Chicago, Baltimore, and New Orleans have some of the roughest areas in the USA.
D.C. had gotten much better it was at its worst in the 80s. Dc was the murder capital and had the highest murder rates in the country. Yes, it's true that a few blocks from the white house there are some not so good areas but nothing like it use to be. I have no problems going through that area.

    • @nfcbeast

So true. Chinatown now, where the Capital One Arena is, is unrecognizable compared to what it was like in the 80s. Not even all of SE is "bad" now - just the area of SE on the other side of the Anacostia River. You still get crime even in the best parts. No city is immune to it. During the summer of 2022, Brian Robinson Jr of the Commanders was shot in the leg in an attempted car jacking in NE DC.

Please don't Chappelle's bits so literally. He does COMEDY bits, not serious descriptions of Black American culture. This entire story is exaggerated for effect to create images of ridiculous situations. It's totally camp. Thats why his Black audience responds. They are laughing with him. They actually get the joke. So-called ghettos are not necessarily terrifying places by default. Also, an individual who commits crime, or "a bad person" can live in every community and culture across the globe. Don't take Black American comedy, cinema, and entertainment literally. It's not what most non-Blacks (especially youtube reactors) think it is. In other words, it's not that serious. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk lol

Theres sketchy neighborhoods all over America. In my city the hoods have kinda cleaned up compared to the 80s-00s but i remember back in the day you could literally drive or walk around the hood and see trap spots all over and people posted up all around selling whatever. Nowadays people connect through cell phones and social media but back then you had to go to certain locations and hoods to get drugs and those neighborhoods youd find alot of crazy drug addicts and some of them can be dangerous

Where I'm from, there's a part of town that is super nice and it is bordered by train tracks. On the other side is one of the worst ghettos in the city. Crossing those train tracks either way is like night and day. My mom told me years ago she knew a woman who lived on the nice side in a million dollar home. Her housekeeper lived on the other side of the tracks, and she basically only worked for her cleaning her house to have money for drugs. She then got her drugs from the lady she cleaned for. It's a strange place. The best part is, sitting along the tracks on the bad side is a park called "Friendship Park" or something similar, "where friends come to meet."

-You should watch the entire specials and just break them up into 15 minute or so chunks. That way you see the entire show. @@maxpowerz99 That is true. It's mostly low income housing areas aka the ghetto or the hood. Where the poor, desperate and the destitute reside. And those people are usually black. You go anywhere near those neighborhoods and yes you have a very high chance of becoming a victim of theft or a car jacking even a stray bullet because of gang violence. It's the high class crimes ( human Trafficking, Organ trafficking, Major gun trafficking, Drug Importation, etc) committed by higher class criminals that are harder to identify because quite frankly they don't fit the usual faces you see on the news. You would think Canada wouldn’t have any areas like this, but the Downtown Eastside of Vancouver is pretty seedy. 25 years ago, the government released a lot of people from their long term psychiatric care hospital, Riverview, and a lot of those people ended up on the street on the Downtown Eastside of Vancouver and as a result there’s a stretch of about 6 blocks that are not the nicest. Every time someone tries to do anything about it, they’re called a communist. British Columbia has a big corporate scene and wages are lower here than the rest of Canada because everyone thinks that since we have all this incredible scenery, people should be grateful and take less. That’s not a joke, and housing has skyrocketed. People in very modest homes suddenly have them valued at over a million. But if they sold them, they’re not millionaires and they need a place to live. And if you don’t own, you’re in big trouble, even the area I mentioned is not cheap. $850 minimum for a studio suite with shared bathroom and no laundry in the worst part of town.

We have a homeless encampment less than 1 mile away. Before I moved in, I had a pretty luxurious apartment In Jacksonville beach but I regularly woke up to homeless people sleeping next to my car. My heart goes out to homeless people who aren't homeless by choice. I have given money to a homeless person once, only to see them seemingly high and nodding out in the same spot 10 hours later. I've also given money to another homeless person and after thanking my over and over with tears in their eyes, I watched them sprint to McDonalds. America is a fucked up county. Homelessness is a problem all over America.

The worst areas in NY are far away from NYC. Buffalo, Rochester and Niagara Falls are all more crime ridden than NYC. Niagara Falls is especially bad around the falls, you don't want to be there at night. Buffalo is unsafe at all hours around Grand Central Terminal, the nice neighborhoods are North Buffalo area, downtown is pretty safe with a police station right there and cops frequently patrolling even at night. SEVEN of the ten worst neighborhoods in America are in California. Four in L.A. and three in San Francisco, and TWO are in Kansas City. Rounding out the "top Ten" . . . Portland Oregon. These are the neighborhoods that you would most likely be a victim of a crime. Most violent cities are a different statistic and parameter driven.

@Atheos B. Sapien (Ubi dubium ibi liberatas) We're talking neighborhoods, not states, Einstein. BUT, if you want to talk CITIES within states, virtually every single large city, no matter what "color" state they reside, is run by democrats. And they're all "burning down". You have eyes, right? That's cold hard facts. ALL OF MY COMMENTS/STATEMENTS ARE BACKED UP BY RESEARCH AND DATA, GOVERNMENT DATA. Why is it that whenever data is presented in a mature, well informed manner, some cowardly anonymous liberal snowflake feels the need to respond in a manner to verify their ignorance? Never before, in the history of this country, have so many idiots that voted for the "declared" winner of an election, been so angry with the results. That says a lot. . . . . Have a nice Day, Sine Mente,

There are bad neighborhoods, ghettos in every big city across the United States. Some are definitely worse than others, Detroit, New Orleans, Chicago, Baltimore has some bad areas but the thing to remember is every big city in the country has really nice areas and really bad ones. I think what makes United States ghettos worse than those in England are the fact that our country is flooded with guns, criminals have them crazy people can get them they’re everywhere.

I'm from Dayton Ohio and a few miles from where I lived there is a project called Northland. Just one street. With houses on both sides. Not even a block large. If you were white and male you were immediately shot on sight. Best case scenario you end up with no shoes or clothes and robbed and beaten to death or near death. But usually they'd just murder you and shoot you immediately. The police wouldn't even drive onto the street without at least 4-5 cruisers because they'd immediately be surrounded and shot also. Not the only place in Dayton. Burkhardt in east Dayton and east Dayton in general. And Trotwood. But those aren't exactly "projects" in the sense of the word. Just ghettos. And no guarantee anything would happen. And mostly mixed poor people of all kinds. But you could definitely get robbed. But it wasn't systematic or planned by more than a few people. Unless they already had beef with you and a problem with you. But as long as you mind your business and know the right people. You're usually left alone. So it's not like it's large chunks of areas in America usually. But in a few hot spots here and there and usually one or two specific places in a large city. There's places you'll get immediately surrounded and murdered just being white. Or in some places anything ethnicity but black. Like Northland I mentioned. But places like that are rare. Mostly just ghettos where they'll just yell stuff at you or rob you in some places. South Central Los Angeles is a good example. You might not get murdered immediately. Depending on what street your on. But if you're white and they don't know you you're fu$&#@. You're at least getting robbed. Same for DC, St Louis Missouri, Detroit and many other places. There's always somewhere in a large city. Only time there isn't is if it's a small city or town or in the country. and usually there's at least a few ghettos. usually buildings from the 40's or older falling apart. Or abandoned every 4 or 5 houses. And there's usually a mixed ghetto where it's all poor people from every race. Which there's usually at least 3 or 4. Then a few that are almost completely one race. Whether it's poor white people or black people or Latino and on the west coast some Asian one's. Not like China town in San Francisco or anything but actual poor ghettos. And despite what the world might think at least half of us here in America grew up in the ghetto. Or close to it or know people and friends and spent a lot of time there. Usually if you mind your business and don't talk sh$# to people and aren't an a$$h$# you're usually ok. As long as your not driving anything nice or looking like you have money or something to take people usually won't bother even robbing you. But there's always these few streets or a few blocks anywhere large in any large city you go to anywhere in America. There's a few exceptions. I don't think Maine or the North East above New York and Rhode Island have that issue that I'm aware of. And possibly Montana and the northern states in the "second" Midwest. As in Montana, Idaho, etc. Except Colorado. And Missouri. And probably Alaska. Hawaii does but it's not because it's a ghetto it's more of a stop trying to steal our island white man we don't want you living here instead of being a tourist thing. Doesn't seem to be because it's run down and poor. But you're going to have that issue anywhere you go in any large city in America. And if you live here you know where not to go. So if you're not from America or a tourist I'd suggest asking someone. Gas station clerk, police, or at store or anyone who doesn't look busy. Especially in New York City or something where people don't wanna be bothered walking down the street. And just ask. If we live there we know exactly where not to go and how our city is divided up. They'll tell you. Especially if you're white ask. Not saying it's not deserved but they won't gaf if they know you some people will rob you and beat you to near death or just flat out kill you just because you're white. They won't even bother talking to you or anything first. They'll just call you a white slur and shoot you. In fact it's some younger gang members initiation to just find a random white person and murder them. If you're a man. If you're a woman there's a chance they won't immediately murder you and ra?e you or rob you and leave you for dead. But if you're a white man they'll just shoot you immediately. No questions asked. So I'd recommend asking someone where in the place and city you're at where not to go. Otherwise as long as you don't wander into the wrong place you'll be fine. You could get robbed literally anywhere still technically. But it's usually 99% safe as long as you stay away from the wrong places. Not including nutjob mass shooters of course but that's anywhere in the world. It only seems worse here in America because of the size of our country and there's 380 million people here. But if you're visiting and planning on visiting around a local can tell you where not to go. And make sure it's random. As in a cashier or clerk or cop or service industry person or something. Not some random person on the street. There's always a chance they'll send you right to his buddies to get robbed or just tell you the wrong place to just be a di$# and they're a sociopath. 👍

Whenever you travel to a different location, ask your hotel to give the names of the places you should never go. In NYC some bad areas are East New York, Brownsville and Bedford-Stuyvesant in Brooklyn. The area surrounding Yankee Stadium in the Bronx is bad, but going to a game is safe due to all the police and security. Just follow the crowd and do not try to go sightseeing in the nearby neighborhoods.
All major cities in the US have bad neighborhoods. Ask the locals before going out. The only people who get into trouble are people looking to score drugs. Stay in tourist areas and everything will be fine
