It’s a skill visa. You need a skills assessment. Only difference is in 494 it’s an employer who sponsor instead of a state.

Hi Aiya, im 44 plus and i have a positive skill assesment and have a employer to sponsor me under 494, However, they need to start the process by advertising, etc. my concern is that I will turn 45 in March. Not sure if its worthwhile to start the process due to my age. should i be under 45 at the time i lodge the visa or in case if i turn 45 during the processing time...will they cancel it?

It’s not mandatory to provide English prior to lodgement. You can lodge the visa and wife can submit English before the visa grant
