I'm surprised that his childhood home wasn't turned into a historical landmark. His natural artistic abilities got him very far in life after a very tough early start as a young adult. As a train enthusiast myself, it's interesting that he got his inspiration from the train station in K.C. to what we see in the Disney parks.
such a wonderful woman with such a beautiful soul. she must be so tolerable to try and keep a smile on her face with all of the people whom stop by. walt the right person is staying in your old home. god bless her. thank you for showing walts old home.
Another excellent history lesson Jeff! It was so nice that Roberta invited you to the porch to share the Disney history and her family's long connection with the house ❤
I was very pleasantly surprised when she invited us up to talk on the porch. You normally don’t get that kind of reaction from folks who have houses that are visited by a lot of people.
I love that Walt was able to use his joyless childhood to inspire/pave the way for his creation of Disney magic! He has created joy for millions of families over the years- including my own. Great video, Jeff!
I am really surprised that The Walt Disney Company has not purchased and restored these historical sites. Perhaps, the current owners could care less about preservation and are waiting for a juicy payday if The Company ever shows interest. Sad to see them falling apart just the same. Thank you, Jeff!
Another informative video! What an example of a person coming from humble beginnings to being a world recognized name. Had no idea Mr. Disney spent his childhood in K.C. Thanks for the history lesson!
You should visit Marceline Missouri, another town Walt Disney called home. It's a lovely town with a good Disney museum. The streetlights have mouse ears. The theater is where the Disney movie The Great Locomotive Chase premiered in 1956. There are lots of trains going through the town too. You'd enjoy it.
Roberta is such a sweetheart. Awesome host for visitors. And Walt looks so mean dressed as Abe, with that scowl!😠 Maybe the photographer said, "Look serious.", and Walt immitated his no nonsense father..? My middle older sister was a Disney nut too. She had a huge massive Mickey collection, and was once featured on the local Sac'to morning news program, show-n-telling her Mickeys. She passed on last yr August 28th. I've been wearing my shirt in her memory♡with Mickey and the Disney font that reads: Let Your Smile Change The World. Don't Let The World Change Your Smile. Thanks for the vlog, perfect timing.🤘🏼
Amazing that for a child that had no fun growing up.. he created Disneyland for children and adults to have so much fun!! What a great story.. thanks for this video! Once again, you educate and entertain us! Big thanks to you for doing what you do 😊😊
Oh man …. Why is this house not a museum…. Heritage on a scale I can not put into words … as you know I’m loving everything you do . Jamie south of England uk . 🇺🇸🏴🇺🇸🏴❤️
I always enjoy your videos! I’m a native Californian who’s moved to Kansas, so I love seeing the California history you show. It warms my heart because I miss home. Thank you! Maybe next time you’re out this way to visit your son, you could check out all the fun history here in Wichita!? 🤗
The kind lady speaking with people about her home reminding me of the story of Jesse James' mother and her charging to see the home and selling rocks from the grave. Thanks again. As much interest that is shown a preservation committee should help preserve it.
What a great nod to Walt Disney, Jeff! You certainly captured his time in KC. When you think about how he had no joy in the home, how hard he worked and the eventual success that has endeared him to the world for all eternity, you see he was carved into the man he became. He did what he was put on earth to do... follow his wish upon a star... exactly what he had wanted for everyone. "When you wish upon a star... your dreams come true...". (It's actually your North Node on the astrology chart...he understood the assignment. Hat off to you for the grace you bestowed upon Miss Roberta, she was beaming and proud. Can you start a GoFundMe for her to get to Disneyland? You have clout, let's make her dream come true. Perhaps contact the Disney Company. ❤
WOW, this was really very interesting. I wonder if Walt's pursuit of *fantasy was spurred on by his no-nonsense upbringing. Thank you for the interview, the highlights of his *business, and personal past, and his pursuits. I hadn't known that much about him, Jeff. a great video 👏🤠🎥📽
Nice to see parts of my old neighborhood of the sixties and seventies.😊 Just two streets over from my favorite Cousin's home. Feeling nostalgic and just realized "Jeff" is walking my hood 😊 I attended fourth grade at DA Holmes School and got caught in the epicenter of the KC Riots April of 1968.Thanks for the video. Brought back many childhood memories.
My grandmother attended the school about 60 years before you did, when it was called The Benton School, we think at the same time as Walt. She was already a grandmother and a widow by 1968!
I always enjoy content on Walt Disney! I grew up going to Disneyland. It opened 1 year before I was born! Sadly I'm not so sure he would be happy with what has happened with his company
Thanks Jeff, this is the best video coverage I have seen on this house to date. I was there June 4th, 2023 and talked with Roberta. Nice lady. She moved her car for me to take a picture of her house using the Disney family's original 1909 (patent date) Brownie box camera. The picture she showed you (@ 4:00) was taken with this camera by Roy Disney. This picture is part of a three picture sequence all taken the same day (using their brand new camera). One was of the kids sitting on steps taken by Flora and the other is of Walt holding a tennis racket that was likely taken by Roy based on the low angle of the picture (educated guess). The picture of Walt and Walter was likely taken with this camera but on a different day. I have documented historical Disney locations across the country with this camera, Chicago, Marceline, Kansas City, and the Los Angeles area so far. I still have a list of locations to cover. One is the Laugh-O-Gram Studios building once it is much further along in it's restoration. Thanks again for the great video.
I just love this one. You two work so hard doing these vlogs. The detail to history is overwhelming. Poor Walt having to work so hard when he was a child and having to give his dad all his money. I would like to say thanks to Roberta the lady that lives in Walt's old house for being so kind. Thumbs up kids!
Great video! Hope you enjoyed your visit it KC and you got some tasty bbq! There's a group trying to turn the laugh-o-gram building into a museum! Also if you're interested in learning about one of Walt's best friends and business partners Ub Iwerks, I've got a video on my channel about him
You went above and beyond, Jeff! I've never seen anyone cover this area the way you did. Fantastic job! It looks like perhaps it was a nice area back in the day.
Walt Disney really left a huge legacy on this world, so much for not amounting to anything 😂 I didn’t know he had a fascination with Abraham Lincoln, I do too. Great 👍 information on Walt and his life, thanks for taking us along with you Jeff. ❤️Jodie 🇦🇺
@@jbenziggy Jeff, I've been a fan and subscriber for years now and have went back to watch the older videos so I'm caught up, haven't missed anything yet. Thanks again.
So cool. I visited the house, Benton grammar school and the old laugh O gram building myself on a road with some buddies last year. Roberta didn’t come out to talk to us but she did give us a friendly wave from the upstairs window. So cool you got a chance to talk to her.
Thank you, Jeff, for another wonderful episode on Walt Disney. I live in the area. I'm only about 20 some miles away from Kansas City and one of these days. I have to take a ride by some of those places in downtown. I used to volunteer at the train station that you visited. That was considered the new one. I also understood that the restaurant that was there, Which was still going when my mother was a little girl. In the early 60s, he ate there sometimes. Thank you so much for giving us a great tour, and what a wonderful things to see. Thank you so much. for showing all these wonderful sites.
Hi Jeff and Sarah thank you for very informative and interesting video about Walt Disney hometown. I thought all the buildings were beautiful. Miss seeing Sarah and we are looking forward to next Sunday history lesson and enjoy your week and god bless you. Love and blessings Larry June and Laurie
I don't know how you do these but keep it up. First time I have seen someone present Disney as an ordinary person like most Americans. I was glued and Ms. Roberta was a very nice lady. Your research is second to none. Thanks!
I used to live abour 30 miles from Marceline, Missouri, and my mother in law lived in Marceline. I've seen the Disney farmhouse many times. Now live in the Kansas City area, and have seen the home you're talking about.
Really interesting history that no one covers, glad to see you are going cross country with your show, there is so much neat history in the states that people never hear of.
Thanks Jeff for this video about Walt Disney. I watch your videos as I am able to, but I don't comment very often. I should, I know. I'll start commenting more. But I really enjoyed this one. It's a step away from your California videos but refreshing and good just the same.
Walt would not recognize Disney any more. What a shame. I grew up with Disney, and loved Disneyland . Now it's no longer what Walt had it intended to be or stay. Thanks for your work to take us back when it was great. Thanks!
It's Sunday !! Whoot ! Whoot ! You know what that means.....It's History Hunter Day ! I have seen many vlogs about Walt Disney but none have gone to such depths as this one !! So enjoyed this walk thru Walts past. So sad with how expensive it is to visit the parks these days. Used to be a place families could afford. Would love to see the Disney corporate preserve those historic buildings in his home town. They could certainly afford it. Thanks for another great history lesson Jeff !
Love it!! Thanks so much for watching again, Suzanne. Love you enthusiasm for our program on Sunday. Something tells me that Disney has gone so far left that they probably don’t revere Walt Disney who would probably be rolling over in his grave over what is being produced by his company these days.
what and awesome video Jeff I loved Walt Disney growing up on Sundays it was the Walt Disney show the family would settle in and watch with some popcorn and enjoy the evening thanks for sharing you brought back some memories for me thanks again
Thanks for showing this. I have visited and seen other videos on Walt's Marcelene home but none about his time in Kansas City. The shots of Union Station brought back memories as I worked in there for a week with a train that was touring the country in 1970. Thanks again.
Great video as always Jeff. As a kid who grew up in Florida we loved Walt Disney...... I think I said the same thing or another Disney video you've done 😆. Neat to see the photograph of your mother and Walt again. Anyway great job really enjoyed it and as always thanks for taking us on the adventure.
When I was a kid going to Disneyland was a highlight of the year. When we left I felt such depression. Glad I don’t feel that way when I leave as an adult! Lol. Thanks for weighing in. I always enjoy hearing from you!
Simpler time gone by Jeff, you could see alot of Walts hometown buildings in the Disney theme parks. Maybe you could do some history on Hal Roach & the little rascals, that would be a blast from the past. 👍👍👍👍👍🥰
Thanks Jeff for the history lesson on Walt Disney. You do a great job on teaching history. Have you ever done anything on the native Americans i New York. I been reading about the Mohawk and the Mohicans. Its very interesting Thanks.
Always enjoy your vids...I'm in Iowa. Been all over California. Be at Sequoia next month. I enjoy the California vids the most due to the migration. Hope you had barbecue in K.C. The best next to Memphis. Safe travels.
*Love the picture of your Mom and Walt!*

He most certainly paid his dues! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
The 1910 US Census shows 8 year old Walter Pfeiffer living with his parents and two sisters three doors down at 3022 Bellefontaine.
Thanks Jeff, Sarah & Son for a walk thru Walt's history! Amazing what you come up with each week Jeff, thank you!
I love that Walt was able to use his joyless childhood to inspire/pave the way for his creation of Disney magic! He has created joy for millions of families over the years- including my own.
Great video, Jeff!
Glad you visited our city! I really enjoy your videos! Thank you, Jeff.
My pleasure!
It's less than a mile from where I live! I can't wait to meet you soneday, Miss Roberta!
I am really surprised that The Walt Disney Company has not purchased and restored these historical sites. Perhaps, the current owners could care less about preservation and are waiting for a juicy payday if The Company ever shows interest.
Sad to see them falling apart just the same.
Thank you, Jeff!
They aren't so much interested in reality.
Thank you. This episode certainly humanized Walt Disney and showed how he incorporated a lot of his hometown in Disneyland. I loved it.
Another informative video! What an example of a person coming
from humble beginnings to being a world recognized name. Had no idea Mr. Disney spent his childhood in K.C. Thanks for the history lesson!
Robeta, what a gracious lady to allow strangers to gawk at her home.
That's awesome that the homeowner is so cool about people coming by. Not everybody in a famous house is so friendly.
True. I was not sure if I was going to cursed or chased off but Roberta was great!

Yeah I went there in 2008 before I started this channel. Interesting place!
There's an amazing picture of Disney at KC Union Station holding bags before his farewell train trip.

She was very open and I am grateful!

Awesome episode! So cool to see that picture of Walt and his buddy on his street. Great work!
Glad you enjoyed it!
The hard ships is what made him gr8😢 you wonder, what if he had a happier beginning and alittle money what could have happened.😮 a great video Jeff.😊
Great job, Jeff. We really enjoyed this!

Very interesting back story about his younger days. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you Jeff for this Walt Disney tour of Kansas City his childhood home. The places he worked. Very very good 👍 Thanks for sharing 💯👍👊

So much fun history!
Nothing better than a nice cold glass of lemonade 😅

If it wasn't in such a bad neighborhood, Disney could have made it a mini museum about Walt when Disney was a moral company.
I foresee a time it could be a museum! And the brick building is supposedly being restored but it takes gobs of money!
Wasn’t always such a bad neighborhood!
111 years ago when my grandmother lived in that neighborhood, it was very nice and safe @@debbiebrewington7635
My neighborhood. Not so bad.
It is sad to see the condition of the neighborhood. Thanks for sharing the Disney history.
Thanks for watching!
A great review of Walt's surroundings during his formative years. I wonder if Walt would have believed that so many of the buildings have survived.
Thanks Jeff for the Walt Disney tour👍👍👍
I appreciate you choosing to come along!
Thank you!! always look forward to watching your videos☕️
I'm so glad! Thank you too!
Great tour!
Thank you! I’m happy that you enjoyed it.
Hello Jeff .. Walt can't touch your autographing hobby. Really enjoyed today's episode.
Thank you Jeff! I always appreciate the insight and education you provide! Have a great week!
Thanks, you too!

The Best Disney History video I've seen out of any Vlogs, I hope Disney fans help out the nice lady living in the house now, ❤
Thank You Jeff for another great video. Always learn so much from your videos.
Love learning about history.
Excellent video! For reference its actually pronounced Bell fountain. I know, its not spelled that way.

Back where laugh o gram was the 1st building there were houses behind his studio. He let mice out in the alley outside the back door.

Hello Jeff, Thanks for sharing your travels and sharing the life and times of Walt Disney what a fantastic story. Have a wonderful Sunday!
