Kami-Basami is safe when done correctly. People are doing it wrong and that is what is causing the injuries. They are scissoring the legs. They are supposed to be putting their front leg much higher, on the hips to push back. When scissor is narrow is when injuries happen. It is a high level technique that can be done safely with people who know what they are doing but for low levels and competition, it should be banned. At least the narrow version of it. Wide open legs version is actually safe.
@@kingartifex There is NO RISK when done properly. If you couldn't enter it correctly you stop forcing it, just like when you stop forcing when someone taps. Otherwise, why risk it by doing grappling to begin with? Just to be flashy? There are sooo many other safer activities available. Kami-Basami is excellent counter when someone catches your kick or goes for a single. It is right there. You better learn it.
I don't know how dangerous this is, but another one I felt was skull crush with thighs. There was this guy who kept trying to triangle me from bottom guard, I defended it 2 or 3 times, and then he went "fuck it" and decided to squeeze my skull in between the thighs like black widow, couldn't even move my arms because they were immobilized. I literally heard small crackling from my skull, luckily the bell rang. Sometimes I wonder if its possible to actually crush the skull with your thighs because of this. Anyway the guy is a dirty fighter, willing to sell his mom if that would get him to win a roll. It really feels like he is willing to kill people just to win
The main reason why Judo banning Kani Basami or Scissor is right there. One move and you end a man whole carreer. BJJ stil dont learn how to avoid injuries even in tournaments. IBJJF banned this moves too. What tournaments are you joining? Scissors and Body Slam (Daki Age) are serious injuries and should be avoided at all times.
Oh man!!! As a martial artist myself you are SOOOO right with that scissor take down!! Those are THE worst!!!
Thanks for watching. Glad you agree. 10 + months off the mat with an ACL is the standard protocol so it's scary.

Agree. I don't compete but this happened while training in open mat at a gym.
Same story, but with no good ending ua-cam.com/video/IYGeZvrnVw8/v-deo.html
@fromdarkside13 sorry that sucks. Nice video documentation though. How has the recovery been so far?
