    It is a travesty of justice that the 2 people that did this did not get the death penalty. How anyone can deny the appropriateness of the death penalty is beyond my understanding.

      Was 11-1 for Juan Luna and 10-2 for James Degorski, needs to be unanimous. Even if they got the death penalty they wouldn’t have been executed. Pat Quinn put a moratorium on the death penalty a few years later. Most people on death row aren’t executed for a decade or more after their sentence.

    I few up in the area & have known about this ever since I was a little kid. Just watching this now it hit totally different when it showed the clip of the brother sitting outside the restaurant with the “Happy 33rd Birthday” sign.

    I worked and delivered for a Domino’s down the road from there that my family owned. It was such a crazy and scary thing to happen in a nice area like that.

    When this happened it was so shocking they didn't have any leads.... then finally years later they catch them only because the girlfriend rated them out.

    Jim Degorski his brother Kevin was hiding him out for 10 years. Kevin knew the next day when they drove past Brown’s chicken restaurant.

    how much money were they planning on getting from a chicken store?

    • @joejonas3684
      @joejonas3684 3 роки тому

      Supposedly that wasn’t the only reason, one of the murderers Juan Luna was also a former employee of the store so I’m guessing it was some sort of a revenge he wanted

      Dick Portillo owned Portillo's hot dogs, which is now run by Berkshire Partners. His brother Frank ran Brown's Chicken but he has since passed on. The brothers' businesses were entirely separate.

    Genuinely disturbing how America has just come to either accept it's place as one if the most violent places on earth, or is in extreme denial about it. These would be extremely, extremely rare events in nearly any country on tge planet. This is just one of dozens of similar events of restaurant and shops subjected to robbery massacres in the last 40 years or so...
