Simply take a 3D model into blender, unreal or unity, edit the shading to fit KOF style and then export all the frames of the 3D model as a spritesheet. Would only take a week or so realistically speaking. There are tutorials on youtube and the process is super simple. Has come a VERY long way from what was available in 2009

Athena, Kula, Leona, Ralf, Clark, Claw Iori, Ryo, Mr. Karate, K', Maxima, Mai have the best NeoMax imo. I like the artstyle of KOF XIII It is unique, it looks like a mix of anime and cartoony. Mai, Yuri, King, Ryo, Kim, Kensou, Athena, Leona and Takuma look amazing! Mai and Takuma's new stances are much better than the originals. KOF XIII Kensou is best design for him Chibi Athena is overhated, I love her 😊

I understand why SNK didn't want to bring back Psycho Medley, it would be too difficult to animate using 3D models. But I wonder why they removed Freeze Execution if they put it in KOF Maximum Impact 2/Regulation A and those games use 3D models 🤔

And later Capcom made CvS using a new 2d art style that wasn't so elaborated as the SF3 style. And those games did better than SF3 in the end, not to mention SFA3 and MvC2, games that still used Capcom's mid 90s art style.

Joe, K, Andy, Ryo, their recent Climax moves are still recycled from KOF 13. And in some cases like Joe, KOF 13 wasn't even the best idea of "strongest super" he ever had. So the fact this idea keeps being recycled makes the situation worse... To me he needs to use his HSDM from KOF 02.

Some ideas for the supers are also very boring. If you compare to "Lv 3" supers from older games like KOF 02 and KOF 11, some ideas are more creative and don't rely to exaggerated bombastic full screen effects.

Most of them look like cheap mugen particle explosions. The quality of the pixel art on bg and chars got ruined by the generic looking of the filtered spark effects.
The truth is that SNK made good special effects in the late 90s, which were great for the time and especially considering the NeoGeo limitations. Then they keep reusing the same effects for too long. But when the situation forced them to actually work on new things in the 2000s the consequences of their laziness started to show... KOF 11 new effects are not very good, KOF 12-13 effects are not a good for the time and a poor evolution from 11, and finally the current 3d games are showing shameful bad special effects too. All because the KOF devs started relying too much on recycling things and didn't invest in evolving their skills at special effects.
We will never see such well animated pants for Kim in other king of fighters 😔
