I have an opportunity to buy an Atlantis. I paddle flatwater a couple of times a week but love to be on the sea at least one good session a month. I also plan on some overnighter stuff so would like to carry gear. Though I do race a bit of flatwater I'm aware I'll not be winning, I do I tend to do the sea races too. So I guess my question is, how much does the Atlantis give up on the flat, to be fair, it is normally breezy and the surface is rippled at least. The other board I have in the frame is a One Ocean Sports Edge 3 which I feel is a bit more akin to the RS.
Excellent comparison with valuable perspective on both modules, Scott. Where is your shop and the name of it ? I have been trying to find a 14 rs for the past 2 years to buy with no success. Can you help ?
Both good boards if you paddle ocean mostly then it is a harder choice. I haven’t ridden the most recent all star and they do change design Year to Year so I can’t say. I do think that the Atlantis is slower than the RS in most conditions except downwinder and super rough.
The bayonet definitely has more rocker. It also is a lot tippier feeling to me. I would say it’s more advanced down with board as opposed to an all-around downwind board.
Scott - I am looking at a board for MR340, future Downwinder, multi day trips on ocean or great lakes. Live in St. Louis and want to race, and use for multi day trips. I am looking at SIC Atlantis or Starboard AllStar 14X24. I know you are a SIC dealer, but how would you compare the Allstar to the Atlantis.

i haven't ridden the allstar enough to make that decision for you.
