Similar experience - Our roof a/c unit failed less than a year after we bought the 5th wheel new at a dealer. We were camping in south Florida when it failed and it was hot! I called a local guy who said he could re-charge it. That worked for the rest of the trip, but of course, within two weeks the refrigerant had leaked out again. Dometic said I voided the warranty by having it serviced, but then reversed themselves and offered to replace it with a refurbished unit for free, but no further warranty. This one worked for about 2 months. I bought one of those portable a/c units on wheels at home depot in the meantime. It does take up some floor space and I had to fabricate a duct holder for the round window frame corners - but it works like a champ - cooling the entire living & kitchen area. Plus it's extremely quiet. I figure I can replace this unit three times before I equal the cost of a noisey, inefficient, unreliable replacement roof-top, so until I hear of a brand of roof-top that is reliable and lasts more than a year I'm going to stick with the portable unit.
Dometic how are you addressing the quality control issues mentioned?

We just bought a new RV and avoided Jayco because they have Dometic.
Horrible units.
Can someone help me... I have this ac installed on ny RV 1 year ago... since day 1 this ac is making my room humid and it won't get cold. The compressor does not stay on for more than a minute...
What can I do to fix this problem. The RV dealer mechanics all don't seem to know how to fix it... they don't replace it again. What do I do?
I have a two + year old unit. No cold , fan still works

There is an aftermarket inside cover, for the ducted pen 11 that quotes, but horribly expensive

Only run my Dometic AC in my travel trailer when it's extremely hot because it is so loud. My Dometic refrigerator will not keep food after it is 90 degrees outside. Dealers blame manufacturers for sub par installation,manufacturers blame Dometic but still use em, awh the wonderful world of blame game that the customer suffers most. The customer is always wrong. The opening statement should have read"Learn about Dometics diverse range of rooftop air conditioning systems for RV's Loud.Louder and Loudest.Dealers should warn new buys not to use refrigerator in summer in the South after 12 noon. Wow I feel a lot better now.
JUNK! 4 replacements in 2 yrs on our new RV and now it's bad again! RUN AWAY FAST!
Same issues as listed below. Two units in two years. Refrigerant leaks out every time. Technician says the problem is the junk Chinese tubing. Run away like your hair is on fire.
Junk 2 units in three years stay away
Sadly, it'll take a Korean or Japanese company to come out with something that's more efficient and much quieter before companies like Dom will note and put some $ into R&D, quality and service.
Coleman units are quiet, powerful and reliable.

He is lying to the people because I bought a new Rv and it has a dometic Ac and it’s so loud you can not hear the tv inside piece of junk
This company has ZERO quality control. I've had two of their Penguin II units. The first one came with a loose squirrel cage. I was lucky to have discovered it before I turned it on or it would have eaten the evaporator coils when it came spinning off the shaft. The second one had a similar problem in that when I opened the box a large bolt fell out onto the floor. I went hunting for where it should have been and found it to be a motor mount bolt and it's being out of position allow the motor and both fans to rock back and forth in the housing. In this case turning on the unit would have destroyed both coils. The second unit came with a handy box installed for the 120v power connections and it wasn't secured for shipping and had flopped around destroying the evaporator coils. Also, the frame was bent in two locations. The first unit lasted less than two years. The second I boxed up and returned for a refund without installing it.
Customer service stinks, I have been on hold for 1 hour and am still #2. This stinks!
Junk air conditioners and they are noisy.
Bad fan motors in all of them.
Domestic is a horrible company. Worst AC’s ever made. Literally built to fail and they will not fix their problems they know about during production when they make the units. My camper went through 2 ac’s in 2 summers of use. Absolutely unacceptable
Three units replaced in a 2018 FR Arctic Wolf 5ER... Co replaced each one but cost me labor each time. Waiting for the new GE ROOFTOP RV AC UNITS due out as we speak. In each case units lost Freon at crappy welds. ENOUGH OF THE MADE IN CHINA CRAP!!!!

I've had two of these pieces of shit on the roof of my motor home both $2300 a throw ac/heat pump models...I am presently in palm springs and the temp in side in the salon is 90 degrees, and in my bedroom with a very old vintage ac only its 72 degrees running an 13k ac only..The unit in the salon is 15k an is as I said earlier a piece of crap...Its probably due to the fact that Dometic and everyone else is manufacturing their products in China with the aid of prison labor...I have a Dometic refer that has served me well for the last 8 years...so its not only Dometic...but this fluffy video pissed me off...
