Be The Light. It was written for the people of Japan after the 2011 earthquake. You need to watch the LIVE version. It’s simply beautiful and breathtaking. OOR definitely are something special.

You’ll definitely love their song “Stand Out Fit In” orchestra version. It’s another song with a great message.
Not just that, but when I saw them in concert, all four of them stepped up to say how much that one song means to them. It's kind of a huge deal to them.

I personally really like the lyrics of “Be the light” and I feel like you’d enjoy it as well. I believe the song was made for an earthquake that happened in Japan so its quite sad. The performance at Mighty Long Fall Yokohama is one of my personal fave :) i
Oh, I thought it was written about the issues we've been dealing with for the past few years because there are several references to issues the world is facing. The one sign that said "I can't breathe" was a clear implication of everyone forced to wear a mask. And the lyrics talk about the broken system we are all living in. I thought the song was about being a renegade for change. I don't know much about the background of the song other than Ed Sheeran's contribution. But either way, it's a great song. Be the Light also one of my favorite songs too.
@@Codametal it could fit with the theme of current issues but because the song was released in 2013, which is way before the corona virus and the earthquake was in 2011, the song probably is referring to those situations. I agree with what you’ve said about renegades regarding change and broken systems, those one are more clearly referring to current events.
@@starfish6550 OH! I thought Renegades came out last year. Gosh, that's when the MV was released and I thought that's when the song was released. My bad. But yeah, how funny how even after 8 years, the issues are still the same! More hope, we need. Thanks for the clarification!

@@starfish6550 No prob! My first exposure to Be the Light was in a Babymetal tribute video to 2 of the girls growing up together as best friends. And I thought it was BTS! Of course, it only took a moment of research last year to discover it was OOR. Then I heard Renegades, and I became a fan. And that song he wrote for one of the band member's wedding, Wherever You Are. Just awesome. Taka has an incredible voice. Lots of emotion and range. The whole band is really cool.
Cry Out, Stand Out Fit In, Mighty Long Fall, I Was King, The Beginning, Paper Planes, and Wasted Nights. You gotta react to all of these live performances because One OK Rock is literally one of a kind band, one of the best for me.

One Ok Rock made this song for the movie Ruroni Kenshin. The beautiful & touching song about the 311 earthquake/ tsunami tragedy was Be The Light. You should check that one out too..

I can't tell you how quickly I clicked to watch this. Lol. I know I was one of the many that suggested this. Haha! And definitely now that you've seen the MV, I suggest seeing his Piano version of it. This is beautiful, but my goodness... that version is so wonderfully done.
I will also still stand by just about anything that they've done that you could react to. Heartache (studio jam session), Wherever You Are (Yokohama Stadium), Bedroom Warfare, C.h.a.o.s.m.y.t.h., or The Beginning. Your reaction to OOR is literally how I was and am with them. I so can't wait to see them in October! Lol.
I also think since you love OOR, you may like his little brother's band My First Story. I finally listened to them at the beginnjng of the year, and fell in love with Hiro's voice, too. From them, I'd suggest listening to Alone, Let it Die, Kokuhaku (告白), Paradox, Missing You, or Underdog to start.

I want you to react to the song “Wasted Nights”
The album "Eye of the Storm", which contains this song, was sold about three years before "Save Yourself" was released, and is the most pop on ONE OK ROCK albums.
But because of that album, I can say that ONE OK ROCK was able to go back to ROCK.
"Wasted Nights" is a very wonderful song reminiscent of a magnificent view of the world and one of my favorite songs.

One Ok Rock did all of the songs for all of the Live Action Rurouni Kenshin movies. The Kenshin movies are great and Renengades was used in the final movie. Beautiful! Just beautiful!

I was expecting to find out these guys were like gen z/early 20s, but turns out they're in their early 30s! That was pretty mind-blowing because they seem so young and fresh lyrically. I'm with you 💯 it brings hope that there are bands spreading this message and connecting to the youth. It gives hope.
I understand what you mean and how you feel about it. I met One Ok Rock in 2014, a very difficult time where I live. But I found his music and gained hope, excitement, and expectations for the future. And a couple of years after BTS. And I regretted not having found them sooner. But, there is a very popular saying among Army, and it is that "They came when we didn't need them the most"... But MAN! If you want a One OK Rock song that has a MESSAGE? You gotta check out Stand Out Fit In from their Eye of the Storm album. Wasted Nights is another from that album that I just adore, but here's the thing. When I got to see them in concert when they toured for Eye of the Storm, Stand Out Fit In is the song where all four band members stepped up and spoke about how much it meant to them. How important the message in that song is. It's beautiful, you'll love it, it'll probably make you cry again, but that's no shame.
Also, because I CANNOT pick just one, I'm going to throw a few older ones at you, because they are still amazing. Mighty Long Fall is freakin' BOSS. The Way Back is so punk, I love it.

If you ever have the chance to go and see them live in a concert, I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND doing it. Their songs hit deeper live and even more if you know the lyrics and sing along with the band.
I got the chance and pleasure to go to one of their concerts during their NA tour this year (its been three weeks since the concert and it still feels like it was yesterday). I usually don't get easily emotional in life but damn they made me shed tears from the first song they played that night. I am not missing any of their concerts from now on when they come back to my city.

This song is such an anthem..I'm going through some stuff personally so I listen to this song 3 to 4 times a day..I even listen to the Japanese version 3 to 4 times a day..
I definitely agree with the feeling about hopelessness and newfound hope. I remember the first song that did that for me, in general, was Black Eyed Peas' "One Tribe". It had come out shortly before Occupy happened, and I was only 19-20 at the time, so it gave me a lot of what I needed then, including so many other songs. I knew One OK Rock in high school, as they came out during my senior year, but why I hadn't heard any of their other songs aside from Re:make is beyond me. I heard Renegades for the first time yesterday, and finally, after almost a decade of feeling downtrodden, after having basically given up, those lyrics made me think back to the days when I was in the streets. Obviously, there were older people out with us kids as well, but you're not wrong when you say it's statistically the young people that are the majority of the ones wanting change and trying to actively do something.
This isn't to say that I've felt completely hopeless with BTS around though. They have so many amazing youth anthems that I wished I'd had back then, but I think I did pretty okay with people like Linkin Park and Otep lol I guess it's more of the fact that I'm seeing more artists coming out with this kind of music again, with BTS being one of the major ones. Because for a while, it seemed like everything was superficial with lyrics, but I'm seeing it more and more now, where the youth, including Millennials, are just...we're more visible, is what I think I'm trying to get at. It was harder after the crash of '08 and in 2010 because most of us were still teens or in our twenties while those working the system were and are still far older. But now that we've grown up, and the eldest of the Millennials are in their 40s, and the younger generations aren't taking any crap, it feels like there's hope for once. When I was 18, from my perspective, the 40-somethings from then have continued to be the asshats they always were, trying to prevent change and holding the youth down. So it feels different now.

I was shocked by the LINKIN PARK commercial that I saw at the movie theater when I was elementary school student.
It's not like "Nice to meet you." because before meeting in Japan, I met Mike at the studio in LA, where we listened to each other's new songs and talked about many things.
When I was touring the US, I always said "I wanna perform with LINKIN PARK" in interviews, so being able to tour with you in the US has great meaning for my life.
