I'm happy with metal Poppy. I definitely enjoy pop Poppy, but pop metal Poppy hits better. I've been listening to death/black/doom metal for 20+ years and I don't know what it is, but shit hasn't been this catchy since Snot and SOAD.
@@Carquar I as well have listened to some of the ugliest and heaviest music for 30 plus years now.
I feel like Poppy harnesses more influence from bands such has KMFDM, Skinny Puppy, Ministry, NIN, Lords of Acid, Genitorturers and possibly even Snake River Conspiracy and The Sneaker Pimps in some capacity shape or form.

@@mouthwaterin True! Bear in mind the band are obviously faking it too. Maybe the guy’s playing some lead licks - it’s intentionally hard to tell as they conceal a lot of the syncing with the crazy flashing lights stuff.

I'm almost 50 years old and I love Poppy 😍 Being a Gen Xer, you'd think I'd have wanted to see her with Jane's Addiction and The Smashing Pumpkins but I decided that I just wanted to see Poppy on her own as the headliner. The crowds at those shows have not shown up for her and I want to be part of a show with people who love Poppy!!!

She is awsome live! Wish she was less relying on backing vocals for her unique sound. Would be cool to hear her experiment with a looper live, or bringing some live backing vocals instead, like she did in one gig i heard on UA-cam.
I believe that she is singing live here as well, but she sings above backing tracks at the exact same tone, to achieve a certain sound with her vocals (and possibly cover up imperfections).
Its a shame because the little cracks and imperfections is what makes a live show real and intimate, thats the magic if hearing an artist live :)

This is so good! The lighting, the pyro, but she's lip syncing! It ruins it all. Even if she's only half as good live, I'd rather rock to that than pay to listen to the same thing I can get on YT. However, if she's actually singing live, please ignore everything I've just said because she's clearly very very veryyyy awesome live!
it can be very damaging to the singers voice is they are constantly singing every day, that’s why most singers do lip sync on tours
I heard some movement in her vocals when she physically moved so i hope it’s not?
She absolutely used to do this. Not so much these days. If you notice the "lip sync" bits are where there are backing vocals involved. Lots of Poppy's music had multiple layers, she is talented but she can't do two voices at the same time! So she has obviously picked one vocal and let a backing track do the other part. There was a gig for the Flux album release where she had a backing vocalist on stage and the backing track has basically took over her roll as I don't think she was able to make the tour.
After hearing some live shows on UA-cam, I think that she does sing live - but theres a backing track in 90% of the time, in The exact same tone. Its cool but a bit overused, so it makes songs sound like a reverbed version of the recorded track, rather then sounding Live
