BOD MON it's called Satanism, and obviously it is just for hype. Alkaline has talent like millions of other artists but he takes it to the next level with image and the fuckery. So why ppl out here a talk shit bout di yout? Pure jealousy. Red eye. Green eye. lol. Me nuh know him personally but him is just a normal man like di rest. Some willing fi "sell dem soul" because them break some rules like kartel (i don't mean breaking the law) and ppl love it coz ppl love hype. Substance in dancehall is rare so if anything there is more depth to his music than many artist out there who ONLY copy and don't have any original flare. just love di music or go find some next music fi love. coz it's really all about the music (in my opinion).
We're basically stating that they have enough talent they don't have to sell out fi di fame.... Kartel start it, and people see seh it sell, such everybody wah worship Satan. It's a bad image and if you can sell ur soul fi money you would sell ur ass.
k lee lol i agree it`s not really a healthy or wholesome image in ANY way. It's not gonna help any fan reflect on life or solve any problems. It could only benefit the artist dem pocket. But isn't being bad basically necessary to be a serious dancehall artist? Super cat gun talk, Mad cobra and shabba with vulgar lyrics, and then as the world get worse, the music follow? Kartel has proven he has real talent and i certainly don't agree with many of his choices but to single out Alkaline or Kartel as being sell-outs is a bit unfair. Ever since there was something called record company, people have been "selling out" to bring their music to the world. The more successful ones like Bob Marley and Pharrell Williams, Andre 3000, for example were able to get back to making music the way that was TRUE TO THEMSELVES but they had to make music strictly for selling records for years before they could bring their original flavor to the world. In my eyes it is damn near impossible to be a big music star without altering your style (even temporarily). Of course you have many waste artist who have nothing to offer so they fizzle out as soon as their fake style gets old. Anyway, I think the reason why many people believe Kartel is brilliant is because he took his spotlight and did what many many many great people have done in history. Lead the natural rebellion against the values and culture of our parents' generation. For example JA that we know has never supported bleaching or devil ting. But the first person to rebel usually becomes a legend. Change is inevitable, so when Kartel's bad image legacy is at it's strongest, a new movement will again go the opposite way. Let's call it music economics. In reggae and dancehall there is so much music I think this happens faster so we will probably see it bounce back a few times in our lifetime. p.s. the batty sub-culture in jamaica seems to be growing and mixing with badman culture a bit (so i hear, havent been back in many years now) so who knows Kartel and Alkaline might very well sell (or have sold) their ass if the price was right lol. smh at all of it. I'm not a rasta man, but I can't wait till we get a next Rasta take over and di devil ting fade out.
