- "Goodbye to Love" is a song composed by Richard Carpenter and John Bettis. It was released by the Carpenters in 1972. On the Close to You: Remembering The Carpenters documentary, Tony Peluso stated that this was one of the first power ballads, if not the first, to have a fuzz guitar solo. "Goodbye to Love" was the first Carpenters hit written by Richard Carpenter and John Bettis.
Backing Track and Tabs are available courtesy of Phil McGarrick (www.philmcgarrick.co.uk)
I didn't include the end solo on this as i always felt the distorted guitar took away from the beautiful melody and so i have put in the middle solo and left the rest sorry just my opinion ! ;-)

I'll say goodbye to love
No one ever cared if I should live or die
Time and time again the chance for love has passed me by
And all I know of love
Is how to live without it
I just can't seem to find it
So I've made my mind up
I must live my life alone
And though it's not the easy way
I guess I've always known
I'd say goodbye to love
There are no tomorrows for this heart of mine
Surely time will lose these bitter memories
And I'll find that there is someone to believe in
And to live for something I could live for
All the years of useless search
Have finally reached an end
Loneliness and empty days will be my only friend
From this day love is forgotten
I'll go on as best I can
What lies in the future
Is a mystery to us all
No one can predict the wheel of fortune as it falls
There may come a time when I will see tha I've been wrong
But for now this is my song
And it's goodbye to love
I'll say goodbye to love - Розваги
A very good instrumental version of a classic old Carpenters song Steve
My favorite female vocalist/percussionist. We certainly miss her. Thanks Steve!

@@SteveReynoldsGuitarist Agreed, her voice was so pure and pitch perfect.
Thks for this. Sorry I missed the live performance. Still makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up every time I hear that solo guitar part .lol .. but don't fear The Reaper by Blue Oyster Cult is another one that has that effect ! Thks again
Thanks Brian it is a beautiful song!

Ric
Thanks very much Ric i did like using the les paul for a bit of change
What a lovely tone Steve! Put that together with a class 1 melody, throw in a Less Paul to the mix and what do you have???? MAGIC! !! Thank you! !
Thanks Philip! It was a good one to do and to use the Les Paul for the middle part to.
brilliant Steve
Thanks !
Thanks for your sub my friend ! nice weekend🔆 😎🔆🙏Stay connected 🔆🌈🌹
Thanks very much
lovely sound my friend! you play great!
Thanks very much!
Enjoyed this, Steve, as you say it's a lovely melody. I liked the sound of your Strat - very clean, sweet tones - in total contrast of course to the Les Paul. In my book the Strat will always win out, but I can see why you used the Les Paul in this instance.
Sounded great bro, loved the Les Paul in there too. All the best
Thanks very much Ken appreciate it
Nice one Steve, loved the L.P bit in the middle !
Thanks Tony appreciate it
Nice one Steve... well played, I agree with your comments about the 'fuzz' guitar on the original
Thanks Geoff, yes the solo never really felt right to me but some people love it! Its a strange one, but good fun
Great choice and fantastic playing Steve. Really like the use of of the les paul, sounds very very close to the original solo. 🎸
Thanks Max it was good to use the Les Paul on this one for that part, made a nice change.
