I recently rode my Rad Runner utility ebike from Pittsburgh to Washington DC. I found plenty of places to charge my ebike. We covered about 70 miles per day on the trail. Riding for 2 to 3 hours in the morning, stopping for a long lunch while recharging our batteries. Then riding another 2 or 3 hours in the afternoon. Then recharged again at night while sleeping. The ride took us about 5 1/2 days, covering 370 miles with detours.
What kinds of places did you charge the ebike at?
We charged our batteries on a Sunday afternoon, using electricity at a business adjacent to the trail. In Connelsville, there is an outdoor pavilion as soon as you arrive in town. At another stop, we charged at a Hardee's. Other than those places, we charged at hotels where we stayed.
Because of the ebike my wife can now join me on longer treks whereby she could not before because of some physical/medical limitations. So they get my vote. And she now makes fun that she can beat me going up a hill.
E-Bikes are prohibited on the GAP Trail. "No motorized vehicles."
And e-bikes are legal and okay...?
Ebikes are ok.
Thanks for the e-bike review.... What about recharging the e-bike on the GAP?? Are there places to recharge? Can the ebike go long enough between recharging locations?
We limit our e-bike rentals to no more than 40 miles a day - assuming you use the eco/low mode most of the time. There are options to recharge as you get lunch, but we like to play it safe and assume no charging during the day.
Almost all overnight stops have places to charge. Most lunch stops will allow it , obviously it's a shorter time to charge. It really depends how much assist you are using.
2011 electric bikes granted limited access to gap, wattage regulated. It was to assist disabled riders not for normal lazy people.
E bikes banned on the GAP unless the cyclist is handicapped.
As it should be everywhere
@@tomfox9880 get over yourself. Ebikes help those with limited physical mobility enjoy biking.
