This has got to be one of the greatest songs of all time. ❤
✨ 🎼🎼🎼 ✨
My younger brother died, age 33, april gone -and this was the b-side to OMD on tape. We sung it so much. I miss him. Hard. I would rather be dead than miss him this much.
He wouldn't want you dead or suffering if he loved you as much as you loved him. I'm sure he would want you to be happy and live your life to its fullest. I lost my mother and she is with me every day.
My condolences.
Módl się do Matki Boskiej😊
I am with you, have strength
Man such heart felt words , sorry for the loss
I recorded this song from the radio in 1996 and only in 2023 I finally discovered its title. Now I’m listening to that at least once a day. A memory of my youth and a goal reached after 27 years 😊
Same thing, just found an old cassette) it said: OMD - Walking on the MW. I decided to look it up😊
me sucedio exactamente lo mismo..
It's pretty damn good.
Yeah happy times!
I can relate to that!
How was this not a massive worldwide #1 smash? Unbelievable. One of the best records of the 90s.
Radio stations didn't play it because they wanted more Britpop and stuff. It's an upsetting read.
I always say to my husband the only problem with OMD, is their intelligence . Their music was almost too good, hence they never got the number one singles which many of their songs deserved. Because all their songs were so strong and so perfect( I do have a soft spot for sailing on the seven seas)
@@themoores9817 As a 57 year old man their songs released around the early 80's ..Joan of arc, Souvenir, Maid of orleans, electricity, defined a lot of what i went through in my turbulent teens and I always turned to their LP Architecture and Morality to give me some quiet time when the the hormones were running rampant. Now at 57 years old I play those songs and chill and reflect on the stupid decisions I made but cannot undo and I smile. At least I was born in a time that OMD existed.
@@rickogden204 I love a&m. That album is just so good.deffo my favourite of the early albums
The world wasn't ready to walk on the Milky Way
❤
There are no miracles, but this song is a true miracle
Sometimes there are songs which get tucked to the back of the mind and the joy you get when you rediscover them is brilliant.
Worded that perfectly mate 👌👌
@@talsophos Thankyou!! God bless ya mate and happy listening🙂🇮🇹🏴💪🏼
Six years on from your comment, this is EXACTLY what happened to me just now. :)
@@AutisticNotWeird Fantastico🙂🙂
I re-discovered this song 3 years ago like it had been waiting in a hidden part of my brain all these years. It was like meeting an old friend you grew up with whom you hadn't met for over 20 years.
I have had this happen only a few times before. Always by Erasure was another gem that I rediscovered.
I love Andy McCluskey's voice so much....
Especially at the end of this Song ❤
Wow loved this when I was teenager! Now I’m so old🤣🙈
Same as me
No🎵🎶🎶🎶😎
One of the best songs of the 90s. Absolutely beautiful!
one of the best songs to come out of the 1990's . one of the best songs ever
Absolutely ❤️
This song is a hidden gem!!! If you listen to it once you'll want to listen to it every day for the rest of your life. Class...
Perfect answer! When IT was released time was better
I am old enough now, so I can totally agree to what the Song is about. Sonetimes it is hard getting older, believe me.
Hannah Clive's vocals are so unique... there should be a whole version with her singing that song :(
So true, the best part is when takes over.
Should have been played on this tour , brilliant song
😅
underrated brilliant record
for me it ist the best of OMD.
It's McCluskey's masterpiece. He will say so himself too.
OMD has made some terrific songs like Romance of the Telescope and Electricity but this one takes me back to 1996 when I was 11 years old and full of dreams. Bitter sweet feelings come back.
Still listening in 2019, what a truly brilliant song, lost classic of the 1990's.
2020
Oh, listening forever and ever to this "Theme of Life" ... gone Times and Persons become alive with this unique song, lots of memories! ✨

2021
2021, too
In my humble opinion I think this is by far the best song they ever did 😄......god bless everyone and please b kind to each other xx😇😙😎❤❤❤
Oh this brings me back to my teenage years 😭where did all the time go 😭😭😭
That song was one of my childhood faves...heard it on the radio yesterday, looked it up on UA-cam immediately afterwards and boom. Them feels haven't stopped...
Have loved OMD since the 1980s...😁
This song is about Andys life with and in OMD. About the beginning as a young band, growing up and getting famous, rise and fall in the music industry.
+SirAlex74 I've always thought the lyrics were sad, but delivered in a magnificent triumphant package. That's why I bought it.
This Song is from 1996. Taken from the Album Universal Walking on the Milky Way is also my Favorite Song. Thank you for the best Music during my Childhood and Youth Orchestral Maneuvres In The Dark! You are the best. Greetings from Germany.
Shivers just remembering seeing it on TV back in 1996
一聽旋律就很喜歡
仔細看了歌詞後
聽著聽著眼淚就跟著旋律一起流淌而出了🥲🥲
Great answer
This song is just another reason why OMD are the greatest band in the world. They are just incapable of writing and performing a bad song. Wonderful ❤️🎵🎶🎹💜
Oh I remember I bought the CD When this song released, because I LOVE THIS SONG
I cry in my heart every time I listen to this song, my mouth can't say anything.
Seen them 3 times in Dublin, best concert i ever seen 🇮🇪🍀🇮🇪🍀🇮🇪🍀
Great song about being young, getting older, expectations vs reality. We can all identify in some way with it.
That gut-ripping nostalgia....so painful and so delicious at the same time.....want this as my final funeral song!
Is this not just one of the catchiest tunes of the last 30 years? How can anyone listen to that chorus and NOT sing along....and not tap their foot....and not smile.....and not be uplifted? The 'not' list goes on!
In terms of style of music, this is a million miles from the likes of Enola Gay, Joan of Arc, Souvenir etc.......but it's just as brilliant as the stuff the earlier OMD treated us to.
I caught this video on a local retro music channel at 2AM, and never saw it again. I'm surprised they even have OMD, and I'm starting to believe I dreamt it.
I think this is fantastic, (In my opinion the best track of music ever) it means so much to me and I cry every time I here it and i'm 75 now, I play it most days!
Respect!
Music is the key to life
I second that Graham.

Just learnt the sad news that Phil Spalding, the bass player credited on this track, passed away last month (Feb ‘23). He was a very accomplished bass player, working with many major artists, besides OMD, on well known albums and hit singles across a number of decades.
Seriously, no way.
Great! This song video was broadcast sometimes on Russian TV (not MTV yet) together with "One of Us" by Joan Osborne and "High Hopes" by David Gilmour, and was forgotten relative to those songs, but I still remember.
I remember this coming out at the peak of Britpop and sounding unlike everything else on the radio at the time. It got a lot of airplay and reached the top 20 at a time when that meant something. Lovely song
I bought it in tape when i was 20 years old now i am 43 still love OMD.
Hope all you guys are doing OK, this song actually brings me comfort and reminds me of happy times, whilst also telling you to cherish the times ahead. The past year has been horrendous though so my heartfelt warmest regards to everyone in here.
My birthday this month on 18th,and just one of those tracks iv'e enjoyed hearing again.
This is a blooming classic. I'm still singing it in 2021
Imagine growing up to THIS, jesus christ, this was common radio music in 96 ❤
This Song should have been hit for them too?. But their are lots great songs, that weren't hits and this was one of them.
Fitting video to this marvellous bitter sweet song
Wonderful song. .sung by local lads just 15 miles from where I was born.
I've just been shopping in Asda and this was playing on Asda FM, wow was I thrown back through the years!! Good times :)
Had no idea this was by OMD until I watched the video of them playing it with the Liverpool orchestra! So relevant to me at the minute, listening 24 years later
2019 and here I am, childhood, magic, I love this song
Simply one of the best songs ever!!!
This song touched me from the very first moment. One of my all time favorites. Awesome job OMD.
I can never get enough of this song....I'm still listening....this is the best...OMD has produced
OH MY GOD! I FOUND MY FAVOURITE SONG FROM MY CHILDHOOD! I FIND THIS SONG 23 YEARS! THANK YOU!
Come onnnnn it's omd.
"I don't believe in miracles. I don't believe in truth. I don't believe that anything can recreate your youth." Bitter-sweet anthem with bitter-sweet lyrics. OMD at it's best.
I first song I remember falling in love with. 8 years old with this in my cd Walkman on my bike. I remember thinking 17 and 21 years old seemed way off. I blinked now I’m 38. Holy shit
Great hit, congratulations friend's.
Thank's from Chile, South América
I can never get enough of this song....
Never getting tired of this song. And it always lifts me up!
My favourite song from this group......brings back some good memories 😊😊😊....God bless b kind to each other and love animals ❤❤❤
My dad played this all the time in the car :)

Я тоже это слушал часто в автомобиле... 90-е. :)
Jojjelele ~ this wonderful song got an important "message" to all humans on this wonderful "unique" planet (in the universe), especially the young ones ... just be aware of who & WHERE we are! Thx! :) ~ and ThankYou Master(Xinzhou), forever"
I was just 4 years old when released, but know it so well, cause it was played up and down in the radio
These guys are really the masters of melody
Still loving this song 27 years later, I was 12 years old when I first heard this track and saw this video, took me years to discover it again, but now still loving it at 39 years old.
And a pleasure to sing on...always makes me smile...even if that's not me smiling in the video.. 😘 MUAH!
Just today I was looking for who gave back vocal in this track, very nice voice and appearance: * rgds from Poland
the best OMD song for me...
2021 and its still a tune!
one of my fav song all of the times !
Anybody else trawling through good tunes cos we're all stuck indoors
Such a beautiful song from OMD, not even 2 million views?!
Yes agreed is very baffling, should be alot more.
😶 ... Manipulating the counter of views AND other parameters of Videos&Users !!! so, is UA-cam an example of "disrespectfully" behaviour ??? --- SHAME ON YOU, UA-cam ! 😶 YT, reflect yourself! _showing-your-ugly-grimace?"remember:you-can't-eat-money!"_ Haha! 😁 (I'm just lovin' Music&CoolStuff) ...
... and there're some "humans" who never get "enough"! ☝ those want more-and-more-and... to feel kinda "alive"! ☝Sorry, mother Earth.
Listening to this just 'recreated my youth'.... i believe this song can 'recreate your youth' ;)
Oh Yes!!! This is one of the most amazing songs of the 90's! It gives me a lot of hype! As a little kid i always thought the song was a commercial for the milky way chocolate bars! LOL hahahahahah!!!
Superbă melodie!O viață gustoasă asemeni unui"milky way"💞
love this reminds me of of high school I'm 37 now :{
It really is a masterpiece this tune.
I just found this song today through my Spotify daily playlist, and now I couldn't stop listening!
This was a really big hit in Poland. I loved it during my younger days, even though I didn't understand english back then. I have it on constant repeat in iTunes but never saw the video.
It's partly sad, partly fun but it's 100% amazing. Always will bring up the best memories of my childhood !
Brings back so many great memories. What a tune!
lo unico que recordaba de este tema es que la melodia se parecia mucho a Canon en D menor..... buscando y buscando di con el nombre de la canicon ... despues de 10 años buscandola !!!! me encanta !! me trae recuerdos del colegio
I remember this song when I had 18....first love, first dream, first everything
My favourite omd song
Just discovered this song and can't stop playing it 😅
Man you should have seen us
We were on our way to Venus

"WHEN I WAS ONLY SEVENTEEN MY HEAD WAS FULL OF BRILLIANT DREAMS. AT TWENTY-ONE THE WORLD WAS MINE AND NOTHING ELSE COULD MATTER. AS TIME GOES BY REALITY DESTROYS YOUR HOPE AND DIGNITY. BUT JUST REMEMBER WHO YOU ARE AND WHERE YOU'VE BEEN, YOU'RE COME SO FAR. I DON'T BELIEVE IN MIRACLES, I DON'T BELIEVE IN TRUTH, I DON'T BELIEVE THAT ANYTHING CAN RECREATE YOUR YOUTH":
- great song
My childhood right here, I loved this song
*love this song
OMD !!!!! Love It!❤
one of the key songs of '90s Cool Britania
This is just a fabulous creation. Even when it is a radio friendly, very hit-type melody and production performed in a pathetic manner, it's also an ever entertaining track that touches your emotions, every single time. Been listening to this since it came out, never get bored with it.
Ahhh the 90s. Such a beautifully chaotic time.
Great beautiful Video. Beautiful song.
My favourite song by omd ,it really has everything, when I play it it really makes me happy, and Andy is so good with lyrics he's such a great storyteller' and that is very evident in his music awesome.
I love the song and the video. The clip is full of signs and symbols. Each element has a meaning.
The dinasaur falling down at the end of the video is me... I'm almost done.
Really still a great song for me in lyrics and visuals ....
cracking lyrics !!!! and great song!!!!
It must be the 120th time I´ve watched this video and I don´t get tired of it! ¡¡BRILLIANT!!
Hermosa canción, increíble tema , genios omd
OMD the best production..
Yet another brilliant song from OMD :)
