- We visited Beningbrough Hall Gardens on a hot sunny day in July this year. As it has been a few years since our last visit I had read they had added a new part to their gardens called a Pergola Garden with seating areas and climbing plants that when mature should offer some pleasant shade on a sunny day. Not much shade from the hot sun that day but it was nice to enjoy the fresh air and the perfume from the Philadelphus shrubs in the Double Border Garden. On my previous visits, what was the Italian Garden had been changed and all the borders were planted out with wildflowers. I am not sure if it was decided to do that due to the problems the pandemic has caused as many gardens have experienced a difficult time with many closed to visitors at some time over the last 18 months. Thank you Richard. This National Trust property is very near us so when I read about their new garden they had just finished we went to see what it was like. It is a nice addition to give shade on a hot day. When the climbing plants and roses cover the overhead trellis it should do a good job. Have a happy weekend. Warm greetings, Julie😊🍂

I wish I could have bottle it and taken it home with me Annie😃 The perfume drifted all over the Double Border. We planted a Philadelphus shrub in our back garden in spring but I got one that didn't grow too tall and has yellow/green foliage. Now I have to wait to see if it flowers next year but the label did say the blossom is perfumed. I do not think it will be a strong as the one at Beningbrough but might still be nice. I am pleased you enjoyed the walk around these gardens Carmen but it was very hot that day. We had not been to these gardens for 4-5 years even though they are very close to us but I read that they had a new Pergola Garden so wanted to see it. It was great to get out to visit Beningbrough which is not far from us so nice for an afternoon out. I didn't realise it had been 4 years since we last went there. We managed a week in South Cumbria in September and we visited quite a few places we had not seen for 5 years! Thank you Ela. It was nice to get out to visit gardens again. I read about their new Pergola Garden at Beningbrough in our local paper so, as it is only a short ride away I wanted to see how it had turned out. It will look lovely when the climber and roses give some shade as planned. We had a few days in South Lakes of Cumbria in September but we noticed that many gardens had not been looked after as well as before the pandemic. I am sure they will all get back to normal by next year. I dare say you will be in the garden with autumn upon us like us just now. We are taking some bedding plants up as they die and cutting perennials as they down for winter. Still, if the weather is kind, we may still have some colour in the garden for a few weeks. @@chaldon2viewJ84M Yes Julie .... we came back from the garden an hour ago. There is no shortage of work in the fall. Like you, we dig out plants that will not winter in the ground - they will rest in the basement. I also collect walnuts - a lot of them fall from the tree, but there are also many leaves and you have to rake every day - good gymnastics :)
In the garden I also have a lot of blooming flowers and it is colorful.

Thank you Helena, Beningbrough Hall is one of the nearest NT places to visit but it is a few years since I last went there. I was surprised the large Teapot that has always stood near the café as we enter had gone!... It was very nice so I can't imagine why it wasn't there. Even the farm shop on the way out was also closed but I did find that the farm had changed hands and they didn't want to run it. I am pleased you liked the music as it is supposed to be Royalty Free but even so I have been told by YT that it has a copyright strike on it!!! Thankfully they say I can still use it but might have ads on it .... well, I am always getting ads. of many of my videos and I do not know why. After what I read re Face book and Instagram both of which are heavily used in phones "some protection "Like giving a key to your house ..We think alike xx My message said if I didn't do this I would not be allowed into creator studio lol I wrote but got no answer ...Have a good week 🌻👋
@@HelenaMikas Hi Helena. I do remember a message like that a few days ago and I found it very odd. I do not want any of my personal and private information on the web. I only remember giving the minimum to Google and UA-cam back in 2011 when I joined. The only thing UA-cam asked for was a mobile number if, for some reason, I could not access my channel. When I got that odd email last week, I went to my details on Google and checked what was on my “Privacy and Security” and then “ "Security" on the right of that page. Like you. I do not want to give any more info than I have to. I have done nothing other than check what my settings are and left them alone. Perhaps others are as puzzled as us. Have a pleasant evening. Thank you Tine. It was a wonderful day, even if very hot that day but as Beningbrough is not far from us we decided to visit and see what their new Pergola Garden was like. I think it will be better next year when the climbing plants and roses will give the shelter it has been designed to give. It must be 5 years since I last went there and then, where the wildflowers were it used to be called the Italian Garden. I am not sure if the wildflower meadow was just grown this year due the problems the pandemic caused but I did like the Italian Garden very much so I will have to see what they decide another year. I would love to go and see the bulbs around the Ha Ha next spring but it would depend on the weather etc. Hope you are keeping well at this difficult time Tine. Thinking of you. Thank you Linnea. It was lovely to get out and see some gardens again. It has been 4-5 year since we last went to Beningbrough, even though it is very close to us. I read about their new Pergola Garden in our local paper so we decided to see what it was like. It is all very new and the idea is to give the seating areas some shade. It was very hot that day so no shade that day🌞 but should look lovely when the climbers and roses cover grow bigger and should be better by next summer. Have a good week. Warm greetings, Julie.

Many thanks FF. They have done well to look after these gardens with having to close for quite a while last year. I thought the borders of wildflowers in what was once called "The Italian" garden looked OK but I think I liked it better as it was back in our previous visits. The Pergola Garden will look great when it matures and we will go back sometime to see it. With us going for a week to the south Lakes last month, I have some garden visits to edit so they will keep me busy when our garden is put to sleep for winter😢 It is still looking nice and colourful but with our weather it will look awful as soon as we get a night frost. Thank you for visiting my channel Huggie. Beningbrough is quite close so it was great to get an afternoon there as I didn't realise it had been almost 5 years since I last went there. I read about the new garden so wanted to see that but the surprise was the Italian Garden that was there on my last visit now had all the borders filled with wildflowers🤷♀️🤔 Very nice but I liked it as it was.
