  • Join us as we travel to St. Lucia! For this video, I teamed up with Lomography (www.lomography...) to help save 120 film! I try out Lomochrome Purple and Lomochrome Turquoise with the Diana F+. I share all of my favorite medium format photos from our trip, as well as a few tips for loading and unloading film in the Diana F+. I had to include some of my favorite Holga photos too, because you all know the Holga is my go-to film camera. It was fun testing out the Diana F+ again though, because it's probably been 10 years since I last used it. It's definitely going to take a few more rolls of film to get used to it's eccentricities, but I did end up with some photos from my trip that I love!

    I've had a Holga for fifteen years and love it! After many rolls of film I determined its "sweet spot" - which is different for each one because the quality control was so bad. I've run 120 and 35mm through it and each roll is a unique experience. That Diana looks like a fun camera, so it looks like one I might want! Thanks for sharing cameras AND cats!

      It's so true! I had a purple Holga that was my favorite for years and it had a super sharp "sweet spot" that made for beautiful photos. Unfortunately, that one stopped working and I haven't found one I love quite as much, sadly. I'm still getting used to the Diana F+ but I'll definitely be taking it with me on trips in the future to try out some of my other lenses and things I have. I was quite surprised with how sharp the photos turned out and I'm excited to see how my future rolls turn out! Thanks so much for watching! ✨

    I felt happy as i saw, that you posted a new video in your channel. I'm hoping you are having a wunderful time in the carribean / St. Lucia. I had to smile that the first scene was about the camera and a cat. Just like your passions in the name of your channel.
    Your pics showing the water and the coast are georgeous. My favourite one is the one showing the sun's reflection on the water. I think it's awesome seeing which (color) effects are possible with the Diana F and the Holga especially if you take the possibilities of the digital photography into account. Looking forward to your next video. Have a great time and stay healthy.

      Thank you so much! I know its been a little while since I've posted, but I have lots more videos coming soon! I definitely got lucky with all of the cats there, it went along with our theme for sure! :) And thank you for the kind words about my photos. I still have a few things I want to try out with the Diana F+, it has so many fun options and features, so I'm hoping to post more videos about it in the future. Thank you for watching, as always! 🙂

    To avoid a loose roll of film (and light leaks when taking the film out of the camera): Make sure the first few turns on the taking spool are really tight! Hold your finger on the left spool to give the film tension. Spool the film onto the taking spool until the "Start" mark is on the right side of the camera. If the first rounds of film are loose then the whole roll will be loose too.

      Thank you for watching and for your helpful comment! I’ve noticed that it does help when you make sure the first few turns are tight. I’ve been trying to make sure that I do that! I don’t always mind the light leaks though. 😊

    I’ve always wanted to try a holga or Diana. I have a WHOLE BOX of unopened portra 400 in 120 and I only own a weird fold out lens camera from the 60’s and it takes okay photos

      @camerasncats  6 місяців тому +2

      Oh my gosh you should definitely pick up a Holga or Diana then! Portra is an amazing film. I hardly ever try it out because it’s so pricey. I’m jealous! You should check out my Holga video, I share lots of detailed info about how to use it. They’re pretty affordable too!

      @@camerasncats unfortunately it expired about a year and a half ago since I don’t own a sort of good enough camera but also I’ve kept it in the fridge so I hope it’s stillmokay

      @@tylerbeadle-follis3338 if you’ve kept it in the fridge it will still be good for a while! I’ve used film from the 80s and somehow it still turns out! It will definitely desaturate and lose some contrast over time, but you’ve got plenty of life left in it. I hope you get the chance to try it out!

    You must have a newer Diana. Mine does not look like yours. Mine is probably an older version but I bought it at a camera show used for about 10 bucks. I am allergic to cats. All those cats would make my skin crawl. I do have a 35mm holga And 3 120 holgas. The 35mm holga has a bulb setting. The 120s do not. I am currently using a Brownie Bullseye with 120 film and creating abstracts with it.

      Hmm maybe you have an actually vintage Diana camera? Mine is probably about ten years old. Though it’s in pretty good condition because I haven’t used it much. I haven’t tried a Brownie bullseye yet but I’ll have to add it to my list! ✨ Thanks for watching!
