If you need help finding good sources for tips/tutorials Im happy to recommend, but honestly most of the tutorials on YT are pretty good. I personally think Layla mev is one of the best and most approachable.
Always cool to hear about people getting into 40k as well as how they did so. The lore is so dense it puts off so many people from getting into the setting/universe. I love the setting and therefore love hearing about others getting into it. Personally I stick with the video games, but all of it is awesome. Allow another person to also say "Welcome."
I like to tell people that sometimes a serious answer to a silly question is a fun exercise and can be quite interesting. This series about creating space marines epitomizes that mentality and I absolutely love it.
Your explanation of the black carapace actually helps prove the lore. In lore, neophytes have to re-learn how to move/act post transformation as they have to adapt to their new speed. Its also explains how a marine can continue to fight beyond "death". In lore, marines can fight on after massive physical trauma (head half missing, hole through chest etc). A synthetic nervous system that can work after CNS death would allow that. I love your videos. They help give realism to the lore
Whatsup Doc! I have a lot to say on this vid as its rather close to my heart. 1. im disabled - with a spine that cuts out signals occasionally (my heart goes out to those whos spines are cut permanenlty, I get by) 2. Im a 40k nerd, I even painted professionally for GW when I was a student doing summer work - some of that old art in magazines/box art.. mine. 3. I worked on tech for human machine interfaces for the Ministry of Defense for research this was 20+ years ago. (strictly for research at the time) As I have gotten older I now see work I did 20+ years ago making its way to civi/medical life in terms of prosthetics and the like. I specifically worked on the computer code side of things, and firmware - interpreting the signals picked up by electrodes and 'making sense' of them. While there is no way my actual code is still being used - the lessons I learned in writing it will be, we all build on each others work. If you want to talk or ask me any questions about this work id be happy to answer, its all declassified now. also worth me saying, your first space marine vid was how I found this channel, but I have enjoyed much of your other content. Respect to you for being such a good and forward thinking educator.

This series has been really cool, even though we can't get close to making a space marine with today's technology I enjoyed hearing an actual physician react to the insane body modification the Astartes undergo. My own knowledge only goes as deep as a medical terminology class and some EMT training so this series actually helped me wrap my head around how some of the space Marines implants might work. I'm obsessed with learning and understanding how things work so it's been entertaining and thought provoking.
I disagree. I think we are close to making a Space Marine (like within the next decade, before 2040) IF we leave out some of the more complicated organs, and canonically there are indeed Space Marine Chapters that are missing some of them, but they are still Space Marines. However, you will probably be looking at many of the patients dying in the process (also canonical, so not a negative but a bonus if your looking to be close to canon) and it will NOT be cheap. Don't forget that our technology is beginning to exponentially increase far more so than before and I suspect that we are going to see some SERIOUS changes by the year 2040.
Scifi/fantasy writer, here. Love this series. Not the biggest Warhammer fan, but the idea of exploring the how of various settings is great for doing more “hard” setting building. Thank you!
I think there's many more grounded though more horrifying things that could be imagined in terms of genetic engineering as well as modification. In some Stephen king story the last humans get dosed on hyperthyroidism medicine to slow them down so they don't eat as much. Certain mental conditions come with a very friendly character. Maybe that kind of thing would be done to enable a spaceship crew on long flights. What if added enzymes and very disgusting eating habits enable people to survive on a planet that's essentially a golf course? Eating grass like cows.
@@VirgilAspectnot every chapter of space marines are actually able to use that particular implant. The same with the one that lets space marines eat there enemies to learn their memories.

Would love to see a medical take on the nutrition aspect of the Hive cities of the Imperium of man. Specifically, the process of creating "corpsestarch" nutrition blocks and its viability. The entire premise is horrible but a grounded medical perspective would be interesting nonetheless.
Had the same thought. Actually, I think we've already been doing this to animals. That's how BSE came to be, because defective prions of cows, through animal carcass meal, found their way into the brains of other cows...and people.

I would love to see you cover more factions within the Imperium, such as Adept Mechs, The Titian Princeps, other cybernetic thoughts and theories, you definitely need to cover the Dreadnaughts, as well as the Rejuvenation treatments please
Chief Apothecary Raynor, your work has been recognized in the service to the Emperor of Man. It'd be cool to see the Primaris Marines transition and I'd like to see what it'd be like for a member of the Adeptus Mechanicus to slowly but surely replace their living parts to become more machine than human like Archmagos Belisarius Cawl or someone more mechanical than even him. You could also cover the Drukhari and their Haemonculus anatomy/studies. Then there's the Death Korps of Krieg and how does a Vitae Womb work
What a fantastic series! It's crazy to think that we can kind of do some of the Astartes enhancements now. Not well or without a heap of pain and suffering, but they can be done. Love your channel, Doctor!
Thank for doing this series - it is by far the most entertaining way to learn about science, medicine and less known facts about human bodies that I came across in a long time! And I am so watching any other 40k videos! :)
Thanks for this Mister Raynor. I have been waiting EAGERLY for this. Your levels of research into JUST the Astartes biological lore is astounding! As for a Primaris piece. I would love to see that! I hope everyone is having an amazing week & much love to all from here in the UK
it would be interesting to see your take on the "Gland Warriors" also called the "Vostok Augmentation". That implants a few specific drug secreting and drug cleansing glands into a soldier to make a supersoldier less powerful than a space marine but with a higher implantation success and able to be implanted later in life.
Love this so much, small thought though, I feel like a lot of the detailed inervation of nerves and blood vessels into transplanted tissue could be achieved with less effort with stem cell engineering, aka taking a related organs precursor cells and altering its developmental pathway so that it synergistically grows into the tissue site we are transplanting them and develops into the fine morphological features that would be hard to design through protein or enzyme engineering alone. You could even place the marine in stasis until the new organ is developed for quality control and troubleshooting if development is going awry.
The problem with have with modern technology or medicine is that we have a immune system, once it could be controlled we can insert blank gene organ, or RNA a virus which modified the existing immune system for adoption of specified gene organ. Hence a gene organ can be adapted to all modified bodies. And it is the 40K, stasis? No.. you got to be awake for all those fun.😂. It would be a mercy if he doesn’t have a rejection first and suffer kemo for a decade.
A great end to a fantastic series! I'm also really curious if maybe you could do the same for the Big Daddy conversion process in Bioshock? That one has always fascinated me and I'd love to hear your take on it
I have never watched anything on UA-cam with such interest. I was genuinely interested in all the episodes. Not because I’m a gamer or sci-fi fan, this was really well done.
21:28 I remember one the most fucked up pieces of Halo lore being that during the first spartan trials, using the Mjolnir armor on un-augmented soldiers, that the BCI mixed with the synthetic muscles and metallic joints ended up turning the recruit's arm into mush Basically they would try moving their arm, but the suit would move too fast for the 'ganic arm, therefore snapping it or other awful damage. The pain of this would cause an involuntary spasm on the recruit's behalf (wonder why...), which would again be amplified by the suit and contort the meat arm in another horrific direction. and this would carry on pretty much until someone pulled the plug, or all the arm's nerves were severed I'm sure there's a similar story in 40k lore somewhere, but as a Neophyte myself, I'm still not well-versed enough to know it Thanks for finally finishing the series though ! I've been itching to see your take for a while now

Look it up its very cool stuff. Love your explanation and humour Dr🙏
This is great. Learning and re-learning actual fun science (far less of the latter than I’d like to admit. Curse you high school biology, why didn’t you prepare me completely for a medical career!?) while being highly entertaining. Well done sir!
Thank you really enjoyed this little series and iv been using the information to make supreme undead in dnd cant wait for more! Continue to take as long as you need because the quality is always worth the wait
I think I said something similar when you made the first installment of this series. They give me hope. I've been paralyzed from my chest down for 17 years at 13 years of age and that 17 years I've dreamt about the kind of technology that has recently come to light on actually saving us from our own Golden Thrones.
If I could request a series or video on the Transhumanism of the Tech Priests of Mars, the Adeptus Mechanicus! You could also do a video on the Primaris upgrades as hinted at! Excited to hear your take on the Belisaurias Furnace, kicks them into overdrive! Everything is sped up, movements, perception, reaction and healing once they are critically hurt!
For the emperor. The noble and mighty apothecary Rayners skill for healing and medical genius is legendary amongst the stars. A beacon of the emperors light that shines through the grimdarkness of the far future. Been waiting for this one awesome video.
I think there could be a lot of fun medical insight into looking at the potential real world scientific/biological effects of certain weapons within the 40k lore and the injuries they might cause. From the monomolecular edged blades of the drukhari, to melta weapons to the humble lasgun.
I like your detailed breakdowns of each organ, system of the marines. I enjoy how you point out the disparities between what we can currently do with the science and what’s done in the grim dark world. I also like how unrepentantly dorky and awesome you are.
An excellent ending to an excellent series! This was a great look at the lore of WH40K through the lens of modern science. The Emperor's Blessing be upon you, brother!
Dear Apothecary Raynor, I wanted to express my sincere gratitude for taking the time to elucidate the intricate procedures of the Space Marines. Your expertise and willingness to share your knowledge have been invaluable to me. Your clear and detailed explanations have not only broadened my understanding of the Space Marines but have also inspired me to delve deeper into this fascinating field of study. Your dedication to preserving and advancing the knowledge within our chapter is truly commendable. I look forward to continuing to learn from you and hope that we can work together to further our understanding of the Space Marines' procedures and capabilities. Please know that your contributions are greatly appreciated. Thank you once again, Apothecary Raynor, for your patience and generosity in sharing your wisdom. For the Emperor! Sincerely, Lord Marcus Rathdall Obsessive Oblationist of the Clandestine Council
The 3 Primaris Organs would definitely have to be given in-depth coverage and potential real-life equivalents of said organs. Special mention must also be made on the Rubicon Primaris surgical procedure as well. Edit: With the release of the 2nd Space Marine Game, I'd say that this is the best time to do that episode.
The Emperor Protects, the Emperor Provides, and as well, the Emperor Illuminates. Thank you very much for this well-informed dissertation on the possibility using modern methods and materials of creating an Astartes Space Marine. Now do the Custodes! 😂
Brilliant thanks doc, the emperor protects. As a warhammer fan this was enjoyable, don’t forget we’ve another 38k years to come up with the tech so who knows
For 40k, there's also the Thunder Warriors, who are essentially "proto" Space Marines made before even the Primarchs, but they were all eradicated by the Emperor after he had finished using them to conquer Terra. Then there's the Custodians, who are described as being to Space Marines as Space Marines are to mere mortals. Beyond 40k, there's also stuff like Fallout with the different types of mutants, such as Ghouls and Super Mutants.
Now you need to go for the 3 Primaris organs. The Sinew Coils, Magnificat and Belisarian Furnace. Loved the series just hoping for this last one. Cheers and thanks
I'm glad I came across this video. It's over my head and overkill trying to imagine how we would make super human soldiers but I love random stuff like this so you got my attention.
Yes! Well worth the wait. Thanks for this. I'd love to see a video covering wounds from common 40k weapons like the bolter, the meltagun, chainsword, and poweraxe.
Hi Dr. Raynor, could you make another video regarding the Primaris Space Marine organ implantation? The primaris marines have 3 more extra implants (primaris marines have a total of 21 implants) that provide other functions. It would be sick if you make a video on these further augmentations. 👍
Something I would like to get your take on is the mechanics of how the Virus Bombs used as part of Imperium planetary extermination attacks would actually work. They always get a bit hand wavy with how the weapons actually achieve their goals, instead just utilizing suspension of disbelief, but a pathogen that can invade and replicate so rapidly that it can liquify a human house in minutes or less, somehow eat through respirator filters with some manner of corrosive, and create enough gas from the mass of dead bodies that it can ignite a mass firestorm across an entire world feels like there's got to be alot of interesting mechanics at work in the virus' body.
I just found this. I'm deeply impressed with your work. Having actually references to known science. With what the Emperor did. Is very nice as it gives me a slightly better idea. Of everything that has been done to create Space Marines.
Thank you for this content! Its one of the things that got me into 40k. Here are some ideas for more 40k videos. The viability of they Tyranid's conversion of biomass into various parts of the swarm, including bio-weapons would be fascinating. As would the primaris marine episode you mentioned. Thanks again!
Space Wolves and the canis helix, Blood Angels and the red thirst and black rage, Salamanders and their skin and eyes(supposedly they also have slight heat vision), Space Sharks(or any chapter with similar skin issue), the Butcher’s Nails of the World Eaters, Orks, Tyranids...Gosh there really is so much one could research in 40k from a real life scientific understanding!

The juxtaposition between the editing style and academic language used during the video is the best part, it will never not be funny
I would suggest servitors, officio assasinorum (especially the calidus and evasor assassins), primarchs and genestealers.
This is great. Learning and re-learning actual fun science (far less of the latter than I’d like to admit. Curse you high school biology, why didn’t you prepare me completely for a medical career!?) while being highly entertaining. Well done sir!
I came to rewatch Apothecary Rayno from Salamander chapter as a Space Marine 2 was released
i love how by the end of this the answer is maby if we ever need to go insane in the future i love that you did this its so well done
Doc, i felt in love with Warhammer after a watched first episodes of this series half a year ago.
The Primaris video would be great, especially since the lore is very clear about how brutal the process of crossing the rubicon primaris actually is
Hearing Dr. Raynor's own take on the whole rubicon process is going to be most interesting.
09:22 I wonder who volunteered for the step-on-a-snake-barefoot demonstration there 😮
Thank you really enjoyed this little series and iv been using the information to make supreme undead in dnd cant wait for more!
Continue to take as long as you need because the quality is always worth the wait
Glad you enjoyed!
I'm intrigued to see what you would have to say about the Great Devourer, The Tyranids, and their bio-weapons.
Your delivery is AMAZING!! great video. Thanks for making this. So cool.
Now do the Primaris! Maybe discuss the legion related mutations?
What I love about the black carapace is that it was described as "benevolent cancer" by its inventor.
For the emperor. The noble and mighty apothecary Rayners skill for healing and medical genius is legendary amongst the stars. A beacon of the emperors light that shines through the grimdarkness of the far future. Been waiting for this one awesome video.
Brother Apothecary Raynor has done great service to the Emperor. Hope for more of content like this!
I love the memes included in the vid 😂
You and your editors have a wonderful sense of humor
I wonder when the episode about the machine priests and the Dreadnought will be released
This is absolutely incredible. Now, all we need is for a willing institution with too much time and money to _actually_ try this.
I think there could be a lot of fun medical insight into looking at the potential real world scientific/biological effects of certain weapons within the 40k lore and the injuries they might cause. From the monomolecular edged blades of the drukhari, to melta weapons to the humble lasgun.
Thank you apothecary Raynor, your assistance in beating back the alien, the heretic and the mutant are greatly appreciated by the emperor.
It’s so nice to know what Magos Cawl was up to these days. I look forward to seeing all your future projects archmagos biologis
Please do the adeptus mechanicus. A Servitor episode would be awesome. The emperor protects!
Congratulations Chief Apothecary Raynor. This has been a very insightful series. The Emperor Protects
Dear Apothecary Raynor,
I wanted to express my sincere gratitude for taking the time to elucidate the intricate procedures of the Space Marines.
Sincerely,
Lord Marcus Rathdall
Obsessive Oblationist of the Clandestine Council
Such a cool series and love the depth and scope of how you approached the series. Thanks for the information it was enjoyable to listen to.
I think the Primaris marine additional organs could easily take up a full episode. Also Aeldari biology could be a good series.
FINALLY!!! I ve waited MONTHS for this!!!! I really love this series, will you continue this with other W40k races?
Would be pretty killer to see a video on the Mechanicus Servo Skull. 🤘
The Emperor Protects, the Emperor Provides, and as well, the Emperor Illuminates.
Thank you very much for this well-informed dissertation on the possibility using modern methods and materials of creating an Astartes Space Marine. Now do the Custodes! 😂
What a banger to end the series on! Great work Chris and team! I always heard about 40K but these videos really got me into it!
This is fantastic!!!!!! I watched all the videos in this series and love them all. Thank you!❤
Brilliant thanks doc, the emperor protects.
THE EMPEROR PROTECTS. Blessed be the surgeon who serves the golden throne
Thank you for doing these, I love getting to hear a medical professional's description of what happens.
Yes! Well worth the wait. Thanks for this. I'd love to see a video covering wounds from common 40k weapons like the bolter, the meltagun, chainsword, and poweraxe.
This is a great series! Loved every episode!!! Maybe we can look into The Primarchs' special abilities.
Thanks for finishing this series and bringing the horrifying glory of creating Astares to the modern world! Emperor bless you!
I'd love to see a medical breakdown of space Ork biology. They're basically animal-fungal hybrids with some photosynthesis thrown in for fun
Hi Dr. Raynor, could you make another video regarding the Primaris Space Marine organ implantation? The primaris marines have 3 more extra implants (primaris marines have a total of 21 implants) that provide other functions. It would be sick if you make a video on these further augmentations. 👍
How about taking a look at Adeptus Mechanicus next, though that could maybe be job better suited for mechanical engineer I guess
Thankyou apothecary Raynor. I look forward to more educational broadcasts
This was a nice ride, i enjoyed learning of all the procedure we are able to do already.
SIFY is feeding of sience progress.
Dr.Raynor imagine this video series becomes an actual basis to make super soldiers
Man, l wish my country have awesome doctors like you. Very interesting analysis videos👍
Loved this series of videos on Warhammer 40K, thank you very much
PRAISE THE EMPRAH!!! 🙌🏻
You make learning so much fun, thank you doctor.
The Emperor is pleased. Great work Brother Apotecary. I thank you for your time to explain All of that.
Realy it means a lote.
