Elin, as someone who is currently rebuilding a transmission, I don’t think that you could show it too many times. I’ve watched all your transmission videos several times each and always catch something new that pertains to me. So it may seem repetitive to some, but when you are trying to follow along at home, you can never see it too much! Thanks for all you do!!!
Here’s the thing about Elin Yakov: his is the best content on UA-cam. Most other’s content we swim around in is “look at me…look at me…look at me!!!” Elin’s content teaches you. You become smarter. It’s clear and most importantly you come away with knowledge you can actually use. Good job my friend. Reed Williams.
Hi Elin, I wish you and your whole family a merry Christmas and a happy and healthy New Year. Your videos are always very educational for me. I don't have a Triumph but I do have a rusty beauty that belongs to me. A lot of what you show can be applied there too.
Been there 2 weeks ago and luckily I bought a few gearboxes on ebay years ago. That saved my day...... Well now you have the time to get a NOS gear with all the teeth and maybe another housing. Best of luck and happy holidays. Cheers!
As the others have said its important to see the challenges, that’s what we face working on these beauties..... nothing is according to Hoyle. Merry Christmas
This made me remember my first attempt to rebuild the MGA transmission when I was just 19. I didn't realize that the synchro rings were worn out and finally gave it to a specialist. He was very friendly and explained the details to me so when it came time to rebuild the XK120 and Corvette boxes I was prepared. I certainly would have been better prepared if I had seen your videos, but I don't think you had been born yet at that time! 🙂 Merry Christmas to you and your clan!
Elin, Merry Christmas for you and your family from The Netherlands. Again a very interesting video, showing things do not always go as planned. I have every confidence you will be able to solve the issue.
Have you looked at the bearing surface inside the lay gear? I’ve just stripped five GT6/Vitesse boxes looking for a good input shaft and lay gear and all but one of the lay gears were unusable cause that surface was starting to break up… Even when the shaft itself looked good. I think you could probably get away with using the later big synchro gear, after all the outer diameters of the synchro rings are all the same. I would’ve offered you a small synchro one, but I think it was second gear? The only spare seconds I have have pretty worn dog teeth.
Glad the see I am not the only one who has that one car sitting in the shop gathering dust and parts. It sits while I continue working on another , then another car... PS. if the audience does not have a air grinder. Use a good flat file and inspect with magnifying glass carefully. Trans Lube is also same product as your GOO. Except its red.
Great video Elin. You are without doubt the master of these transmissions. Have a great Xmas. PS, the weather is crazy, it is Xmas Eve in the north of England and 11 degrees C today.
That was very informative. I'll never rebuild one of these, but the actions of syncro's and all the clearances that have to be correct to get it all to work become very understandable. Thank you. sorry the gear box housing might need to be replaced.....
Very nice work. If you want to get fancy take a look at a Motorcycle Bearing Puller kit or a Blind Hole Bearing Puller & Bearing Separator Set with Slide Hammer Collets. That would get that roller bearing out nicely.
Merry Christmas! The devil is in the details, and you always seem to figure out a solution that works! Can't wait to see Anna on the road. Been waiting a Loooong time. She will be special though.
Merry Christmas Elin! As always, your videos are interesting and entertaining. My recent GT6 purchase wines in second gear. All other gears are silent. Transmission was recently refurbished and hopefully the gear is seating??
Yay! More progress on the GT6. But a question. If you felt my presents, what am I getting this year? 😂 Merry Christmas Elin. Thanks for all your efforts. 🎄❄️
Pretend I didn't see that! Starting to sound like Derek! You know full well that you won't be able to live with the knowledge of that missing tooth! As the saying goes, "do it right, do it once". Merry Christmas, Elin and family.
Couldn't you swap the other gear that doesn't have a missing tooth along with matching lighter duty syncro? Just a thought. Love your videos! I'm in the middle of a rotisserie restoration on my tr6.
Did not press and re press new bushings>? That, in my long trany rebuilding career is called re assembly with out new hard parts and bushings. Its Not rebuilding. You are correct in saying Part 94 is Assembling. But , for your audience. Not to use the word "Rebuilt" transmission as too many do when describing their finished car. Other words we use. Take Out. That's is a trans from another vehicle. and Re Conditioned. Thats a trans that was cleaned, painted and has new front, rear oil seals and fluid. I say this so that if you are buying a so called " Rebuilt" trans. You ask these hard questions of the seller. Hopefully you don't buy something its not. and pay more then its worth. Photos and documentation paperwork, receipts of parts should be provided. Merry Christmas!

I really love your programs when you’re working on your GT six GT sixes or with your son on his Miata!!

Never allow your thrust washer become a crush washer.
Merry Christmas Elin! As always, your videos are interesting and entertaining. My recent GT6 purchase wines in second gear. All other gears are silent. Transmission was recently refurbished and hopefully the gear is seating??
Elin, aren’t the 3 Springs between that laygear thrustwasher and the bellhousing supposed to adjust for some play?
merry christmas
It seems one basic problem lead to a lot of gradual wear and damage to other p arts… it will be great to salvage a working gearbox !
Yay! More progress on the GT6.
But a question. If you felt my presents, what am I getting this year? 😂

Oh dear…..! 😊
Has anyone fitted a turbo ( or supercharger) to one of these 2.5 engines?
Yes, lots of superchargers on the 2.5L and a few turbos…the GT6 is a 2L though ( same block though as the TR6)
224th 😉 Sorry, I was making cabbage rolls all day. Merry Christmas!
👍👍👍😎😎😎
