Brother ScanNCut Tutorial - Embossing Stamped Images - Beautiful Day by Stampin’ Up!

- In this tutorial, you will learn how to emboss or deboss a stamped image using the Brother ScanNCut. I used the Brother ScanNCut Embossing Starter Kit for this project. It comes with embossing tools, an embossing mat, a template sheet, cover sheet and a card which contains an activation code. There are 50 additional images which will appear inside of Bother Canvas Workspace once the embossing function is activated. The overall concept is that you can line emboss the images in your machine, in Canvas Workspace or, in this case, an image you scan.
First, I stamped the butterfly from the Beautiful Day stamp set with Memento Black ink onto Whisper White card stock. Then, I scanned it into the SDX125 using Scan to Cut Data. Then, I saved the butterfly to the machine. Then, I returned to the Home screen and selected Retrieve Data. I retrieved the butterfly and embossed it using the 1.5 mm embossing tool. I used Silver Foil card stock by Stampin' Up! To emboss, I adhered the embossing mat to the cutting mat with the green side down. Then, I removed the protective cover sheet. Then, I placed the card stock silver side down to emboss the butterfly. That way, the lines would be raised. I also shared an example of a butterfly which was debossed. To do that, leave the silver side up. Finally, I shared examples of an embossed butterfly card.

Thank you so much for SU and Brother ScanNCut instructional videos. They are very fun, informative and really creative!
Talk about precision cutting...wow...the snowflakes are amazing. Thanks for sharing the embossing feature!!! Awesome.
Thanks. The snowflake is one of the designs that gets unlocked with the code that comes in the Embossing Starter Kit.
Thanks for your help, you explain and I can learn from you!! (I am 79 and find new instructions a bit daunting !) thank you again.
I am a SU demo in Quebec. I purchased the embossing kit a couple of months ago, but have not had the time to try it. Your video makes it so clear. Thank you for this tutorial.
I like to save my viewers time by figuring out this stuff ahead of time. Glad you will now start using your kit. Thanks for your comment.
WOW❗ Love that❣
Thanks Lynn!

Wonderful video, you are very good about describing what you are doing. Thanks
Thanks Karen, I want my viewers to be able to repeat what I’m doing. Glad you like it.
I love all your videos! I have learned so much from you! Thank you!
Thanks Cheryl, I’m going to keep on producing tutorials as long as viewers keep absorbing it.
Thanks for showing us how to use the embossing kit. I don’t have it yet but hope to get it soon. Also I want to get the foiling kit so I can use that for my Christmas cards. Thanks again!
You are very welcome. I don't have the Foiling Kit yet. Cah-Ching! We have to keep buying stuff to have all of the bells and whistles. I read somewhere that they are even coming out with a Disney version of this machine. You know that will be a hot seller.
Your tutorials are so amazing!! ❤️
Thanks, I’m glad you like them. Thanks for taking the time to comment so that I know others are out there watching.
Thanks!
I appreciate your Super Thanks! I hope you found this tutorial useful Lois.
Well this is cool Kim! I don't have the embossing kit so I will have to get that and learn how to do this with my SDX 125. As always Kim great tutorial and thank you!
Thanks Kathy, I don't remember paying this much for it. Prices seem to fluctuate a lot on Amazon throughout the year. Still worth it to get the tools and to unlock 50 more designs. Here is the link. Embossing Starter Kit

@@PaperedChef Thanks Kim. So this Kit works with any of the ScanNCuts? It's universal?
@@kathyf6882 I have already used it with my CM350 and my SDX125 and it worked great. So yes, I would say it is universal like the pen holder.
Hi Kimberly, That is just fantastic, lovely to see how it all works, I like the debossed B/fly the best, I hope your throat improves, It did sound a little scratchy, TFS, Cheers Anna.
Thanks Anna, they are both unique so it is hard to decide which one to love more. Throat is still scratchy but the show must go on.
thank you so much for your videos, i enjoy them a lot, and learn also. thank you
Thanks! I am glad you are learning from my videos. That is my goal for sure.
Congratulations to my new customer Laurie H. who is the winner of the Time for Tags stamp set. Thanks for your participation in my 10K subscriber giveaway.
Hello, I love your tutorial. Can you do a tutorial with region emboss? Its so confuse to me....to do region emboss. Can I do region emboss in other way in the sacancut machine? thank you!
I am not sure where my Embossing Starter Kit is and wasn't a big fan of Region Emboss. I really thing Embossing Folders work much better than the ScanNCut. I will see what I can do it I come across my kit again. Some things just may not be worth the trouble.
@@PaperedChef OK. I'll be waiting... anyway I thank you for your attention and care
Great tutorial, just like your others. I got my embossing kit a while back but haven’t used it yet, mainly because of the Embossing Mat and worried about using it all up… have you heard or tried any alternatives to the Embossing Mat? Maybe foam sheets?
Thank you for getting back to me with a solution. For some reason I cannot pair the machine with Canvas and have tried all of the options. Can I use the embossing tools for other designs on flash drive and from the machine. Stay safe and healthy!
Great demo. Love how you explain everything. I looked into the Patreon link but not sure exactly what it is. Will you be posting that video soon?
Thanks Susan, Oh yes! That is the plan for next week. It is a way of supporting the channel and getting audience participation. I would get a predicable amount of support and then the supporters get perks like free courses, cards, my Mom’s beautiful aprons, crafts likes cards in the mail, etc. I just thought of some perks but as you can imagine, I can dream up new perks through Patreon only polls. The polls would be to help drive content too. So, if the majority votes on a topic, that would’ve my next tutorial.
I enjoy watching all of your videos! I have the ScanNCut but it sits more than I've used it. The question I have is, I see you move your machine around a lot when doing your videos....is that good for your machine? will it throw the alignment off
My alignment is off all of the time. That is even when it is just me and I align it 10 times without moving the machine. I’ve never been able to cut a stamped image on the SDX125 as well as it would cut out on the CM350 or CM300. I’ve moved those machines around just as much except the difference is that they are easier to slide. They are not heavy. I will keep on trying because I’ve got it to the point of passing muster and it sure beats fussy cutting.
The butterflies are beautiful. Can the foiling option be used on the sdx 125 ?
Yes, of course! You would have to get the Foiling Kit. Then, you can use a glue pen, foil, etc. to make your designs.
Hello. Can you do a tutorial with region embosing? Tank you.
I didn't create a tutorial on this because of how time consuming it was. I just recommend embossing folders which are much more efficient in my opinion. I didn't totally give up, it was just way too time consuming.
Can you use the scan and cut to make weather proof car decals or put designs on wood
Oh yes, of course. The ScanNCut cuts vinyl and you would get the weatherproof type for outside. Then, use Canvas Workspace to design your projects.
Hello! I really enjoy your videos. My question regarding is, how do you flip words so they are embossed not debossed. Thanks you for your input.
Sammie, There is a Mirror option in your settings where you can flip your text. It is two triangles with a line between them. Either flip your text or flip your paper over. Either will give you the result you want.
Hello Papered Chef! I love your videos. I just got the embossing starter kit for Christmas and was able to emboss designs right away. THEN the next day, when I select the emboss function, my design disappears from the screen and it won't allow me to emboss because it says that there is nothing there to emboss. What am I doing wrong? HELP!!!.
Thanks
Thanks for watching.
Will the embossing link work on the SDX300D?
Oh yes, the Embossing Starter Kit works with all of the different models. There are even some graphics too. Embossing Starter Kit: amzn.to/3v1agyn
Can the CM650W emboss with kit. Do I have to buy activation card to do it?
Can it emboss cardstock? I have been checking scan n cut embossing videos but everyone is embossing foil paper.
Oh yes, you can emboss Cardstock. This IS Cardstock, it just has a foil coating on one side. Foil looks better.
@@PaperedChef Amazing, thanks!
Just checked out the embossing kit from Brother and it is almost $40 on Amazon. I am a cheap crafter. do I need more than just the mat and the two pens to emboss? Or do I need an activation card to emboss so I have to buy the whole kit? Thanks
The function must be activated on the CM350 for sure. I also had to do that with my Stamp Starter Kit. Try clicking Emboss next time if you have the SDX 125 and see if it makes you activate the function. I don't think it does because the wireless was included on my SDX 125 while it wasn't enabled automatically on my CM 350. So, it if IS activated, then you just need the tools and the embossing mat to do line embossing. There is another type of embossing called region embossing. That requires the template material and cover sheet. Anyway, back to the Starter Kit. You get a card with 50 images on it too. Considering that other sites often charge 99 cents an image, then the kit isn't so bad.
Is the embossing kit, compatible with the CM900 machine?
