I've had this exact same thing happen with both of these codes and the same lights after heavy rains ever since I bought my RAV4 in 2006. The dealership never properly fixed it while under warranty. Have replaced O2 sensors a couple times and it always comes back when there's a heavy rain. There's something else to this issue.
The sensor and wiring are underneath the body and can get wet. What happens to electrical parts when they get wet? They short. You can try encasing the wiring and connectors with heatshrink to keep moisture out.
i saw a data sheet, these engines have a timing chain every other year, where as the 1zz fe always had the chain . I like the Rav4 and am thinking of getting one with the 4cylinder, but only if it has a chain
@@Merryfrankster_ I am wondering in your experience the 2.4 has as good of a life span as the 1zz fe ? my corolla has 270k and runs compression of 190 in all cylinders
@@johnmcminn9455 No, 2.4 is not as good as 1zz. 1zz from 2003+ can go over 200K without burning a drop of oil. Every 2.4 starts burning oil well before that.
@@Merryfrankster_ ok thank you. What water pump would you recommend for the 1zz fs it seems there are several that have O ring and gasket, then some that have only O ring . It the dealer O ring essential or will a good after market like Beck Arnley do the trick ?
No there were no drivability issues. It just seems that the P0136 somehow triggered a P0606. Possibly this was caused by a short in the ehater circuit that led to an abnormal voltage level o o the ECU? Just speculating. In any case, replacing the sensor cleared both codes.
Curious... Should I buy OEM sensor? I did [many years ago] earlier on and the O2 sensor [was not cheap] in my case was near the firewall on 1MZ-FE... Murphy's Law... The most difficult place to remove it. LOL
I always buy authentic Denso sensors. They are the same as OEM. The bank 1 upstream sensor on the 1MZ (facing the firewall) is relatively easy to get to from under the car.
Watch out for low price "fake" Denso sensors on Amazon or EBay. They are sensors that include the word "Denso" in the description but if you read closely they are from another manufacturer.
Have the same issue and same codes. Gonna replace the o2 sensor before the ECM,this vid helped a lot thank you🙏🏼
Thank you for watching and for commenting.

@@Merryfrankster_ I have been searching for this answer for over a year. Thank you!
This is exactly what happened to me. Would this result in power loss? Mine is quite bad, engine is having a hard time in the highway
Check if your brakes are seizing up. It might seem like your engine is not making power, but the issue is the brakes are fully locked.

I don't know what you saw or where you saw it. Every 2.4 has chain

@@Merryfrankster_ yes I looked at the list wrong, the V6s have Timing Belt and the 4 Cylinders have the Chain starting at 2002

Were the original engine codes accompanied with erratic engine performance such as misfire and loss of power?

Did you use Autel for All Toyota car diagnostic?
I do have Techstream. Autel has everything included in Techstream, and easier to use.
@@Merryfrankster_ Techstream is a pretty good software, Did you work more on Toyota cars?
Look at my channel. You'll see what I work on mainly. @@eriksony6398
