That chainsaw sound effect on the dremel got me! :)
Bwa ha ha ha!
When i heard that. I was like hell heahhh!!!!
Always keep tools verticals working out in the hot sun. Learned this young in Texas...
Your a brave man.
Absolutely. I was just having fun for the vid. 😀
I've seen other videos where they cut the pinch weld into sections (so it looks like several tabs), to make the hammering easier.
I've seen that done too, but even without cutting mine it wasn't hard at all to hammer it flat.
Got it. Thanks brotha!!! This and some OME springs are def my next upgrades...
Would it be fine to add seam sealer, then spraying the rubberized undercoating?
Yeah that should work.
Before you cut the cab mounts back further can you get some more + positive caster out of those UCA’s with a good alignment? Maybe shoot for 3.5-3.8 degrees which should keep a good camber and toe in check.
I am thinking of doing that with the caster, but will probably go ahead and do the extra cab mount chop too in prep for larger tires down the road. 😀
Go Longhorns and go Cowboys!!!!
Good job, good video for those who have not done it.
Thanks buddy!
Nice chain saw sound effect
Love it!
I took my fender off and used a 3foot hammer to help tuck 35s lol.
Also when I did it keep a look out for moisture under the weather techs. My cab ended up leaking there's sealant towards the tip of your toes under the carpet and behind the pedals in the corner that cracked from hammering the wheel well. It's water from your windshield that leaks through the cowl.
Adding caster will help fit the tires* too.
Ouch you must have been hitting that pretty hard. What did you use to reseal that?
Some kind of roof and gutter sealant. Mine hasn't leaked since I resealed the factory sealant in the cab :)
Nice. I don't think I was hitting hard enough to break through but I guess we'll see.
Love the chain saw! I did this out of the shoot when I put my 315 x 75 R16 tires on. It is a pain to do this I had to cut slices in the pinch weld to make it easier.
Thanks man! Are your 35s rubbing at all now?
Not now, I did the Cab mount chop originally like you did and they were way to close so I chopped the mounts off right up to the hole where the bolt is and now they are good. I also have a 3 inch suspension lift and a 1 inch body lift. Pretty much followed this video from InSain Fabrications. ua-cam.com/video/7X_0H2qres8/v-deo.html minus there end caps I did my own.
Yep I'll be doing something like that this weekend with a buddy.
I wish I would have went aggressive in the beginning instead of doing it twice. Oh well live and learn.
Same here. I guess I just thought all cab mount chops were the same.
Are there no tires that will not rub? I don't care to cut up my truck just to find another issue...
For 33s you are going to have to do some trimming, but the 255/85R16 is easier to fit than the 285/75R16.
Great idea with the shirt on the hammer. I would have tried using a rubber mallet, but this would probably make it easier to bend the metal than that idea.
I'd be afraid a rubber mallet would bounce back to quickly. Heck even the mini sledge bounced back a few times.
Yeah I showed you a pic of my CMC and how beveled it is with a curve. It’s a must for those wheels and tires. :/
Loved the chainsaw effect! I first thought what kind of Dremel makes that kind of noise....lol. Really like your vids!
Lol thanks Don! I remember I did the same thing for the vid where I cut my sunglasses panel for my SPOD switches and it was a big hit. 😀
Was thinking you may need a aggressive CMC.
Yep. Probably going to take another 1/2 - 3/4" off.
After seeing so many people re-do theirs I am going to go aggressive the first time. Seems easier.
Sounds like a good idea to me. Wish I'd done that. 👍
Oh man, that cab mount is calling my name!!! Also a box cutter will take care of all that plastic quick and easy :D
Randy. Randy. Cut me Randy!
Skipped hair and make up 😂👍 ur awesome bro hahahah great video!! Smashed the like button!!
Hey I’m about to get a Toyota Tacoma and I’m willing to spend around 30,000$ and I really like your truck. I was wondering what kind of Tacoma u think I should get. And what accessories I can use to make it look nice. I would also spend a lil bit more on it in a few months later. I really like the 2015 and the 2017 trd sport but I think the 2015 would look better with a lift. Thx
Greetings Steven! Tons of factors go into deciding on which Tacoma is best for you but I'd recommend taking thorough test drives in all the models you are interested in. Compare the features and see what suites you. Checkout my Amazon page for a ton of great mod ideas: www.amazon.com/shop/tacomaholic?ref=ac_inf_hm_vp&tag=amazonquery-20
Remember when I DM’d you on IG showing how much crap I had to do to fit my FN five star 16x8 -25 with 285/75’s? I kept sayin to myself “YOU GON LEARN TODAY. So much work for that offset.
Yes indeed! And I still got more to do. 😀
Longhorns? More like longshot.
Good one.
GO HORNS!!! \m/
Hell yeah brother! Hook 'Em! \m/
Hook’em hopefully Herman can turn it around but I’m not impressed after game one considering that had bowl practices, spring, and summer.
Same here Jake. What really drives me crazy is that there looks to be zero improvement in any aspect of their game compared to last year. Herman has done amazing things wherever he's gone in the past and I do believe he will get things turned around though.
As crazy as it sounds....I like the steel rims myself. I really wanted the 69 series wheels from Pro Comp. Cheap as a steak dinner from Arby's !!!!! Everyone says they wont clear the brake calipers though.... I guess 3rd gens have some kind of super brakes or something dang it. So now its $1000 wheels or nothing I guess. I sure would like you to say thats "crap"...."They will clear your brake calipers"
You could always run some wheel spacers like .25 or .5" depending on how close the wheels are to touching your calipers.
Do you have a video going over what shocks you run and how much lift it gives you?
Hey buddy! I talk about the suspension upgrades in this walkaround vid: ua-cam.com/video/K6c48g88e-k/v-deo.html
I do need to do an update suspension video though so thanks for reminding me. 👍
Tacomaholic thank you!
Excelent choice on the wheels... I run the same but matte black. I love them . Can you point me to your lift video? I'm interested on running 33's for that I need to lift the front and also de back ... Currently I have stock in the back and the front is level with 5100's (I think it is the middle setting) so I will like to know the setup to lift it enough for the 33's to fit. (Maybe do it my self)
Thanks Diego! I go over what suspension components I have in this video: ua-cam.com/video/K6c48g88e-k/v-deo.html but I need to make a vid on what you need to do to fit 33s.
@@Tacomaholic that would be awesome! Looking forward to that!
Wish my dremel was gas powered like yours :D
I tried looking but, did you mention what tire size you have?
285/75R16
@@Tacomaholic Thanks so much. Love the channel, Love the website. So much info my head starts to spin. I am putting same tires on stock 16's with a +30 offset. I'm just preparing how much chopping and cutting I'll need to do. I plan on using spacers to clear my UCA's, but am wondering if I need to cut my fender, or just the plastic in the wheel well. Possibly CMC.
Its time's like this that I am considering 255/80/17 on my stock rims...285's seem like a wormhole of mods and 💰. Great vid to keep the masses informed.
I hear ya. 255s sure are easier to fit than 285s. I say go for it if you like the tall skinny tires. I was considering 255s as well but there aren't nearly as many tire options compared to 285.
@@Tacomaholic thank goodness I'm a KM2 fan
Nice! I wonder if the KM3's are available in that size.
FYI 265/75/16 fits just fine on a stock setup.
You've probably already been told, but it appears your rotors are on the opposite sides. The vanes are supposed to be the opposite direction of how you have them. I know aesthetically it doesn't look as good, but for optimum functionality they go against the calipers to increase pad bite.
Hmm this is actually the first I'm hearing about this. Lol now I've got something else to look into.
I've see so many people cutting these to bend them out of the way. This seems drastically smarter.
Well adding a few knicks to the pinch weld would have made it easier to hammer over, but it wasn't too bad without doing that.
@@Tacomaholic yeah but that would be exposing metal, even with the undercoat it seems like a bad idea if it isn't needed.
Tacomas certainly don't need any extra areas to attract rust. 😀
Wheres the tailight video lol
Soon I promise! 😀
Sir I need to replace the frount seats on my 2008 tacoma 4 door pick up would like nos can you reacmnd a place
Greetings Mike! You might be able to find some Tacoma seats at your local salvage yard. Other than that you could check some of the universal seats from companies like Corbeau.
Tacomaholic got a “STRONG BACKHAND SWING” we all know what that means 😂
Been developing it since I was 13ish ...
Omg I’m in the same boat, I just put some 275/75/17 BFG KO2 on some SCS Ray 10’s I ordered last week before they sellout, and again omg they rub like a mother%!#@er,!!!, I’m getting a spacer lift tomorrow until I can afford a ICON Stage 5 lift for my 2018 TRD OR, but I’m guessing I’m going to have to do the body chop and fenders mod, really do not want to cut and wield anything but looks like, depends on what the lift takes care of tomorrow. But keep up the great videos for this fan in Texas.
Thanks for watching Stephen! Yeah you will probably have some trimming and cutting to do. You will probably have to cut your cab mount as well and then fill the gap with plates like these: amzn.to/2Noz3Xs
I could have told you that 33"s wouldn't fit on a stock setup. Lol!
Did you have to prep the surface at all before you put on the 3M under coating?
I gave it a quick wipe down with some of these ( amzn.to/2CmSrzJ ) and forgot to put that in the vid, but that 3M stuff will cling to anything. Love it.
Cant stop laughing at the fact that your doing this mod in you apartment complex parking lot!!!!
Usually I wait to do this loud and annoying stuff until my neighbors are asleep. 😀
I'm getting ready to lift my 2nd gen and want to go with 285/75r16. The rims I have are 0 offset with 4.5 backspacing and was curious if those were 285/75r16, and how much lift do you have on the front and how much do you think is the minimum front lift to fit and use these tires off road. Thanks .
Hey buddy! The 285/75R16 numbers have nothing to do with the offset or backspacing and are just stating the actual tire size. My first set of wheels had zero offset and 4.5" of backspacing. I've got 3" of lift in the front and still had to trim some of the fender plastic and do the cab mount chop to clear my 285/75R16 tires. Now I'm running the same size tire but on a wheel that has 3.5" backspacing which makes it stick out an extra inch and rubs a bit more than my old wheels.
You need a garage
Don't I know it.
As far as the cab mount issues, I'm going with 35s after installing a lift and came across this Cab Mount Relocation bracket. Costlier install but sounds like it totally removes any cab mount rubbing issues.

Im an Aggie and I have my fair share of Longhorn jokes just as Longhorns have their own of Aggies. but I appreciate your videos and information of Tacoma's in general.
Thanks buddy! You guys have a tough game coming up this weekend for sure.
4:45 I take it you are a lefty
Sure hope you don't need scuba gear when you hit puddles at 75 mph😜tons of water forced in direction of front door seal without fender well liners.-
Can't see myself hitting water going that fast.
Is anything required for the rear? I've read all about this on forums but never really knew what everyone was talking about. I'm still on 265/70 so it's not a problem YET. 255/85 will be next.
Hey buddy! Unless you need to trim the actual fender to fit 35s, I haven't seen anyone do anything for the rear or have any issues. 255s fit fairly easily as well up front.
Where do they make 255/85/16. I think @JoshuaBrah meant 285/70/17
S.K.H. No I meant 255/85 r16. It's a true 33 inch. Cooper st max has that size. A few other ones as well.
Next time make sure your lens is clean ;)
Lol I know! I was cringing when editing the vid. I had wiped the lens before starting but guess I didn't wipe it enough.
Why don't you just take the plastic out?
Serves as a splash guard, but I did eventually end up removing the entire plastic piece when I jumped up to 35" tires.
thats ok, you know tom herman came from a winner, and its not texas
Aren't you worried about dirt and other crap accumulating between the body panels where you cut out the plastic fender liner?
Plenty of dirt got in there even before I cut the plastic lining. At least now I can easily spray those areas with my pressure washer.
I'd rather the dirt didn't get in there in the first place. "An ounce of prevention...." and all that. I'd spray the heck out of that area with undercoating. But that's just me.
Absolutely. I'm going to hit a few more areas with that undercoating this weekend and that is on the list. Should have just hit it when I had the tire off but I was tired, hot and wanted to finish the vid. 😀
