    I agree with MrKjc105. The car looks as if it had better days, but these cars are fairly indestructible. I have an 04 w/54k on the clock and maintenance can get expensive if you take them to a Lexus dealer. This year, I've had an oxygen sensor that ended up being melding to my manifold and it had to be drilled off - $2900.00 cost at Lexus of Westminster in Orange County California. I over polished my hood in buffing it out and screwed up the clear coat almost immediately. So, I had the hood resprayed and the driver's side quarter panel resprayed - $1300.00. My estimates for having my bumpers resprayed were $800. for each. The timing chain is $2200. 00 at Lexus and $1400.00 at a Toyota dealer. I paid these monies this year! Nevertheless, my car looks like and drives like a new car. I also own 3 other cars, but I do love the Lexus. I'm sure that I will keep it for many more years to come. There very unusual cars and the fit and finish on them, as you mentioned, is excellent. I just wish that I could be handy under the hood in repairing like you are because it could've saved me a lot of money. I also kind of think that you need your fuel injectors cleaned because you should get better performance than what your video shows. Maybe a bottle or two of Chevron Techtron (spelling ?) should do the trick? Anyway good luck with the car. The way I see it, is even if you put 3-5 grand into it, you'd still have equity. Nice video!

      Thank you, Wayne, yes this car was not properly cared for, however, this is why I was able to get it for a good price otherwise these cars go for quite high prices. Yes, I prefer to repair cars myself, however, taking it to a professional is never a bad idea if it can be afforded to do so. I am sure the money and love you put in your car, it probably looks amazing. I agree with you, these cars are a keeper! My brother plans to keep it forever as he knows that it's going to be a collector!

    I just bought an 07 but had a bumper to bumper inspection at my Lexus dealership before purchasing. Had the timing belt, water pump, motor and trans Mounts, spark plugs, front brakes, tires rotated and balanced, oil and filters changed and a sensor, mostly maintenance. Oh, also had it detailed. Mine is just for weekend and when ever I feel like driving it on nice days. It’s a grand tourer, not a sports car but kinda unique.😎

    Nice find! The exterior does look a little neglected, but the inside looks amazing. I have a 2006 Silver one that I just finished repairing after buying from a salvage auction. It's got the ecru colored leather inside, so even minor damage is VERY noticeable. I've only been able to drive it for a few weeks now, but LOVE it. It's a great Luxury cruiser. Yours might be slow off the line due to the knock sensor. This car is good for 0-60 in under 6 seconds when in good health. For the bubble in your rear package tray, an easy fix is to prick it with a fine needle and press it down to let the air out. Also, your roof is making some rubbing noises when opening. I recommend lubricating it a bit to reduce stress on the motor and prevent failure in the future. For headlights, I recommend putting some sealant on it (usually part of a headlight restore kit). When you buffed it, all the remaining protective coating was removed so it will fog up again in a few weeks to a month (ask me how I know...). Just wipe on the sealant every month or so with a cloth to keep the lights mint, as it will wear off like car wax. I've heard clear coating the headlights is risky. If it starts to peel or is damaged, it's very difficult to get off.

    Great deal! Ours is black on black. Not often to see the black exterior with saddle interior. Ours has 156,000 miles and runs great up here in Canada. And not everyone thinks it’s ugly

      Thank you! Oh black on black is very rare, I never saw one here in Florida. 156K is nothing for these cars if it's properly cared for. This car was recently shipped to Ontario, you might see it one day!

      @@Thatisapiceofshit We lived in Florida for 3 years (Orlando). Only the very brave or crazy got black interiors. And 25% tint is good, but even in Alberta i got 20% tint on our LS430. That large barge has huge windows!

  • @mmcin719
    @mmcin719 3 роки тому +4

    You have to expect minor items on a car of this age, the brakes are not expensive to fix and the roof is aluminium, by the way. The interior is very durable the driveline is near bullet proof and extremely smooth and will cover very many miles. These cars are luxury cruisers . Mine is a weekender, and many times I will return from a drive, and then take it out again, just for the pleasure. I suggest you fix all the items that are not quite right, as the car deserves it and as they are rising in value you will get more than your money back.

    Recently found an 08 with just 84,000 miles, 1owner. It appears to have been dealer serviced and the only flaws so far are the run flat tires and beat up wheels which I replaced. Nice car for cruising and probably a long time keeper 😀

    Most owners I've talked to feel the run-flats compromise handling, and compromise comfort even more which contradicts its "luxury cruiser" classification. I replaced them with some nice all-weather, Michelin radials and sacrificed the 50 mile+ capacity to drive on a flat to a shop. There's a fair chance that the damaged run-flat cannot be salvaged after a 50 mile trip anyway, especially if it sustains sidewall damage. Now, in the event of a flat with no room for a spare, I have AAA, and from what other SC430 owners tell me, they seem OK with that. I would avoid driving in areas so remote that phone service could become an issue. After making the switch, there was no debate. The improvement in handling and comfort was well worth it.

    The car has not been cared for I would doubt if it's had a proper service
    To rectify the paintwork around 800 dollars I would say 1500 dollars to get it up to scratch
    The car looks good I have had about 20 BMW New including Convertable's and I prefer the style of the SC430
    The bonnet and roof are aluminium can be prone to paint issues at roof corners
    Engine should have had the timing belt and water pump replaced around 100 K make sure these have been done

      OWN 4, WANT MORE!
      I am fortunate to own 4 SC430s. Since I retired a few years ago the SC has become a passion for me. Mine are all gorgeous, always well maintained, and now pampered more than ever. They are: A -- 2002 with black--saddle colors and pie-plate hubs (which I love), 63k miles, dark walnut wood. B -- 2004 with white--ecru (ivory) colors and 5-spoke wheels, 53k miles, yellow birdseye maple wood (my favorite). C -- 2004, the coveted original Pebble Beach Edition, with azure (light blue)-ecru colors and 10-spoke Niche Essen wheels, ebony (black) wood, 97k miles. D -- 2007 with chardannay--camel colors and 5-spoke wheels, dark walnut wood, 68k miles. All purr like a kitten and roar like a lion! The plan is to drive them just enough to keep them in top condition. I think they are budding classics, and future prices are likely to generate a hefty ROI -- while having a blast along the way! (Englishmen Jeremy Clarkson and James May ... go pound sand! 😁)
