Allentown/Bethlehem, PA Area Railfanning on March 24, 2012

On March 24th, 2012, me and a couple of my boys went up to the Allentown/Bethlehem, PA area to do some 'fanning on Norfolk Southern. No color was seen, but several interesting catches were spotted.
9:39 AM -
Starting at at CP 88/CP Bethlehem, H76 starts off the day as they throttle nicely eastbound out of Allentown Yard, onto the NS Lehigh Line and into River Yard with a nice EMD duo of NS GP38-2 High Hood 5050 (Ex Southern) and NS GP59 4620 leading the way.

Hotshot intermodal 21M winds west through CP Bethlehem with NS C40-9Ws 9469, 9497 and 9576 leading the way.

After migrating to CP Canal, located at the west end of Allentown Yard, 16N makes their way east towards their final destination with NS C40-9W 9330 and NS C40-8 8308 (One of 14 ex CR C40-8s that NS has) elephant style. This fairly new train takes over the traffic that 18G used to take from Conway to Allentown, 18G now originates out of Allentown eastbound.

19G takes headroom out of the yard with NS C40-9Ws 9518 and 9458, and NS SD45-2 1700 for power. This is one of six SD45-2s on NS' rorster, and is one of three (1700, 1701, and 1702) to retain it's original V20 cylinder engine, definitely a rarity! Twenty minutes later, 19G is seen once again entering the Reading Line at CP Burn.

The rain begins to fall as a Hump Job is seen shoving a cut of cars through Allentown Yard with NS SD40-2 6199 (Ex N&W) and NS RPU6 Slug 862 (Formerly an ex CR, Exx PC, nee PRR RSD12!).

Back at 88/Bethlehem, 20K slows down to enter River Yard where they will drop over half of their train. 20K has NS C40-9W 9548 leading, and NS C40-9 8812 and NS ES40DC 7545 trailing.
20K - Chicago-63rd St, IL - Croxton, NJ Intermodal
1:00 PM -
After 20K cleared, 211 moves west through Bethlehem with NS C40-9Ws 9744, 9364 and 9114 for power.
211 - Croxton, NJ - Atlanta-Inman, GA Intermodal
4:18 PM -
H76 returns lite westbound towards Allentown Yard with NS GP59 4620 and NS GP38-2 5050 once more.

Now at CP Ham on the Upper Lehigh Line, Double Yard Jobs take headroom out of the west end of the yard, including NS SD40-2s 6141 and 6140 (Both ex N&W) on one, and NS SD40-2 6184 and NS RPU6 863 (Another ex N&W, Ex PRR RSD12 duo)

Closing my day, 15T takes headroom out of CP Allen with NS C40-9W 8911, NS ES40DC 7615, and NS C40-9W 9367 for power.
