I love the clothes pin hack… but instead of using a craft knife to cut out a square around your design… simply add a square shape around your design that is also cut out… then weed directly from the mat BEFORE REMOVING THE EXCESS VINYL… then use your transfer tape to remove and then remove the vinyl roll… saves money and keeps your vinyl roll even at the end.
My favorite weeding container is a fountain pop cup. The top already has an X started for the straw, I just make that a little bigger. Doesn't cost anything and I can just throw it away instead of digging the vinyl out of it.
I enjoy your videos. I do wish that when you show us the finished product that the camera could zoom in, so it's easier to see. Thank you guys for showing us what we can do with Dollar tree items. I loved the blade box. I'm hoping I can find that at mine.
Hi Tanner! I am newer to the Cricut community and was given an older Explore from my sister about 6 months ago, as she just had it sitting in her closet (a Christmas gift only used once 😮). I cannot thank you enough for your videos... the information you provide in invaluable and you seem like such a fun crafter! In other words, in a room full of crafters, I would want to sit next to you! ☺ You are most certainly my favorite crafting host here on UA-cam when I need to learn more about my Cricut machine and all that I can do with it!
I use snap bracelets, using 1 or 2 on each roll. To make it easier for me, I added info like HTV, permanent vinyl, or other info so when I am done with the roll the bracelet goes on a new roll or in a basket until I purchase more. Dollar Store used to carry them in toy section but I could not find any so ordered plain white ones from Amazon and find I like those better than the colored/patterned ones from $ Store.
“I am the pilot of my own life” lol I love it! Thanks for the videos. I just bought a Cricut explorer 3 and I’m totally new to this. Looking forward to learn. Right now the machine is staring at me intimidating me, lol. ❤
Hunny it's so much easier than you think! I just got mine for Christmas and it's soooo much fun! Almost ASMRish 😅.. and Tanner and his gang are sooo helpful!! I've learned so much from them and I can't believe all the things you can make with this!! I only wish I could afford the membership so I can learn even more lol.. but his UA-cam videos are great also! And if I can do this, you can do this!! 😄💜
Me, too! For the blade storage - can the blades stand up vertically in the container? Or at an angle? If so, cut holes into the sheets of craft foam, stack them about 1/3 to 1/2 the height of the blades, and glue the sheets together. Fit into the container and set your blades into the holes. No more jostled blades, no more fishing around to get the one you want. They're all in tidy order.
My dollar tree carries actual weeding tools that works great! Also the pack of Jot Writing glitter gel pens they carry fit the Cricut perfectly and write really nicely.
You can also use the wrist slap bracelets to hold the rolls instead of the shower curtain rings. I do like the shower rings for multiple rolls and to hand them up.
when I first started with cricut a few months ago I had issue when keeping vinyl rolled up, I finally bought some snap bracelets and now my rolls are neat and tidy. Love your content, new subscriber!
For the felt hack - it is on the bottom, so it doesn't need to be the clear contact paper - Dollar Tree usually has several patterned contact prayers available.
Know what else it can be used for? Laminate of sorts. Protect your bookmarks or things like that that you have pained and then put vinyl over. It will protect it.
I got an old model cricut for 20$ and beyond a NOOB. Thank you so much for your help!! I don't scrap book but I do make pumpkin butter and other crafts that could use fancy labels
I tried the mechanical pencil hack to make a pinpen, but I had an issue with the needle sliding back into the pencil due to its smooth surface. The needle has very little friction for the pencil mechanism to hold onto, but I have yet another hack to make the pencil grip the needle better: Using small wire snips/cutters or dikes, just run the needle through the jaws, lightly biting down on the needle repeatedly, turning the needle and moving up and down the length of the needle as needed. This leaves little score marks all over the needle which increases its friction factor greatly. I went from a needle that would slip back into the pencil when the lightest pressure was applied, to a penpin that I can bang the point-side against the table, without the needle disappearing into the pencil. Retracting still works the same, press the button and push the needle against a hard surface such as the cutting mat to retract it.
You can use the clothes pins to keep your vinyl secure while storing it if you have the space to do so. I've found that rubber bands can damage your vinyl when trying to take it off and tape leaves a residue. If for some reason you need to use tape, painters tape is the best tape to use but if it leaves a residue you can use a rubbing alcohol swab on the shiny side (NOT on any printed viny) before you cut the vinyl. Just a couple tips if you can't get or do not have anything else on hand.
The other thing that works really well as weeding container are the small pocket sized sanitizing wipe containers picked up at the Dollar Tree. It already contains the cut out area. All you have to do is either use up all the wipes, or take the wipes out and let the container dry. I have 3 of them. I have been using this hack for a year now since I first saw the hack video done by Tanner. Thanks for all the ideas #makersgonnalearn
I have a plastic chips ahoy container I saved from dollar general and just cut a small hole in the middle of the lid, followed by the lines to make an X, takes the bigger excess vinyl better than just the X.
I use empty Extra chewing gum tubs. I cut a notch in the neck of the tub and vinyl goes in there, then use pointy weeding tool to get vinyl together and empty it into bin. If tub moves, a little Blu Tack on the bottom keeps it in place.
When I weed, I go to the nail section of Dollar tree and those nail bottle holders that you can fit between your fingers that is like the perfect tool because you still have your hands-free to hold down the paper and your opposite hands-free to weed with!! It’s an amazing hack. Your mayonnaise container is a good idea too if they don’t have my nail polish bottle holder I’ll use that if I loose it
I loved all these hacks especially the contact paper for felt, the blade holder (i have found some of those Dollar Tree plastic containers to disintegrate and break like ribbon candy after only a short time) if I can find that one and it doesn't break right away and the pin pen hack. I've thrown out several dollar tree plastic containers now because either the holder breaks or the bottom of the container does. I already bought a pin pen before seeing this. If I ever lose it, I'll know what to do though. Thanks for all your videos and your enthusiasm when showing us how to use them. I also like Jeanette's idea and the empty paper towel roll for holding vinyl. I try to repurpose things as much as possible.❤❤
I love all things Dollar Tree. And yes we appreciate all your free content. Next year I'll be able to afford membership and I can't wait no matter the price.
These are actually great hacks I see a lot of videos from dollar tree people saying great hacks that are stupid as hell. These are great! Totally worth watching if you were wondering if you should watch or not watch it !
These hacks are wonderful!!! I stopped cutting felt because it was too hard to get off the mats! Love the pencil idea and I have everything in the house! 😊Thank you! ❤
I will try the little silicone squeeze bottle idea. The little sticky scraps of adhesive vinyl always get stuck to my fingers and drives me nuts. Lol! Thanks for the awesome tips!
I saw a hack for using those kid like snack containers with the lid where they put their hand in for the snack. I found mine at dollar tree up here in Canada.
My mom buys the clothes pins and the small round magnets. Glues them together and you can use it to keep things closed and when you’re not using it you can hang it up with the magnet
I bought a large blk plastic spatula from dollar tree, cut off the handle n use the spatula part like a brayor... lol IT WORKS GIGGLING...n bought a smaller spatula for smaller projects
You can also use transfer tape with your felt - a lot of us have been doing this for years. I've been known to use the cheap 631 vinyl if that's all I have... It doesn't matter whether it's clear or colored - you just want something sticky for your felt to adhere to.
Such a great hack with the felt and contact paper. I have several cutting mats that are filled with with left over felt from cutting flowers and I just could not figure out how to clean them. I will definitely be pulling out this hack from my back pocket on cutting felt next time. Thanks so much for sharing!!!!!
I bought a pack from Dollar Tree and just tried each one until I found one that goes in through the lead end and does slide when used. It's trial and error.
Good info here. As for the clothespins hack, I just use paper clips. I like the vinyl roll holder, but I don’t think I have any wall space left in my small craft room. 😂
Would the clear contact paper felt back work on the dollar tree brand vinyl as well because I ruined a mat with the backing from the vinyl and can’t get it off.
Why not just add weeding lines to your project? Then, when your machine cuts, it’s all done at once. No extra step of having to get out a utility knife to cut away the excess. Also, for storing vinyl, IKEA sells the perfect item. It’s their plastic bag holder and it sells for $1.99. No need to zip ties or buying shower curtain rings. Already comes with the slot for hanging on the wall.
I tried the travel bottle before I didn't care for it but loved the hacks with the close pens and the shower clips . Couldn't see the font that the pen did needed to be larger Thanks for your time and the video .
I've been watching you recently and have enjoyed hearing about your hacks. Question: Can you use the DT Pens in a Cricut Joy also? I'm just learning things about it and trying to absorb a lot of things. Have a great Summer!!

I use the weeding square method also
I make an off set and attach it to weed it's easier on me
That’s what I do. It’s called the weeding square and it’s magic
This is brilliant! Thank you so much for sharing! ❤
😮 i never knew this ... mind blown
My favorite weeding container is a fountain pop cup. The top already has an X started for the straw, I just make that a little bigger. Doesn't cost anything and I can just throw it away instead of digging the vinyl out of it.
I bet Glad Press N Seal would work too for the felt idea.
I've seen other videos with people using it so I bought some but haven't had tried it yet.
I've used the nail polish holder. It even sits on your finger. That works AMAZING
I use that too. It's great!
I use that one as well Gyptsy, I saw it before I saw Tanner's video.
I enjoy your videos. I do wish that when you show us the finished product that the camera could zoom in, so it's easier to see. Thank you guys for showing us what we can do with Dollar tree items. I loved the blade box. I'm hoping I can find that at mine.
Yes, I wasn't able to see the writing.
I agree!
I agree. Could not see the needle in the mechanical pencil nor the print out (font)of using the dollar tree pen to draw with.
No pen image😂
Agreed.

I love the shower ring vinyl storage idea. I will definitely use that.

I like that idea better. It's less bulky.
@@richardlynngarst3728 I do the same.
I use the pet hair remover rollers for my mats. They’re great for cleaning up my workspace too!
Great idea!!
Great idea for cleanup , I use these also for the floor of my bathroom for cleaning up . (✿◠‿◠)
“I am the pilot of my own life” lol I love it! Thanks for the videos. I just bought a Cricut explorer 3 and I’m totally new to this. Looking forward to learn. Right now the machine is staring at me intimidating me, lol. ❤

That so needs to be on a shirt! 😅
I use the baby/toddler snack holder from dollar tree for weeding. It’s already got the slits like cut into the bottle in this video
Me, too!

@@pamwaldron2566 what a great idea! Even if a different container is used, still a great idea! I'm doing this.
My dollar tree carries actual weeding tools that works great! Also the pack of Jot Writing glitter gel pens they carry fit the Cricut perfectly and write really nicely.
That's awesome!
My maker3 says I don't need a mat. I have never used it, but have no clue how to start
You can also use the wrist slap bracelets to hold the rolls instead of the shower curtain rings. I do like the shower rings for multiple rolls and to hand them up.
If you get one of their tape measures you can make your own "snap bracelets" and can get a lot of them from one tape measure.
I use the salad dressing bottle to carry Valentina sauce to the movie theater for the popcorn 😂
when I first started with cricut a few months ago I had issue when keeping vinyl rolled up, I finally bought some snap bracelets and now my rolls are neat and tidy. Love your content, new subscriber!
Thanks for subbing!
We super glued the shower rings together but been hanging my vinyl like that for a few months now works well.
Stop picking on Tanner, Dylan. We can get chocolate if we want to. 😂😂😂 Dollar Tree trips never go as planned. I always end up getting extra stuff.
That is a fact! 😅😀😅
Every time
It Never fails 😆 💖
Ain't that the truth, in spite of price increase.
Yeah Dylan be kind 😅
For the felt hack - it is on the bottom, so it doesn't need to be the clear contact paper - Dollar Tree usually has several patterned contact prayers available.
I’ve used the dressing container for years! Best hack ever!
Love your enthusiasm!! Do you really cut on the lovely counter top with that Cricut knife? I cringe every time. LOL 😂
I thought the very same thing! lol then thought it is probably like cutting board wood
I used that contact paper also like a transfer tape...it's awesome
Know what else it can be used for? Laminate of sorts. Protect your bookmarks or things like that that you have pained and then put vinyl over. It will protect it.

I just put a box around my cuts and then weed it out. It keeps me from wasting vinyl and I don’t have to cut the bottom part off.
The audio was hard to hear during most of the shopping. Just wanted you to know I just had to turn the volume way up. Love you guys!!
Sorry about that!
@@MakersGonnaLearn No please don't be sorry I just wanted you to know for future video's.

My Dollar tree actually carries the weeder tool itself, the flat spatula tool as well as the small scraper tool. I suggest using all 3 when possible.
'Dylan, buckle up!' 😆
Just found your channel and am loving your ideas and energy!
Yay! Thank you!
LOL Now that should be on a shirt 😂 along with I'm a pilot of my own life 😅
Tried the shower curtain rigs. Love it. It keeps my items all in one place and cluttered free.
That is awesome!
The contact paper would work for my batting! I had to clean those mats a million times!! Thanks
In a embroidery sewing machine project I did I ironed freezer paper on the fabric. I wonder if it would work for felt.
I will use the shower curtain ring hack for wrapping paper !!!!
I have never seen someone so happy to be in the Dollar Tree and I am here for it. 😂❤
Chocolate while crafting is the best hack/tip ever
I loved all these hacks especially the contact paper for felt, the blade holder (i have found some of those Dollar Tree plastic containers to disintegrate and break like ribbon candy after only a short time) if I can find that one and it doesn't break right away and the pin pen hack. From North GA here. Love, love, love these hacks that I can actually use!!
Hello there!
Great video, would love to see my Dollar Tree, clean n well stocked like that 😂
Thanks for watching!
My favorite is the container!
Nail polish bottle holder works great same as salad dressing bottle
These are actually great hacks I see a lot of videos from dollar tree people saying great hacks that are stupid as hell. These are great! Totally worth watching if you were wondering if you should watch or not watch it !
Thank you!
They sell a weeding tool at Dollar Tree too! That's where I bought mine. I'm actually shocked that they usually go for $6
I use the salad dressing container hack all the time for my weeding scraps.
These hacks are wonderful!!! I stopped cutting felt because it was too hard to get off the mats! Love the pencil idea and I have everything in the house! 😊Thank you! ❤
You're welcome!
Omg. I am already doing that hack without cutting the vinyl and save material I love it❤
Yay!
Love Love Love me the Dollar Tree
I have been hesitant about dealing with felt material. I’m going to try it now.
Microwave that honey bun for 10sec and it's so good 👍
Dollar Tree sells the weed waste container and weeding tool at our store.
I've been using a lint roller when weeding. Works great, when done weeding just rip off and throw away.
You can also use the silicon nail polish bottle holder. Works great no cutting required.
Dollar tree actually has a weeding suction cup but in case your nearest one doesn’t that is a very cool idea!
Wooden nail sticks work great toooo!!
My mom buys the clothes pins and the small round magnets. Glues them together and you can use it to keep things closed and when you’re not using it you can hang it up with the magnet
❤ it when you say “y’all” feels like home to me!! 😊
Love that!
Love the shower ring vinyl holder. So cool
The nail polish holder could also work for weeding.
I strongly love these ideas! Please keep them coming!
More to come!
What did you put in the mechanical pencil to make a pin pen?
I bought a large blk plastic spatula from dollar tree, cut off the handle n use the spatula part like a brayor... lol IT WORKS GIGGLING...n bought a smaller spatula for smaller projects
Love the hacks but I didn't see any writing when you tried to show it. I trust you though that it worked great :) Happy Crafting
To save time, and vinyl, I just resize as small as I can go. If its a small print, usually I'll cut 6x6.
Thanks so much for these ideas. I also love the "I am the pilot of my own life" comment!
You are so welcome!
OMG love the contact paper hack!!!
Thank you!
Tanner you make me smile!
Aww, so glad!
The DT silver napkin rings works well for smaller rolls of vinyl as well

What size needle fits into the mechanical pencils? I’m excited to try this hack out! Thanks!
I bought a pack from Dollar Tree and just tried each one until I found one that goes in through the lead end and does slide when used. It's trial and error.
You have to find the correct size needle.
I was wondering the same thing. I’m assuming it is a sewing needle as opposed to a straight pin.
Yeah. What is a "pin needle"?
I would love more dollar tree hacks
Good info here. As for the clothespins hack, I just use paper clips. I like the vinyl roll holder, but I don’t think I have any wall space left in my small craft room. 😂

Fine sewing needles from the dollar store work fine, and the eye of the needle keeps it from falling right through.
I especially like the plastic ring vinyl storage, thank you

We do appreciate your content.
Thank you so much!
Absolutely digging the idea for the felt. I've seen the others elsewhere
What is that little Cricut device between the silicone container and the shower rings?
what do you put in the mechanical pencil?
A sewing needle approximately the same thickness as the lead he removed.
Ok I’m going to show my ignorance here but I’ll ask anyway. What is a pin needle? Are they at the Dollar Tree also? I ❤️’d the clothes pin hack.
You can get a nail polish holder that goes on your fingers to put your bits and pieces of vinyl
The Dollar tree one is too flimsy.
thank you for your great video. Easy to follow and fun to watch. Will be trying the hacks!
Glad you like them!
I tried the travel bottle before I didn't care for it but loved the hacks with the close pens and the shower clips .

You're always welcome!
When u use the contact paper on felt do you adjust settings in cricut so it cuts through felt and contact paper?
My local DT has a telescopic tube in the craft section that is perfect for vinyl! It has a loop to hang as well.
I appreciate all you do and love your ideas! THANK YOU!
I appreciate these videos. We don't have a Michael's, Hobbt Lobby or Joanne's close by but almost everywhere has a Dollar Tree.
Thank you!
@Makers Gonna Learn No, thank y'all. You guys are in my top for UA-camrs with quality content and I appreciate y'alls hard work.
These are fantastic! Who knew?? You are fun and a joy to watch!

All these hacks were new to me which is impressive. Thanks for sharing.

I also store my rolls of vinyl in my empty paper towel cardboard roll sometimes. Love this idea too.
So glad!

what did you use for the pick pen in the mechanical pencil?
We always appreciate you guys! I love your videos, and I've gotten some great ideas from you.
