Nice work! Looks great, Could I ask for you to point me in the direction where I could properly measure for the fret marker positions on top of the neck. I have a peanut as well, the finish nails as indicators makes me smile, but I love the lights, does that just mark them more properly based on scale length?
The best way would be to use harmonics. On your low E, find the a spot around “fret” 12 that gives you the best harmonics. That’s where I used my guide. You buy the lights in a strip (it’s a long LED strip made by FretFX). You buy them according to your scale. Mine was a 34” scale bass.
Hi! I just pre ordered a bass from Steve. Did you get yours finished or unfinished? I figured I would have to put some work into my own but was wondering if I should order with or without finish. How much time and effort did you put into your bass?
Sorry for the late reply, I just saw this. Mine supposedly had some kind of finish on it. It was terrible though. It felt sticky and it would have been way better without it. I sanded it off. I spent probably 20 hours on the body. But it really wasn’t that hard. It’s just, you have to sand it down (which didn’t take too long. Then I used Tung oil in between. So the longest time is in between when you wait for it to dry. The superglue fingerboard took a while. But I was new at it. So it wasn’t easy at first. I’m also not a woodworker at all. So you could easily do it much quicker if you were better at it.
I just bought Wishbass # 582 yesterday. Maple/purpleheart neck, and walnut wings.
Where did you find the fret markers
Nice work! I have a Wishbass I need to have fine tuned.
I got #86
