I was just thinking about how brilliantly subtle this movie is, right from the opening shot, where the camera slowly zooms into Andrew playing drums. Damien Chazelle is brilliant and great analysis! Thankfully more every frame a painting than nerdwriter1
Aah yea that's what I meant, the camera slowly moves in, and reveals Fletcher. Damien Chazelle himself discussed that scene in detail in a video when the movie came out
I am big fan of essay type videos. You must have heard a lot that you sound like Nerdwriter or every frame of painting or frame by frame.. etc. I have subbed to all those channels. I must say you are different from them, you have your own unique niche. M happy to see an Indian essay narrator. keep doing what you are doing. I would like to suggest a topic I like you to consider. "how 3 minute of trailer ruins the whole Bollywood movie." Problem with Trailer these days.
Sujeet Singh brilliant idea! A trailer is meant to be well a trailer that trails the film, but somehow they end up showing every critical bit hashed up in a terrible adrenaline pumping way which is not necessary but it's also that the audiences are used to it and seem to gush down it all and then comment "hit hai boss", it's people like Vinit that are out to make a difference and I second the idea of dissecting what's wrong with the trailers of today! Cheers!
I really appreciate the time you took to dissect that scene. It sort of forced me to stop and contemplate it at a slower pace, which I don't often see in other video essays. I think what I'm trying to say is that you don't have to show 20 examples of different scenes sometimes to get a point across. Focusing on this one exchange and diving into it works just as well, if not better. Great job in my opinion. :)
The format of your video is similar to Neradwriter1 and Every frame a painting. But I must say Great work highlighting good bollywood cinema. Few suggestions 1.Have some better audio device to record the narration, the voice is very flat and not that appealing. Try and have little bass in the voice. 2.Your ideas are great, your research is also good but I felt the scripting of the video is a little bit sloppy.Try to keep it precise with good research material. 3.Use more examples rather than just explaining the theory (like you did the restaurant scene in the above video). Its more appealing that way. 4.and last suggestion use a better title sequence(like Nerdwriter1's coffee mug)......because you are going to be famous soon. I hope you are open to suggestions. Kudos!
Back when I was in 10th grade, I was in the wrestling class. I was only approximately 120 Ibs at the time and underweight. One day early in the season, my collarbone and ribcage became misaligned. My arms horizontal movement became restricted due to the pain. I asked everyone; my coach, my teachers, my parents to help me see a Chiropractor. No one took me seriously. Because of this injury which I was forced to wrestle with or fail the class, I never won a single match. I felt absolutely devastated. I refuse to see this movie because I am afraid of reliving my own trauma. It’s because of this trauma I fail to understand how so many people including Chris Stuckmann can praise a work like this, and because I fail to understand I feel weak, incompetent, and outcast. Sometimes I feel like all the critics are begging me to see it else I’m missing out on something great; the performance of a lifetime. Is it okay to feel deathly afraid of a film such as this?
Whiplash is one of my favourite movies but now understand why i love this movie... because of the small but effective details in the movie u mentioned in this video....keep up the good work..big fan of yours👍
Although I am a cinephile and an aspiring filmmaker I was never able to analyse this film because I'm a passionate drummer too and was always focusing on the music in the movie the entire time.
I am watching your every video one by one and throughout my this lockdown traveling,I have to say that you are a master! -lots of love from vadodara Gujrat ❤️
Keep up the awesome work dude. It's great to know that there's someone out there in India doing these kind of analysis videos. Thank you so much for making these! :) Cheers.
This is really infotaining man... I regularly watch movies.... But never ever realized it like this....! Awesome work. Look forward to see more of ur videos.
Hey, I was curious that you've made a video about editing conversations and didn't mentioned Sally Menke and Quentin Tarantino. Also, have you seen Martin Scorsese's film Whose that knocking on my Door ? It has an unique approach towards the conversations between the characters. Anyway I just love your channel
Whenever I think you couldn't top this video, I find another one on your channel. Great content and research dude. All your videos are outstanding. I wish Bollywood could learn even an iota of film making from you. I've watched Whiplash countless times but never acknowledged the edits. Keep up the good work.
Amazing stuff !!! I really like damien chazelle's films, it reminds me of fincher's work(who i also love) on lighter settings, hope you do more stuff on indian films
My favorite thing about your channel that I think separates you from the many other video essay creators is your inclusion of Bollywood in the conversation. Keep up the great work!
+Nayantara Shah I mean by the way he tries to present his ideas and the ideas that he's trying to coney. The similarity I find their videos stems not from the content, but the meaning behind the content. Also, a little bit of the editing (look at nerdwriter1's older videos and you may notice the similarities)
Guys whoever add the caption please tell them to add the caption properly coz voice is different and caption are different, you can check in this video at beginning.
Brother i really like your channel....your content....i really appreciate the way you help us to understand the minute details of the scene...keep it up. All the best.
Hey Vinit masram, I'm an Animation student.your film analysis is very insightful and educative. Can you do an analysis of one of the Kamal Hassan's movies. I would like to state here some of my favorites "Anbe sivam", "panchathandhiram","dasavadharam", "Vishwarubam" and "hey Ram".
I love the scene in Raging Bull when tension arises between la motta and his brother. You will notice the lens gets narrower as they start falling apart( similar to The Shining bathroom scene).
I'm not sure if it's the editing of whiplash that was good here in the scenes you referenced. It seemed like the composition of each moment was already captured in frame and hence would have been already been envisioned in the storyboarding instead of an after thought in post by the editor. Haven't read other comments, happy to be corrected.
Good video but all the things you mentioned were precreated in the shooting process and I think nothing of it really was saved or drastically changed in the edit... Anynway, none of the aspects above would work without the other part, so
I never imagined there was so much scope for interpretation in movies. You've shown me now and it's a delightful and enriching experience. Thank you
This analysis was downright brilliant. Great work!

+Ujjwal Mohindra the camera doesn't zoom in in the opening shot. It is tracking in with a steadycam.
Aah yea that's what I meant, the camera slowly moves in, and reveals Fletcher. Damien Chazelle himself discussed that scene in detail in a video when the movie came out
i loved watching movies, but your channel is only going to make me understand the art and appreciate it even more. Thankyou.
Agreed .. Whiplash is a masterpiece in itself.
One of my favorite movies

I never knew that cinematographers put in so much effort into making one scene of the movie. That was some serious art! Thanks for sharing.
Prashant Jha not just the cinematographer, the director primarily, and finally the editor, without this holy trio, it's hard to get the right impact!

ohh, man! just 1 scene explained in detail, had this video went on for even an hour, I would have seen it without a pee or a blink.
This is really infotaining man... I regularly watch movies.... But never ever realized it like this....!
Awesome work. Look forward to see more of ur videos.
Great analysis! Very insightful and eye opening, good work.
Thank you for this, hope you'll keep doing more!!! I really like how you narrated the story, I understood and saw everything different... Thank you!
Dude you remind of Nerdwriter and Every frame of painting :)
Whiplash was phenomenal

You deserve to be out there !!! Kudos man. Wish u all the best!
I am spreading your channel everywhere i am going ❤️
You remind me of Nerdwriter1
+Tanishq Desai I'll take that as a compliment.
Cinema Beyond Entertainment Do 'Dil Dhadakne Do' next. That's a gold mine
+Tanishq Desai Curious. In terms of? Editing? or some other element?
+Nayantara Shah I mean by the way he tries to present his ideas and the ideas that he's trying to coney. The similarity I find their videos stems not from the content, but the meaning behind the content. These are really great videos you are coming up with Vinit! Keep them coming. Good work!!
GREAT VIDEO!!!

Brother i really like your channel....your content....i really appreciate the way you help us to understand the minute details of the scene...keep it up. All the best.
you should analyse "The Spectacular Now" for it's long shots. Its all long conversations in single take.
Never thought of whiplash like that
I jus bumped into u this morning seems like i cant get rid of you. Brilliant all of them.
Amazing Explanation!!👏👏
wow pls dont stop amazing us.... keep it up
Man I never saw the depth in movies until I found your channel

Amazing analysis
Great video, thanks!
this is awesome.
Another example could be the backyard scene from Spider-Man 2.
Thank you very very much, i shall use this information. You are doing a great job.
Awesome work .... Looking forward for more stuff
Very helpful breakdown. Thanks Duuuudddeeee
Please Make 'Hazaroon Khwaish Asi'!!!

Man this was mind blowing! Now all these looks pretty doable things. Amazing!! Please accept me as your student😅
Thanks for this video, I learned a lot
Thanks for the analysis.
Brilliant
Great points man thanks
No the foot touching scene scene wasn't necessary to conclude the date, it was just an extension.
great analysis.. thank you
Thank you so much for this! (Y)
Wow thanks for this video
Good video bro...
But not quite my tempo
What movie is 1:49-4:50 from?
Whiplash
You remind me of Channel Criswell
Great work..
Wow
are not these cinematography aspect? camera angles and stuff?
Andrew loves his Carrier it was above all so you may find me arrogant.
Thank you
Brilliant stuff. I would like to know about "summer winter spring autumn" movie
Whiplash is awesome
excellent sir!

You should compare this scene with a Bollywood movie date scene. I recalled a scene of Saif Ali Khan
Why this OTS shot? 4:21
And then there is Ekta Kapoor with all the flashy and exorbitant graphics in simple conversation.. 😂😂
Hey Vinit
Where are you based? Can I join your channel?
SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET.
Vinit where did you get your education from? i would like to attempt to learn atleast something similar.
oohh ending is never ending
pls can you tell nd make a vedio what is wanted by people from acting department of a flim
♥️
Good video but all the things you mentioned were precreated in the shooting process and I think nothing of it really was saved or drastically changed in the edit... Anynway, none of the aspects above would work without the other part, so
Whiplash could've also been a successful romantic movie
Do on anime movies also
Do nightcrawler
analyze inglorious basterds.... I feel it as entertaining, funny, thriller... all at same time and that too with cinematic excellence
Meanwhile Bollywood taking notes....
Wtf now being a director seems harding than maths
make a video on "ramleela" & "baazirao mastani"
Both are excellent in technical aspect but lack of emotions.
to be completely honest it is a bit difficult to hear what you're saying because of the accent, but your videos are great
