A rock musician, myself, I was only introduce to "Poppy" very recently. I think the first song, that I heard, was "Concrete". My initial reaction was like "WTF am I listening to!? Nu-metal? Industrial Rock? 70's hippie pop? Kpop/Jpop?". It was very refreshing and I absolutely fell in love with her music almost immediately! I love the genre bending. The use of tension building and release after the bridge in "I Disagree" was spot on and catchy/orgasmic. One of her other songs uses tension throughout the entrie song, I think intentionally, and it never releases... even the end just leaves you hanging like "WTF? That's it?" But I like that originality and that it creates an emotional response. As an ad: I got "Queen" vibes from "Concrete" as well. Musical minds think alike.

She was inspired by the japanese anti-idol / alternative idol scene. Check idol groups like BiS, BiSH, KAQRIYOTERROR, SHINGEKI... and you'll understand. It also explains the japanese in one of her songs. She has her own style, sure, but the mix of genres in inspired on japan's anti idol/alternative idol scene.
I am surprised you didn’t pick up on the subliminal whispers or vocal parts that blend in with the music. Almost every song on this album has them. Drives me nuts trying to figure out what she is singing. 😊
I feel like in bite your teeth that sound that kind of switch’s the mood of it is like someone taking a bite out of an apple or candy or something idkkk
The thing you said about a person being three different people, Halsey said the same when she released her album manic, it was something like this : "There's an ancient saying that you have three faces, the first one you broadcast to the world, the second you show to those closest to you, and the last one you never show to anyone. The first one is Halsey, the second is Ashley, but the is a third that exists in the cracks between the two, the most carnal, uninhabited explicit flash of color hiding in the center of my chest. I am Halsey, Ashley and I'm offering you a glimpse of that third face..." ps. Sorry, if I made any mistakes, English it's not my first language.

The beginning of "Sick of the Sun" reminds me of the opening guitar chords of Louis Tomlinson's "We Made It," which in turn sounds like the start of Bowie's "Space Oddity."
23:02 The background voice might be Titanic Sinclair, who was poppy's old career partner. They have split since then, though (as he was abusive), but I may be wrong about if that is his voice or not
Hi!! During ‘I Disagree’ you asked if she was Japanese: She isn’t, however I think that she included the singing in Japanese to pay homage to Baby Metal (a girl group who was doing something similar in their music a bit before Poppy).

you still need to listen to the deluxe version! imo the songs actually add to the album and the ending 'don't ask' doesn't take away from 'don't go outside'.
I Disagree is even better with the added context of her previous albums
HOW DID I MISS THIS I LITERALLY REQUESTED IT LMAO
SHE IS SO GOOD LIVE CONCRETE WAS LIT
Thank you for doing this album! This one surprised us all and despite the dramatic change in musical direction it’s been received very well. ^_^
omg thank youu for this reaction!! I love youu
Aurora, Aurora, Aurora next. Or Grimes, Grimes, Grimes next or Bjork, Bjork,Bjork, Bjork next.
Grimes plz
Grimesss
AROURA
She was inspired by the japanese anti-idol / alternative idol scene. Check idol groups like BiS, BiSH, KAQRIYOTERROR, SHINGEKI... and you'll understand. It also explains the japanese in one of her songs. She has her own style, sure, but the mix of genres in inspired on japan's anti idol/alternative idol scene.
GRIMES
YES
miss anthropocene!
yazzsz art angels!!!!
PLS I AM BEGGING
Art Angels is such a producers dream
I am surprised you didn’t pick up on the subliminal whispers or vocal parts that blend in with the music. Almost every song on this album has them. Drives me nuts trying to figure out what she is singing. 😊
I feel like in bite your teeth that sound that kind of switch’s the mood of it is like someone taking a bite out of an apple or candy or something idkkk
her music has GOTME FUCKED UP, i dont understand it yet i am so intrigued by it, it makes me feel so much so quickly, its amazing and freaky as shit.
The thing you said about a person being three different people, Halsey said the same when she released her album manic, it was something like this :
"There's an ancient saying that you have three faces, the first one you broadcast to the world, the second you show to those closest to you, and the last one you never show to anyone.
The first one is Halsey, the second is Ashley, but the is a third that exists in the cracks between the two, the most carnal, uninhabited explicit flash of color hiding in the center of my chest.
I am Halsey, Ashley and I'm offering you a glimpse of that third face..."
ps. Sorry, if I made any mistakes, English it's not my first language.
Thanks for this, the odd cancelations in frequencies from the audio and your mic made some details pop out way more than usual. Don't change a thing, it's like a decoder ring for music. 👌
Poppy or (the person behind her) loves bon Jovi, and she loves My chemical romance, she says they are major influences for esthetic especially nirvana
The “tape switch” on bite your teeth is actually someone taking a bite out of something.
We need a reaction to SOPHIE - Oil of Every Pearl's Un-Insides!
YES YES YES YES YES
Rip
i listen to this album the most while doing work, it gives me energy without having to drink coffee through out the day.
WAIT WHAT WHATT I LOVE YOU AND I WAS JUST LIKE OH LET ME SEARCH FOR A POPPY REACTION AND YOU POPPED UP YAY😗❤
that was awesome! thanks for making this video. if you have some extra time you should check out the deluxe version of this album that just came out "i disagree (more)" it has 4 new tracks!
I haven't seen alot of love for the EP choke in these comments, I'd highly recommend.
Actually if you react to the deluxe songs maybe throw the choke ep in afterwards to have a decently longish video
@@TransTrekTnerd I like this idea 🙏💥
Thank you for reacting to Poppy
Love this song
Love her so much ♡
The beginning of "Sick of the Sun" reminds me of the opening guitar chords of Louis Tomlinson's "We Made It," which in turn sounds like the start of Bowie's "Space Oddity."
The background vocals for fill the crown I believe is her friend Chris Greatti. He’s in the band blame candy. 23:12
May I suggest Petals for Armor by Hayley Williams??? 👀
Such a well done and a well produced album
Yesss
Yeah!
PLEASEEEEE
23:02 The background voice might be Titanic Sinclair, who was poppy's old career partner. They have split since then, though (as he was abusive), but I may be wrong about if that is his voice or not
This album is a beautiful nightmare. Forgot how hard poppy brought it omfg
Hi!! During ‘I Disagree’ you asked if she was Japanese:
She isn’t, however I think that she included the singing in Japanese to pay homage to Baby Metal (a girl group who was doing something similar in their music a bit before Poppy).
Please react to Turn Off The Light by Kim Petras, it’s inspired by Halloween, you’ll love it! Love from Brazil 💓
No she works with r-pists
@@user-tw5gu2yh8s she has a limited amount of people to work with, unfortunately. Not a lot of people will work with a trans person, which is totally unfair. She’s doing what she can, no need to put anything on her
Nss um br aqui finalmente ❤️
@@shenelll985 That's no true, she willingly hire two rapist to work with. Being trans has nothing to do here, she called kesha a liar
@@alecmrg0114 and? Live with that,is her opinion
This album is so great. Reminds me of the quote "from destruction, comes creation" just burn everything down and rebuild.
When you said “that’s like Marilyn Manson” is right when his uncredited background vocals come in 😂 he added some background vocals and direction in a few places
I missed the notification cause I didn't see it, but as soon as I saw your video I immediately played it!
Welcome to the Strange and Amazing World of Poppy.
Please feel free to chill and lose control at the same time. 👁
