Is This The Best Modern House in California? (House Tour)

- We visit Goktug Sarioz in Saddle Peak House in Topanga, California. Goktug is the founder & creative director of a creative studio based in Los Angeles. He has worked on blockbuster franchises and TV shows worldwide; creating trailers and marketing for major studios, brands, and broadcast networks.
Designed by Michael Sant, Saddle Peak House is a secluded retreat in the Santa Monica Mountains overlooking the Pacific Ocean. It offers a sublime and timeless place within the wild part of Southern California that has existed for generations but which very few have experienced. The site includes a main house with three bedrooms and two bathrooms and a detached studio over the carport.
In the main house there are two bedrooms with a shared deck facing the rock and the pool. The living room, dining room and kitchen fill out the other wing of the plan with views of the Pacific to one side, and the pool, rock and studio to the other. The living room and kitchen also have adjacent decks that overlook the hills and ocean.
The house explores several contrasting relationships - heavy vs. light, transparent vs. opaque, rooted vs. floating - that combine to create a sense of balance and encourage an immersed experience of nature.
The house is quite modest in terms of interior square footage but the experience of the mountains and the sea is almost overwhelming. The house blurs the boundaries between inside and out with giant sliding doors opening onto three decks and allowing the mountain breezes to pass through.
Let us know what you think of this fantastic house in the comments below!

equally as beautiful as the architecture; the owner's appreciation ♥️
True, it's rare to see rich people with humility. Much appreciated.
This man appreciates everything about this house, nice to see someone so humble.
One of the most beautifully design house I've seen in 10 years, its sophisticated and yet provides a simplicity
I’m with you!! I’m a builder and architect at heart and I see so much passion in the build and design for the location.
I can see why he fell in love with it, very serene.
That is what Architecture should do, make us fall in love with it, make us better, calmer, more grateful.
@3:50ff beautiful craftsmanship in blending the concrete and steel.
The attention to detail and the use of materials makes this house unique. Michael managed to nestle the building perfectly in the landscape while also seemingly paying homage to the LA Case Study Houses of the 1940s and 50s.
I love his delight in his home, that’s awesome!
This house is 100% perfect
When this house was originally featured a couple of years back, I saved it as one of my favorites. It still is that for me and look at how they are developing businesses!
Man after my own heart-cool house and cool vehicles. Love the air-cooled Porsche. The house is so calming. Great place to relax and leave the world behind. Looks like a well-fitting leather glove.
What a beautiful place. And really like the owner attitude and admiration, “I am the custodian of the house”
You are incredibly fortunate to live in such a fantastic property. I am envious.
What a fantastic house. Congratulations to owning this beauty
California is an amazing place.
Now, that's architecture.
A space that grounds you and makes you feel deeply connected to it. 💯
So glad that he could finally this beautiful home. Thank you so much for sharing.
Thank you for watching!
This wooden texture on concrete... I just fell in love with it
love the story; the pursuit, relentlessness and persistence of the current owner to be a custodian of such a beautiful home.
A little detail I love, there are no roof pipe vents or anything penetrating the flat roof. That shows an attention to details
So beautiful. House and landscape work beautifully together ❤
WOW!! Beautiful Masterpiece! I couldn’t handle living there!! GORGEOUS!!
This house is a piece of art.

A fabulous life living in that space - thank you for the share!
Love love the shuttered insitu concrete walls, big step up from typ masonry or precast in aesthetically appeal, leaches into the house to provide plenty of thermal mass.
Quite perfect

In my head, I replaced the Jeep pulling in next to it with a Studebaker Avanti💭. Fantastic house.
Can you please give us a tour of winter house.
The band Jungle did one of their video in this house
Yes they did :)
I watched your video because I fell in love with this house when I saw it in Jungle’s video.. I was like : perfect house, privacy, nature, clear lines, simple materials wood and concrete, not too big not to small, the view and the LIGHT 🌞 Breathtaking, you must feel so good inside, so peaceful warm and beautiful ❤
Yes! Thank you. "House in LA" I think?
I love mid-century modern.
My Father Was An Architect and I've looked at a lot of houses. This is a stunning home- congratulations.
beautiful house in a beautiful location. Enjoy my friend ❤

That is a spectacular property. Enjoy it!
If 007 ever wanted to retire in SoCal, this would be his house!
😂
That woodwork is amazing 🤩
Indeed it is! Thanks for watching.
Beautiful. Be great to see a floorplan
If you Google it, it pops up - I found them
Spectacular. I’d love to experience it as well. What a dream.
Looks like a "House in LA"
Persistence pays off. What an incredibly designed and well thought out house. The only thing I would change is the large concrete wall on the west side as it blocks a lot of the ocean view, and not so much aggregate around the pool. Looks awesome. But not very practical; especially for young guests.
Wow, I love this house. It's so beautiful and tranquil. 😍❤️❣️
Beautiful. As an LA resident, I’ve been told you need your own wildfire plan if you live in Topanga. Wondering how that works here. Love this home!
❤❤❤
Do I see it right? No wooden framing on the sides? I would love to see its drawing!
Man, this is Truly Amazing! I think this would be my house of choice as well! I Love It!
Fascinating
Wow. Just wow. Love that you had to wait for it too.
Lovely. He seems nice. Good for him.
Wow! Gorgeous home, congratulations on acquiring the home after years of trying. This gives me modern Frank Lloyd Wright vibes.
Congratualtions on keeping your eye on the prize - and seeing it through until it became a reality. Well done.
Man o man what a beautiful pad!
I’m here for the cars
Love love love this house.
Stunning ❤❤
