I saw him once at Nintendo World Store in Manhattan: the line to meet him was a several hour wait, and I got there late. By the time I reached the front of the store, he was already leaving, so he just walked past the rest of the crowd and did his voice over and over again. He walked past me and said, "Hey, nice tattoo!" in the Mario voice.
We’ve left the bling bling wahoo era and entered the Wowie Zowie age.
"wowie zowie" is what I say when I'm achieving climax
That Arlo impression KILLED me lol
0:27 Some people under appreciate or don't know the fact that Charles Martinet was the voice of Mario for 32 years. It's just that his voice didn't become well-known or mainstream until a couple years later.
I wouldnt want to do it either anymore. Imagine being the voice of mario and not being the voice in an animated movie.
I still want to know on exactly who's decision it was to NOT have Charles Martinet voice Mario proper in The Super Mario Bros. Movie. I don't care if Charles Martinet is still in that movie, he didn't voice any of the characters that made him popular in the first place. Like seriously, Giuseppe? I don't remember Giuseppe from any of the games, not even the really obscure ones.
Big names = people see the movie. It's a pretty obvious decision from the perspective of a film studio.@@andykishore
Arlo impressions are so good, he has such a style of speaking hahaha
He also was Micheal Douglas's father in the David Fincher classic "The Game" He is shown in those creepy sepia toned old home movies, including😅 when he leaps off his roof in slow motion flashbacks.Hust image Here I Goo Wah woohoo Yippe Ohhh Noo (Ba ba ba ba buh bah buh 📯) So weird.
That rude Mario with attitude impression at the end was magnificent... hardest i've laughed today.
It cracks me up whenever you bring up Arlo, but I must assure you he is quite clean! XD
They may have every possible recording made of this man's voice doing Mario, but if Japan is in charge of these files...you just can't underestimate the incompetence at large Japanese corporations. Not the technology itself, but the people managing it. Files will have been lost, deleted, corrupted, forgotten about and unable to be converted after new tech was brought in, otherwise tampered with, you name it, it can easily happen when there are far too many lemmings managing a database, headed up by some terrorizing jackass of a supervisor barking out knee-jerk decisions Because He Can. Been known to happen. Let's hope all of those clips are in good hands...
I like how they try to argue using an AI for Mario's voice, but if they went through with that logic, then they would of had the Charles Martinet sounding Mario voice in The Super Mario Bros. Movie. But I guess the AI gave up on that movie too, huh?
That smelly puppet was right lmao 😂
Charles Martinet's Mario voice is goofy and cartoonish, but also iconic. Even the new guy in Wonder is doing an impression of him, so you got to wonder why they decided to replace him.
A couple days ago an interview came out with Charles Martinet and asked what Mario Ambassador means and he said he didn’t know
So people think Nintendo pushed him out of the role
@@thefonzpart That would make sense. I saw a different interview from a year ago, and he didn't give any indication that he plans to step down from the role.
@@thefonzpart Why? It sounds like he just retired, he’s almost 70. From everything we know it sounds like he’s keeping the door open to doing events as and when he wants and feels able, but doesn’t want to be at beck and call to Nintendo to have to loudly aspirate “wahoo” across a thousand takes in 10 hour recording sessions in old age.
now I want to play wiseguy Mario typing
Looking forward to Tim Allen in the Wario movie
Gosh he's been voicing mario as long as I've been alive! I find the trade show Mario a little disconcerting 😂. I never got the opportunity to play Mario Teaches Typing. I feel like I missed out.
I'm always here for one of Frankie's impressions, they're just so darn good!
I will always have soft spot for Lou Albano as Mario, but Martinet just brought more energy to the character, which is welcomed in fast paced plattformer or funracer. One funny thing about him, you can watch all the Martinet interviews from most recent to 20 years back and he always gets asked the same two questions: how did you become Mario and what is your favourite Mario game. To the former he always gives the same spiel about his audition and to the latter, the anwser is always the most recent game (which is code for "I'm old and I don't play this stuff")
Fun-fact: in the original japanese release of Mario Kart 64, Wario isn't voiced by Charles, but by a german employee of Nintendos german branch and he says stuff like "So ein Mist" (this is crap) when getting hit.
I didn’t know that I needed to hear an Arlo impression😂
I remember hearing the "Yahoo" part and the "Wa ha" part when I played Super Mario 64 all the time. And I'm-a tired of playing Super Mario 64. I also played Dr. Mario 64, and I heard the "Whoo Hoo, here we go" part in this game, and I remember hearing Queque music when I played Dr. Mario 64. I always love Dr. Mario 64 and its Queque music!!
The voices ruin some games like Super Mario Advance. Having to hear lucky lucky lucky lucky 900,000 times makes you insane.
Mario doesn't need a voice.
Mario doesn't need a voice, let alone the stereotypical, high pitched voice he has.
as an Italian myself i wondered if he ever came to Italy
I can't help but wonder if some of this was motivated by Miyamoto declaring Chris Pratt as the best voice for Mario.
A cavalcade of impressions in this clip, haha!
8:49 made my day lol
They probably got his voice AI
I feel Nintendo stabbed him in the back denying him to play Mario in the first Mario movie ever .
I think if Mario had a high pitched Italian accent the whole movie, you wouldn't be able to make the movie they wanted to make, which is one where Mario has a real character with personality and depth, rather than just a mascot character.
Oh no. I really like Martinet in the games and all, but having to hear his Mario for an entire movie would be torture. Also it wasn't the first Mario movie ever. :P
It's a over 😬
I hope his voice isn’t going out cause it can’t be enough work to have to want to stop for that reason.
It's a no longer me as a Mario 😢
It's a me *frankieo*
I thought he retired a while ago lol
"Retired"
Of course, Nintendo in their Twitter X post has the hardest time using the simplest words that make the most sense. Just say "retired." Don't write some drawn out crap like "stepping back from the recording booth."
I lol'd hard at "Jeffrey Dahmer's apartment"
You did voices for Mario, Luigi, Wario and even Arlo but no Waluigi voice. WHY NO WALUIGI, FRANKIE!?
You gotta give the fans what they want...and they want Waluigi.
He calls himself the voice of Mario but he was in all the worst Mario games. Its like when Kane Hodder appears at every comic/horror convention as "the man who played Jason" when he was only in the last few shitty Friday The 13th movies
Could you define the “shitty Mario games”? I do agree with you about Kane hodder though, it’s like yeah he was Jason the most but they’re arguably the worst of the series
@@Possum880 when the average person thinks of "Mario" they think of Mario 1-3 and World, not "Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games" or "Mario Galaxy 2". Mario didn't even HAVE a voice in the games that everyone remembers. Also 90% of what this guy does is just saying "yahoo" and "lets go!", it's not like he even had memorable lines
Good! Martinet was AWFUL.
🤌🤌 I can finally use my stereotypical Italian emojis and this time it’s fitting 🤌🤌
