Thank you very much for this video. Very informative and easy to understand for a person like me who never owned a car. I have been trying to buy my first car in a very rural area where you can't survive without a car. I have been looking for a reliable and affordable used car but they are still expensive - except those that say rebuilt /salvage titles. I Googled those terms but didn't fully understand the significance of them. You explained so well.

Good advice, great explanation. I have purchased rebuilt cars before without a problem. The price has to be right and you need to be shown pictures of what was done. Look at the quality of the work exc. I actually purchased an insurance totaled car and rebuilt if for my kids college car. He's put roughly 80K miles on it so far and it's still going strong but he did get in a couple of fender benders with it. I don't think I'd do that for a re-sale as the risk of the buyer coming back to me. My brother bought a Covette he rebuilt. It had less than 1,000 miles on it and he did it for a driver as like you say, it won't have the same re-sale value and never be a collector. Sometimes someone with more money than experience buys too much car for their ability.

Now let's get one thing straight. Not always is the damage. Total total, as in the car miles will be crushed a lot of times it is because the damage to the car exceeds the price value of the car and the car could be totally drivable and totally fixed. It's just gonna cost more to fix it than it is what it's worth. I know this because it has happened to me. I had a suburban had mild damage to it. But because the 2 doors would have been structural plus where one of the dense was was rusted the damage to well, the repair cost cost more than what the truck was worth hence total loss. Do your research first And what the insurance company considers totaled as if the prices are 75 to eighty percent of the car's value For example if your car is worth the four damages five thousand dollars and the damage costs to repair it is anywhere from Thirty five hundred 24 thousand dollars They will total it out

You are correct. In general if the insurance company feels that the repairs will cost 75% of the car's value they're going to pay off and salvage it.

Is it okay to buy from a small used car dealership if they say they applied for a rebuilt title, but they're waiting on the state to send it? Or should I stay away?

So dealers do pay a bond and they’re probably legit. I would more or less just say if you feel comfortable with them go ahead.

How can we tell if a dealership is official or good business I keep going to low quality dealerships who try to hide flaws

Well how old are the cars you're looking at? Are they "hiding" flaws or presenting the vehicle in the best light? I would always ask to take the car to be checked out or bring a mechanic with you to look it over. And if you're looking at "rebuilt" cars which was the video you were commenting on I would say it's pretty hard to find one that doesn't have some proof of being rebuilt. Thanks for watching the video!
