    I have GIVI on my KLR went down twice the work great , just scratched the crash bars, no damage to plastic, worked great, just got some sandpaper and flat black spray and they are good as new. I had SW motech to and the rust quickly, poor powder coating.

    I have the SW Motech bars mounted on my Honda NC 700 S , they fit great and are solid as heck !
    I definitely will put them on my Kawasaki Z1000 as well.
    Absolutely good product , no regrets !

    Less bends = more strength? 🤔 spent a fair bit of my life working with steel and I can say that’s rubbish.
    The more bends you add to steel the more rigid it becomes .. fact ! Not favouring one over the other but this is clearly a sales pitch 😂😂 gussets definitely add strength but so does bends

    I bought the givi crash bar. Yesterday while I was at work a neighbor called and warned me that my bike was leaned on the ground in my parking lot at home. I suspect that some kids around sat on it and dropped it. My givi crash bar is bent all the way to the panel. Either it's very cheap or it was defective? Because I'm kind of really disapointed about the quality!

    My husband laid over his bike (KLR650) doing 45mph on a logging road. His SW Motech bars did a great job. Only a busted taillight. The bars took quite a grinding but did not bend. Was right behind him. If you are going to use your duelsport as a duelsport get these bars!

    i also have the swmotech bars on my dl650, and they are very good. i also like the additional welded gussets, as the dl650 version has predrilled holes, giving an excellent oppertunity to add auxiliary lights for your bike. ive had to use them twice now, if u know what i mean, and they protected my bike and fairings with very little damage to the bars (only cosmetic)

    @magaJosh2000, I had the non-anti-vibe SW-Motech bars on my '08 KLR and they were fine. On my '11 KLR I have the anti-vibe SW-Motech bars. I can only tell a difference if I put my feet on the bar. There is less videos on the new vs the old, but I doubt I would have noticed had I not know the difference.

  • @TwistedThrottleCanada

    @longtab The reason there are no videos on the new bars is that they've just started shipping in the last 2 weeks. We'll be doing more videos on this shortly!

    I have the SW-motech bars on my Gladius. About that thick paint coat - it really is thick but even if you tip the bike over from standstill, it will scratch through to the metal, however thick it is, ask me how I know :).
    It'd be more important to have thick paint on side pannier racks, for example. My Givi side racks' paint wore through to metal in two weeks in places where passenger's boots touch it.

    Please note that the SW Motech having a thicker diameter means some brands of aftermarket fog-light clamps that fit on the Givis won't fit onto the Motech bars.

    Hello there. I have my new Z650 and there is a frame for it. But, i am not sure if police can fine me because it has to be included in my bike technical papers, and homologation by the Office of Technical Inspection of Vehicles. Called ITV in Spain.
    Anybody knows about how to proceed after instalation for road Authorities and ITV?
    Thank you

    The gusset placement of the Motech bar actually weakens the tube. Gussets on tubes should be welded on the "outside" of the bend.

  • @bruceheimbigner9587
    @bruceheimbigner9587 Рік тому +1

    I know this is an old video and generic. But a clear distinction on the norden 901 at least, a new bike, the motech connects to the engine in 2 of 3 connection points, whereas the Givi connects to the frame that's a significant benefit. Additionally, the new bars are also 1 inch, thickness is .095 for the givi vs .098 so no significant difference. BTW a bended tube is stronger than a straight tube if the tube was bent correctly. Also the Motech uses a smaller diameter tube in cross braces and on members that connect to the bike, Givi uses the same size everywhere. Only downside is it comes from Italy, and I have a policy to buy nothing from there with moving parts - but this has none so I'm ok.

    givis took hella beating all over OR ID WY MT and went down a lot (6x+) in mud snow gravel and just off camber turn arounds etc only a tiny scratch from day one lol in some deep gravel, 100% protected the bike and maintained their form, no dents/nada. a hand guard got scratched but that was easy to replace the storm barkbuster and bike is back to new looking and it was run hard. be sure to get skid plate guard for dl650, even before the crash bars if you have to wait on cash flow. boxes help too, side boxes keep the bike off the ground. givi trekkers also helped keep it unscratched from Hell('s Canyon) and back (to PA). Cheers

      if only i could find some good foot peg set ups for them, i used a fixed bar clamped on but that kinda didn't cling on very well, clamps bent over time/crashes, and it's fitment was meh

    I'm pissed off.I bought sw-motech crash bars.I haven't got them on the bike yet.Now they have came out with anti-vibration reversion w/rubber bushing in mounting holes.Do you think I could bore those holes out and install the hardware bushings in the holes before mounting,if I can get my hands on some of rubber bushings?

  • @AusExplorer
    @AusExplorer 10 років тому

    I'm disappointed in my SW Motec bars on my Xl600VH transalp, they don't really clear the fairing [rub marks] and in a fairly minor off-road spill [just slipped over in some gravel] they mountings have bent and the really long bolt that replaces the engine mount bolt [no idea why they made it really long with spacers] has been bent and stretched, which means I need to make repairs to the bars mounting system before I can refit them and because the mountings bent the fairings were damaged anyway.
    Now sure there may have been more damage on the fairing with no bars but the point of buying them was to give protection in the minor/low speed falls.
    Just disappointing.

    Eric, sounds like you guys have too many sets of SW-Motech bars in stock and not enough Givi :) If you're going to do an actual comparo, then let's see some actual data - controlled crashes! Then we can see which bars actually win. Anecdotal claims and bullshit opinion about features isn't all that convincing dude. SW-Motech's designs are too fugly :(

    All sw motech products are very bad finished. I have had use their accessories on various bikes and all of them always was the very first thing on the bike thats got rust on it due to very poor powder coating or painting. My friend 2 months ago has spent £49 on sat nav mount. Today the paint on the mount is flaking and missing in many locations and exposed metal is covered in rust. I have givi pannier rack on one of my bikes for last 7 years and they just look like a new.

    For all this, sw motech bars do fold in when the bike falls over in the driveway This allows damage to the bike. So maybe more cosmetic than functional

    Not a great fan of crash bars,especially when they bolt to the engine.The bars that are stronger transfer more impact force to the vulnerable parts or your bike,I would much prefer weaker bars,when they bend,they do at least absorb some of the impact of a drop.50 years of riding tells me,I'll stay with crash sliders.

    • @robbryan3044
      @robbryan3044 6 років тому +3

      Brian smith You're ignoring the fact that NOT all crash bars bolt to the engine. The bars providing the least protection, such as basic "engine guard" protection, might bolt to the engine, but true "crash bars" bolt ENTIRELY to the frame...although, that being said, some of those frame mounting points might also bolt into the engine, but ONLY after the bolt threads through the frame. Case in point, the GIVI Engine Guard bars on my Yamaha FJ-09 - each side has 3 mounting points, with 2 being frame ONLY, and the third being frame followed by engine. Chances are incredibly high that there would be NO damage to the engine. On the off-chance that the impact is bad enough to cause engine damage, the engine WILL be the LEAST of your worries. Put another way, if the impact is enough to cause engine damage, you'll be lucky to still be alive.
