You know it’s incredibly funny how holmes was originally the one to call Romani sus and then it turns out Romani was trying to help all along but just hiding facts, then this time Goetia tried to tell us there was a “traitor” yet that traitor (Holmes) ended up sacrificing himself just so he won’t hurt us in the future.

He intentionally kept himself from the truth so that he could stay with Chaldea, his loved ones, because the realization of his true role would have made him turn against them. He was protecting Chaldea and himself from himself. However, I doubt this is the end for the greatest detective of all time. If servants are based off their life stories and legends, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle planned to kill both Sherlock and Moriarty off in the "The Final Problem". However, he later revived Holmes, (despite Watson's assumption) and brought back the killed off Moriarty, but in the "past". (A.k.a events before the battle at Reichenbach.)

No matter what he was summoned to do, he picks to side with us even if he has to die! he is no traitor!
But the question remains; what was he summoned to do? And why do I get the feeling it's worse than trying to destroy us?
Well, technically speaking, siding with us means he is still a traitor. It just wasn't us he was betraying.
@@mizu7662 Indeed a traitor he was, to the Alien God, also he was on the humanity side, even if that meant killing himself to do his part. But just like in the books he will certainly return from the fall.
He basically pulled the same trick as Moriarty in Shinjuku: Erased his memories so he could grow fond of us and take our side. If his sleeping memories had awoken under other circumstances he would have betrayed us in the exact same manner, or at least that's how he said it here. On the other hand, given the heroic nature of the "good" Moriarty in Shinjuku he might have offed himself just like Sherlock did here, had he learned of the plan beforehand. They really are two peas in a pod, huh.

The Foreign keep making bad calls. It pick skill people but completely ignore their humanity.
Wodime asks it to bring back the the crypter causing us to have Pepe and Kodac in the deck. Even Hinako join in. Beryl might screw up but it gave us Morgan (who will save us multiple time over). Then there is Daybit. Not to mention Wodime have been on humanity side from day 1.
Then it use Holmes as a sleeper agent who go and off himself for our sake.
It weakness is it didn’t the noblest of humanity. Shitty part? Sure. But certainly the concept of self sacrifice is beyond it understanding.
In fairness, Holmes finding out would have obligated him to serve her, since she's his true Master. That's why his memories were sealed off.
The only reason her plan was screwed is because the Foreign World sent Young Moriarty to LB 6.5 SPECIFICALLY to take Holmes out to screw with the Foreign God's plan.
Well, if its/her introduction is anything to go by, the Alien God is an absolute NOOB in judging a lot of things.
Not that it doesn't make sense, though, in the case it/she really IS an *alien* creature. Literally _EVERYTHING_ about Earth would be new to it/her.
And remember, the Alien God is NOT necessarily Beast VII, more like it has fused with its Spirit Origin in order to manifest, just like it has with Olga Marie's body. _(still fucking _*_pissed_*_ at how it/she insulted Olga Marie's body during Olympus)_

I am almost sure our homie Holmes, will come back, he "dies" like in the books, but, he comes back.
So the theory that Holmes is a traitor is true. But...I'm not feeling good after this revelation..Even Holmes himself felt that way...Even if he was summoned by Alien God, he was fighting for Chaldea after all. He was our ally and friend.

Interesting seeing Old Mory knowing that his younger self had just lost. Like this was the reason why he didn't try to beat Holmes...it was a pretty big conceptual weak spot.

I think it might be in the lore, that they are both "supposed" to die at that waterfall, and now that holmes is dead so too will he follow suit

@@PhantomCard it seems instead of being fused with Der Freischütz this incarnation is fused with the three Norns that spin fate and life. Originally James and Sherlock fought themselves off the waterfall to there deaths but holmes essentially had his death reconned so that moritay was the only one to die. In this instance holmes should had the advantage but but since he has the power to alter fate he used that to win. Which was a big mistake on his part because the moment holmes went over the waterfall was the moment moritay’s story also “ended”, conceptually losing the ability to alter fate.
A big “won the fight lost the war” moment since his other objective was defeated Chaldea which he forgot about in that moment

That explains his Ruler class. He was meant to control the other apostles. However, since he was a Ruler he was able to fight back against the control and temptation of the Alien God. Holmes was the one person we wondered this whole time on who he was. Now that I know he is gone, I am upset it ended that way. Why Holmes!

He tried to. But Holmes realized it and decided to prevent it by letting himself "die" and fall over Reichenbach Falls. Whether or not he succeeded is in the air though, since the Alien God has been shown to be able to revive people.

He's dead for the sake of one thing: Stopping Alien World to take over Chaldea, to stop Ruler Moriarty to take over Chaldea and change the course of humanity because the alien world want to fight the Alien God.
He willingly choose his death because to defeat Moriarty, he also need to die, just like how they both fell to their death in Reichenbach Falls.
That's Chaldeas Sherlock Holmes, ironic since he became his false identity, of one fighting for the sake of justice instead of the truth, whether it is wrong or evil.
I don't care if he's sus. He is trying to be on our side even to the end, even his original being is mean to betray us. For that loyalty and memories, he is still part of Chaldea.

Plus this is Reichenbach Falls: In the Sherlock Holmes books Holmes faked his death at Reichenbach when everyone thought Moriarty killed him.

@@extracelestials4368 It's in the works now, I believe. RDJ didn't continue it at first due to his contract with Marvel. But seeing that his character is gone in a snap, he can go back in making the sequel. Hell, he even suggested Johnny Depp as the main villain in it.
I was prepared to be disappointed, yet the Holmes reveal was perfect. It answers all the questions the plot struck up, and it was very much solvable with info we had like Moriarty using the memory erasure trick in Shinjuku and the repeated question of who summoned him.

So its safe to assume that Young Moriarty was never actually against us and that he made a grave error regarding Holmes. Considering that Holmes never died at Reichenbach Falls in his stories, its very likely that he didn't die here. For all we know, he could be playing the longest con. You would never doubt the detective; reason why Old Moriarty told his younger self he fucked up. Of course we would believe our long time ally who helped us all the way to this way would make a selfless sacrifice. We haven't seen the last of Holmes and Moriarty knows this.
Moriarty was an apostle for the alien world that wanted to kill Uolga so yeah
Young Moriarty is against us, because he wanted to take over Chaldea for himself to defeat alien god without regard for earth because he is an Apostle to the alien world, Holmes foiled the plan by stripping Moriarty off from his Composite god power (fateweaver) through realising the fate of Sherlock Holmes and James Moriarty, that is to false a Tie in Reichenbach Falls.
On my side, i was thinking that "fucked up" might connect to the lore.
Moriarty's journey actually ended when both goes to the Fall, when Holmes faked his death, reason why Old Moriarty never take Holmes down this whole time is because he knows when Holmes reaches "his demise" it also means that Moriarty also carry the same fate, thus ending their story. When Young Morty killed Holmes and let Holmes actually died, that means the concept of "Sherlock Holmes" journey was also stopping at that very moment, leaving Young Moriarty a different path to walk which may result Old Morty to never exist.
Think like this, Moriarty's true goal after the whole concept story is to beat Holmes, and that concept story set the final moment in a very specific chapter, Reichenbach Waterfall, that also build Moriarty's personality to that Old Morty we know. Finishing it sooner might create the butterfly effect that Young Morty will never meet his known character as "James Moriarty" from Doyle's work, leaving Moriarty's character a hole that is supposed to be filled by his only Rival through out the story. It affects Young Moriarty narration for lacks of enemy figure, thus end him as not the same Moriarty as the old one.
Old Morty said Young Morty is fucked up is because he made a conceptual mistake of actually letting a probability to cease his own existence as the infamous "James Moriarty" (because eventho it's only a few book/chapter, maybe like only 2 or 3 that talked abt Moriarty in Doyle's novel, all of them even the implicit offscreen detail were heavily affected by Holmes's movement and thoughts, it proves along with the original intention of Moriarty character that he's really made to be the Holmes power rival)

The Alien God should REALLY chose ppl better: almost everyone they trusted either betrayed them or helped Chaldea to a large extent (even Yaskaya chose to trust in our victory). If their only (remaining) plan is to fight against Chaldea AND ORT directly at the same time, then no wonder why everyone is so sure that we will win. The only trick they may have left is to force us and ORT to fight first.
There is a theory that Foreign god is man made beast to forcefully speed-up humanity ascension. it would make sense then that it's not omnipotent can onyl use things known to humanity and is falible/imperfect/makes mistakes or is designed to make certain mistakes. Even material heart of the foreign god says "The heart of a savage demi-god. A god is a god, even if it's a fake. Its heartbeat emits many curses."
Wodime, and by extent the Apostles, is really that terrifying in retrospect now that I think about it. If only one were to be revived by Alien God, the chances of betrayal and rebellion would've been so low that our chances of even winning is beyond zero as that will make the 2 of the Apostles less Sympathetic to humanity through apathy or deletion of their own records and instead focus completely on supporting the Alien God without doubt.
Like Rasputing saving and by extent helping the Crypters, or Holmes working with us.

So, this Sherlock is the one before he gained compassion. The one appearing in all but, Doyle's last few Sherlock Holmes stories when he decided that Holmes needed to be able to feel, that he needed to be human.
so a holmes ruled only by logic and making "logical: choices? as much as i hate to say it (and please holmes fans forgive me) but if holmes was going to "revert" back to that version of himself, perhaps it was best he did what he did.
Huh? No, Holmes was rude in the novels and doesn't like his intelligence questioned by the dimwits of Scotland Yard but he is sensitive to human emotions and a lot of times he shows emotions too. He's not robot detective, he's simply logical enough not to stray from the truth of mysteries.
I might be wrong, but the reason that most Sherlock are "him before compassion" is that his later stories aren't yet in the public domain, Doyle's Estate still has control of those (At least until next year)
The character himself is in the public domain but those characteristics aren't, so other people can't use "post-compassion Holmes" without paying royalties to Doyle's Estate

@@Crozeph1 I'm referring to the version from Doyle's last few Holmes stories, the ones not yet in the public domain. He was a lot more compassionate in those. I believe because they were written after Doyle lost family.

Exactly my reaction. I'm now going to ignore this LB as much as possible until it comes to NA, I don't I'll be able to handle anything more than this. Hell, I couldn't handle the temple of time without crying, so it probably won't help, but still. No need to borrow trouble.
So crackpot theory based on some other things I've read in the comments. What if yes holmes dies here, but the first apostle of the alien god DOESNT. Theres been theories both joking and serious about how holmes outfit is close to that of the foreigner card. Also during the fall his hair is showing to be more blue (this could be just the art however. Lastly as told in the stories of Riechenbach falls holmes doesn't actually die here. So what if this was his way to let this persona go dying while we harbored no anger towards him, knowing it will just be brought back by the AG possibly ending up as a foreigner version of himself. Leading to the final battle where we will actually have to kill him.
Expanding on your crackpot theory: What if Holmes doing this essentially allows the two halves to separate and operate independently. Holmes goes over the falls while breaking his self-imposed memory seal to bring his other half forward, "killing" both himself and whatever entity the Foreign God fused him with (likely a Foreigner of some sort). Foreign God revives the Foreigner half to fulfill its intended role (I feel like they wouldn't have censored it if his role was already fulfilled, hence needing to revive it in the first place), keeping the original half "dead" to avoid further setbacks (or maybe it just revives itself w/o the Foreign God's aid, could also work that way); meanwhile, after some time passes, Sherlock himself revives and returns to fight his other half, now free of the Foreign God's influence. Leading to the final battle: a Sherlock mirror match, Foreigner vs. Ruler, traitor to Chaldea vs. traitor to the Foreign God.

If there's something Reichenbach Falls and Sherlock Holmes together tell us, is that he doesn't die there even when everyone think he is and it seems impossible for him to have survived.

Doyle is the writter of Sherlock Holmes novel , and IN-Novel , Watson is said writter. So in short , "Watson" is a pseudonym or nickname for Doyle.
So Old-Man would be Doyle , and Young would be Watson.

Kinda worrying who and what Chaldea will lose next in the next LB.
Self-termination might not even be that crazy of an idea. I have read a theory once that said that Chaldea was created to find, create and destroy Beasts of Humanity so that humans could rise to another, higher form of humanity. If this higher form of humanity is the end goal, self-termination of the Alien God (the 7th and final Beast) would make perfect sense!

Hm...if it's the job that need the Unveiler, my best guess is that Holmes's job from the Alien God is to reveal the inner-working of Chaldea itself, exposing Marisbury's darkest secret, and weakening Chaldea from the inside, while also taking control back the sphere which house the true body of the Alien God we were fighting. We end up knowing naught of Marisbury's secret, and haven't taken back the sphere, so it's sure that the Alien God plan is foiled again

Lb6 was the way it was because characters made mistakes, but yet doing what they felt was right. Cen wasn't a cruel god, had he been a cruel god and punished the fairies none of what happened wouldn't have happened. As for Holmes did nothing, I do agree lol

His betrayal began moment he sealed his memories, Holmes did *felt* that he was genuinely good but all his actions where part of the Alien god big scheme of things. The moment he was fighting against Goetia's plan he was also working (unknowingly) for the Alien God, this would continue until the final battle against the Beast VII and you can guess what could've happened if he backstabbed Chaldea in a moment like that
We all know how reichenbach falls incident went, right? I felt that we will fight 'Holmes' on LB 7 as his role is still censored. It could be holmes died but only holmes aspect that died, making other part of him finally break free from Holmes control. Thus making servant 'Sherlock Holmes' obey the alien god.

I rly like the way the story is developing, servants actually dying is one of the best things the later chapters are doing, solomon dying was rly good too. For me it makes no sense for them to appear again, the thing is when they sacrifice themselves it should be forever, it makes the scene more powerful and what comes next more interesting. Seeing solomon again after he said his entire existence was erased is kinda weird and unfitting. Seeing Goetia on the other hand is a good way to get this characters again and be a part of the story, without ruining the whole idea that solomon is gone.

Because of role he has been designated for. He understood that if he was by Chaldea at a time of final showdown he would've unwillingly fight them. And that will do more damage then if off himself... or pretend to. He was summoned by Alien God so command spells and some godly athority, you know
Think of it as being a double agent without knowing you were one in the first place. Being true while fighting for one side without knowing but remembering would make you reveal that the other side is what you must fight for in the first place. If that makes any sense to you

Two reasons,
One, erasing his memories allowed to essentially infiltrate Chaldea without them knowing if he was an ally or enemy, and eventually bond with them whole heartedly.
Second, if he does recall, he will most definitely side with he alien god.
So he was indeed a traitor, but one who was constantly fighting his own destiny.

Lmao, it was FGO that taught me that Sherlock Holmes didn't even know the Earth was round. According to the books, his knowledge of astronomy is next to nothing.
Sherlock isn't all knowing -- he chooses to only learn useful information and completely neglects topics he doesn't deem useful. Seeing him musing about celestial bodies and the cosmos seems dreadfully out of character.
I read that part on the books it was quite the interesting coversation, general knowledge vs knowledge you actually needs/use, he argues that one should know things that one uses/needs, that other types of knowledges one could use encyclopedias from time to time when needed.
It means the other half of him his deity was in elegance with the Alien god. That god part was basically making him know these things
