FYI, the best coating I’ve ever used on exhaust manifold is dry graphite spray. It doesn’t burn off and keeps it from rusting. Not on topic, but I thought I’d pass along. This was a great series. James
Elin! You a far from 'Stupid' keep doing your usual excellant job, and thanks for sharing all of the ups and downs of restoration of another 'Rusty Beauty'
Elin, I just watched a YT video last week where a rebuild shop owner was complaining about the size variation of freeze plugs he uses when rebuilding engines. He measured a number of plugs and the diameters were all over the place.
With new valves and valve seats I would expect the valves to actually bed-in over the first few miles, so maybe the valve clearances would become a thou or two tighter?
Elin I always thought that most core plugs are a concave disc that fits snugly into a register and then you have to punch the centre of the core plug to get it to flatten and spread into the register to seal itself. These are different?
I like that you don't try to cover up things that go wrong. Much more realistic than otherwise.

I'm glad the word you were looking for was "unfounded". Almost lost my breakfast watching this one.
