A little critique for your next test: You should clearly say to who the video is for. Who can use which microscope? I'm a scientist and using a lot of professional microscopes from Zeiss. They do their job as good as they can. I also used cheap usb microscopes for more flexible usage in the laboraty. The most important thing to ask first is what do you want? Good images? Flexibility? Anorganic or Organic samples? After you know your answer, then you can start to consider choosing a kind of a microscope.
If u want to see Bactria find a traditional microscope that has at least 1500x to zoom in to also that’s enough to see red and white blood cells even more facinating
It's hard to make a choice without knowing the magnification capacity of these microscopes? Can you let us know? Andonstar ADSM302 is sold as a coin dealers microscope so can't be very powerful. Is that right?
Hi! Great question. The answer is a bit complicated though. I don't give the magnification levels for these microscopes because it is a very misleading number and doesn't actually give you all that much info. The reason it is complicated is because there is "optical magnification" and "apparent magnification". Optical magnification can be mathematically derived from the arrangements of lenses in the microscope, whereas "apparent magnification" is subjective and depends on factors such as how large the digital screen is that you are using to view the image and what resolution you are recording at. I don't ever trust the "apparent magnification" numbers that manufacturers provide. Its also difficult because they don't always say whether or not the magnification value that they are giving is actually apparent or true optical. There are many more factors that influence the end viewing quality and experience for the user that go beyond just magnification levels as well. One day I may make a whole video that explains the nuances of choosing a microscope, or I'll at least put it in a Q&A style video. The ADSM302 has a wide range of magnification and can see down to the sweat glands on your finger or to see medium sized paramecium.

Hi there! One of the benefits of the Andonstar ADSM302 is that you can change the magnification smoothly through a significant range. From the most zoomed out you could see most, if not all of your pinky on the screen to all the way zoomed in you could see the sweat glands on your pinky. I cannot recommend the ADSM302 enough. @@micro_safari ps- have you tried the ADSM302 as a hand-held camera/scope, such as watching life in the garden? Or is it just too prone to image shaking? Thanks again.

The problem is that at that level of magnification, smartphone microscopes will exhibit too much hand shake and it is extremely difficult to keep the sample in focus.
Why did you left out Stereo Microscopes? I think that they are better than the digital ones beacause there is no input lag and of course there are also models avaiable which include a camera bus.
I just simply don't own any stereo microscopes. I plan to remake this video when I have an expanded collection and will include some stereo microscopes. I've only found input lag to be a problem on some cheap USB 2.0 or wifi digital microscopes, or if you don't have enough light on the sample the camera will drop the framerate. I've never had input lag on an HDMI or USB 3.0 digital microscope.

I tried the clip-on cell phone microscope with my Samsung A32 phone and it didn't work well. There was glare on the subject from the light. A large portion of the field of view was the body of the microscope, with a small circle in the middle that was the magnified subject. If your phone has a macro lens, this microscope is largely redundant.
Were you looking at a reflective object? And yes, higher end phones with good macro lenses can achieve the same thing. I've known this to be mostly the case with the newest iPhone, but I will add the A32 to the file. Thanks.

I love microscopes and have had one since I was a kid. It's literally another world 'down' there. These days I use them for checking my trichomes mostly. LOL
That middle one with the red button on it is the most preactical of all. You can't do that with the other two which have displays integrated in them or with the ones that attach to the mobile phone. That's something you should have mentioned, different use cases.
Cellular structures, yes. You'd be able to see certain plant cell structures with a digital microscope. Bacteria, no. They are significantly smaller and you need kohler illumination to view them since they are basically transparent.
Hello, we are working on Micro Safari 2.0 right now and are at the product testing stage. It probably wont be available for purchase for another month or two.
Can you please let me know if the Andonstar ADSM302 uses a optical zoom vs apparent zoom. And, if all andonstar digital microscopes use optical zoom. I didn't realize the difference between the two until you mentioned the difference in one of your videos. I am starting a cell repair shop and will be doing micro soldering. I have already trained my eyes on using a digital microscope vs a stereo microphone. Any info would greatly be appreciated. Ty
The magnification figures that they provide are apparent zoom. Most if not all digital microscope's final apparent zoom is calculated using a combination of their actual optical zoom and their digital sensor pixel size. If you are already used to using a digital microscope to do SMD soldering, you will not be disappointed in the ADSM302. The magnification is range is enough to see cracks in solder joints or part numbers on tiny SMDs, and goes low enough that you can easily do large soldering under it.

You might not want to wait this long, but I'm making a new video for what microscope to buy in 2022 which should release in a couple weeks, where I am going to talk much more about 'traditional' microscopes and compare more brands. You'll definitely want a transmitted light, upright, compound microscope for this.
Definitely a traditional microscope. Almost anything that lives in water and you can't see with the naked eye you'd want a traditional transmitted light microscope.
Hiya, thank you. A typical compound binocular microscope that looks like this emoji will work for that 🔬a basic amscope that looks like what I have in the video is what I recommend
I don't want a mic with a screen, not unless the screen is hi res. Far better to output to a tablet/phone or PC. That way you can take full advantage of the available data.
It depends on the specific type and size of protist. Because it is a reflected light illumination source, the especially transparent protists will not show up very clearly. I've used it to see medium sized protists before and it was fine but if I really wanted a good image of them I would need to switch to my amscope stereo compound microscope, which has a transmitted illumination source
Looking to use this for soldering and fixing surface mounted devices (SMD) PRINTED CIRCUIT BOARDS. Is this recommended microscope overkill? I need to look at printed circuit boards but not able to get down close enough to traces because component heights. Tried a Celrstron handheld microscope rated 1200X but could not get microscope & soldering iron tip into same space.
You should get a stereo microscope somewhere in the 10x - 30x range. 1200x is way overkill for doing manual manipulations under a microscope. I used to do SMD soldering as my full time job a long time ago and you should definitely use a stereo microscope that you look through rather than a digital microscope because you retain 3D vision. This is what I recommend: amscope.com/collections/stereo-microscope/products/se303r-p Also worth noting that the Celestron is talking about 1200x apparent zoom which is not the same as optical zoom. Watch my latest video for more info.

Hello! I added a custom XY motorized gantry that fits our standard Safari Slides, a custom Ikea lamp reflected light illuminator, DSLR camera adapters, and recently, a focused UV flashlight attachment.
Could you do a video on troubleshooting microscopes? Specifically compound microscopes. I'm having trouble focusing in on the 45x lens. From what I've read, if it's not just plain broken, It's because my subject isn't close enough to the lens.
Sure, I'll add that to the list. Thanks for the feedback! What search term would you have looked up to try to find the solution to your problem? So I can know what to title the video
@@micro_safari So, I tried to focus on a phone I have now but didn't have before and it feels like I'm almost focusing in on the screen, then the lens rams into the phone screen. Also, I notice my optics aren't very clean. I think the fact that there is a layer of touch input over the actual screen might be enough distance to prevent focus?
@@xnamkcor I believe that the objective you are using requires an extremely short working distance and the glass over your phone screen is preventing it from getting close enough to the LCD/OLED. Your objective might even say something like 0,17, which is referring to the working distance of 0.17mm, AKA the thickness of a standard cover slip. Try focusing on a hair or something that you sandwich underneath a cover slip on a microscope slide. If you can't focus on that there is something else going on.
You really didn't grasp that much about microscopes did you? A microscope is really about it's optics not about how digital it is. You can really connect a camera to any "traditional" microscopes and see a thousand times better than the toys you call digital "microscopes". Moreover, you can put really huge sensors on the traditional microscope and see in various ways, filtering, excitation with UV, you name it, things you can only dream of doing with the other toys. The real categories of microscopes should gravitate around the stereo and the mono concepts, and the abilities of having broad and narrow focusing depth , respectively.
Theoretically, you can do focus stacking with any microscope that you can hold the specimen affixed in the X and Y axis and where you have precise control over the Z axis. You of course also need a camera. So for example, you could do rudimentary focus stacking with the Amscope binocular upright microscope that I showed in the video just with a phone eyepiece adapter and the right software. You take many photos at small increments of Z axis height adjustment and then use a focus stacking software to stitch all the images together into a final image.
@@CapitanHarlockisback I'm sure there are but I am not familiar with any specifically. It would be a very expensive system since you need a motorized Z axis, camera connected to a imbedded PC, custom software etc.

This is what I recommend:
amscope.com/collections/stereo-microscope/products/se303r-p
Also worth noting that the Celestron is talking about 1200x apparent zoom which is not the same as optical zoom. Watch my latest video for more info.
You didnt even touch on the power of the scope on any of the devices?
Great question! I just uploaded a video that answers this exact question. See it here: ua-cam.com/video/YK59dgrrNvA/v-deo.html
Great quality video! I'm surprised; you deserve more subscribers.
Aww thank you! I just released a new video. Fingers crossed that it ranks in YT search so we can grow the community. If I can get enough subscribers I can justify investing more $$$ into the channel so I can produce way cooler & more interesting content :)
@@micro_safari Wish you luck!
What is the screen one next to your favorite one you picked up
There was another commenter that asked the same question.
"
I think it is this one:

It is not bad. Decent value for the price. Doesn't have an HDMI output though. I recommend. Picture and build quality is not as good as the $250 andonstar but someone that isn't as microscope picky as me will think it is amazing!

Can you please tell us which one of those handheld one can be uesd with haemocytometer?
Lookin for something I can use to check out microfauna and algae in my pond and aquarium. Preferably where I can put it up on a screen with full motion.
Thanks, in which ways have you modified your own microscope as per the description?
@@micro_safari microscope troubleshooting
@@micro_safari Which microscope would you recommend for looking at cells? Plant cells, animal cells blood cells all sorts of cells
I want to know what that big one is called. I might purchase it
It's a Zeiss Axio Imager :)
Thanks! Getting my kid one of those smartphone ones :)
If you not using a working stand scope or a traditional scope I’d be happy to pay for the shipping.
great review of the different scope levels! thanks!
Waterbears, theyre so hot right now
Is there any microscope sw that allows focus stacking?
Theoretically, you can do focus stacking with any microscope that you can hold the specimen affixed in the X and Y axis and where you have precise control over the Z axis. You of course also need a camera. So for example, you could do rudimentary focus stacking with the Amscope binocular upright microscope that I showed in the video just with a phone eyepiece adapter and the right software. You take many photos at small increments of Z axis height adjustment and then use a focus stacking software to stitch all the images together into a final image.
@@micro_safari Any microscope that does it automatically?
@@CapitanHarlockisback I'm sure there are but I am not familiar with any specifically. It would be a very expensive system since you need a motorized Z axis, camera connected to a imbedded PC, custom software etc.
@@CapitanHarlockisback Yes: Dino-lite
Microscope giveawaaay ❤️
Are those gooseberry bugs? OMG!!
Great info! Thanks a lot! I will get one of your safari kits for my son.
very useful information. I`m interested in one of the larger versions of the digital microscopes and ill buy one since i own the cheap 20 dollar version
Good Job by the way
I´ll buy a traditional microscope in the future since i´m also a science college student
thanks a lot, congratulation! a suggestion for digital camara microscope to see microorganism of soil? thanks
Adsm302 if you can afford it. If you just want to try it out go with the mobile microscope. If you want to look at bacteria you'll need a compound microscope with slides like this emoji🔬
@@micro_safari thanks
I just works. Don't expect any information in this video.
Can u do some micro safari videos with some of these other scopes? Like the andonstar? I want to know what to expect if I buy a micro safari.
Also when is mobile microscope link coming out? I want to buy one for a friend
Hi Friend! Thank you for the feedback! I will add your suggestion of showcasing how Micro Safari works with other microscopes in a future video.
I will get that mobile microscope link added tomorrow.
Thank you for this; well done 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻😊
Hey I subd looking for a microscope 🔬 guy !!! Get some old ketchup / and put the new moon ketchup under the microscope 🔬 let’s look for anomaly’s !!!
Awesome video and love the micro safari
One of those bugs looked lkke a baby frog man. HE was yelling let me out I think...Oh boy! I mean..Oh man!
He could ahve at least said the name of the beefy boy. How am I supposed to look for it now?
Dude, you have way to few subscribers for your video quality.
But can a digital microscope see a blood smear or a sperm?
the traditional ones are way stronger... hope there's a digital microscope with the same or higher magnification that can be connected to a big screen or laptop.
Sir am looking for a microscope that will be good for do fecal test for parasites and semen tests also for sheep. Any help would greatly appreciated sir.
how much the biggest
About $10k on ebay right now
I don't really count the digital microscopes as microscopes more of just a zoomed in camera, I mean I could get the shots show here on my phone.
Super Great Job Thank You
I would have liked at least one sentence about the one with the screen next to the $250 one… 🥲
I think it is this one:

You don't mention the magnification levels of all the options.
Correct. This is very intentional. Watch our latest video to understand why :)
@@micro_safari lol nah.
This video is basically microscopes for kids. Is there a non-traditional one that you can do larger things than a slice with? Say I want to look at a beaker of liquid or something larger is there one that will zoom like a professional similar to this?
THANK YOU!
This is basically an ad.
Good video with great content BUT: You neglected to name any of the scopes!
hahaha fair enough. Will fix that in the 2022 video! Thank you for the feedback.
8 minutes and no sample images. Okay. I will go buy them all and figure it out. Thank for your help.
Your not selling the kit no more
Which one can see Covid?
That Ziess is BEEFY!
Can i see virus with that microscope?
Nope. Viruses are waaaaay to small to be seen with a visible light optical microscope.
@@micro_safari any recomendation for a newbie like me for a microscope?
The mobile microscopes are a good entry level microscope since they are so cheap. If you enjoy it, then look into upgrading
