It’s more of a hassle to keep it clean since their new puppy (now 65lb at 7 months) loves it, too. Dogs, man. They’re so uncivilized. 😂
I just got a fountain for my 2 new kittens . I hope they like it ! I’m picking them up tomorrow and super excited 😊
We also have fountains in the house too
My cats genuinely enjoy their fountain. I love that mine purifies the water and keeps it cold. It makes me feel like they live in luxury. 😂💖💅🏼
How does it keep it cold? Is it insulated or refrigerated?
What brand is your water fountain?
Just what I needed to know! I have been thinking about getting a fountain for my cats. I will start shopping now!
How is wet food time consuming to prep? It takes me about a minute to open a pouch of Sheba.
@@mayalackman7581 Well we add a bit of water and smeere it into a slow feeder for one of them. One of our cats will inhale her food so fast and then bully her brother out of his food unless we slow her down somehow.
My cat refused to drink from a normal water bowl and always begged for turning on the water tap. Got him a water fountain and he loves it.
I find alot of the fountains are really hard to keep clean especially if you have hard water .
Im having the same problem. What kind of fountain are you using right now? Thanks

My cats and I love their fountains! I keep them very clean, have a clean spare to switch out while I cleaning the others.
My cat is obsessed with her fountain. Before that it was just bowls and she didn't really like it.
Awesome, I bought one porcelain fountain, expensive but so worth it! Thanks Cat daddy!
I wanted to get a fountain for my cats, but after looking at different types & reviews on Amazon, I read a ton of reviews about worms in the actual filters. It scared me so much, so I didn't buy one. We need to trust the country that those filters are coming from.
You don't necessarily need one with a filter, you should change the water daily anyway.
Yeah you don't need to put a filter in; it'll run just fine without it. Just be sure to clean it thoroughly; I use cotton swabs

Our cats loved the water fountains and still drinks from bowls. Pups share their bowls too by
I bought a cat fountain on Amazon with the flower and the filters and after one week I spotted parasites swimming around in the water.
We had the same issue. We moved it and now we wash it out once a week. It helped alot!
Stainless steel, ceramic, glass. The flower one is plastic, porous, more of a breeding ground. And as @MourningStarLucifer said, location and keeping it fresh helps!
We got the prettiest ceramic fountain and i can tell they drink a lot more, both the old man and the two youngsters love it
unless youre dedicated to washing every corner of the fountain, just give up dont get it, you put them at risk of infection
Jackson you are literally a fountain of information.talked me into it im going to hook my cats up with a fountain.
Fountain haha
Thank you! I didnt know about plastic water fountains
..definitely gonna change that now
My cat used to live chilled water, she would meow by the water bowl until I put fresh chilled water in, she lived until she was 21 years old , I miss her.
I LOVED to see Pishi. He looks exactly like our 18 year old who passed away a few years ago. I hope he is still going strong.
My vet recommended a fountain as my kittens weren't drinking water. As soon as i hooked it up they both jumped onto it it was great to see
Jackson recommends a thing for my cat. I already have that exact thing! Winning at the car parent thing!
@@weotu thanks for your reply! I’ll keep it in mind if my girl doesn’t like the one I snagged off Chewy on sale with Cyber Monday pricing. I got the Drinkwell Seascape Ceramic fountain.
