This is Oingo Boingo - this is purely their "sound" - it's got so many of the things you want in a song of theirs. Wonderful. This absolutely should have been on the album. Why haven't they released EXTENDED versions of CDs with bonus cuts. What a shame - it's not too late!
Randy J Good For Your Soul really could have been a double album with how many brilliant songs were written for it, each different and all so distinctively Boingo!
@@OingoBoingoTapes Good point, agreed. They should put out a double album NOW ;) Filled with rarities. But again - not sure why there weren't CD reissues with bonus cuts and demos. So many great 80s bands have done this.
@@randyj420 Elfman once said in an interview about preparing for a live concert of his movie scores, that it was the first time he had really gone back and listened to his early movie scores (Peewee, etc). I think Elfman is a personality type that is always looking to the next project and doesn't really spend much looking back in the past. I read somewhere that when asked about releasing remastered recordings of Boingo, his response was that he felt they did a pretty good job originally. Jerry Seinfeld said that when people ask what his favorite joke is, he said he doesn't know how to answer that. He said it's like asking which breath is your favorite and the answer is 'your next breath.'
Rubellan Remasters is reissuing remastered early Boingo albums and they have teased possible bonus tracks. I'll believe it when I see it, but I am hoping.
Wow, just found this. I bought Boingo when it came out, decades ago. Lost Like This was one of my favorite songs of all time. Hearing this wacky demo version is like stepping back in time and I LOVE it!
Wow! I've got like 4CDs of demos and lost songs and outtakes and what have you, and I never heard this one before. I had no idea it was so old, I only knew it from their last studio album.
This version is almost sinister, they keys and guitar make it so. Plus the echo on the vocals. I’ve yet to find something they have done that I dislike. Do you download and burn the songs? Because I’m drowning not having any of the hard to find, alternate tracks and demos in my clutches.
@@titanicf0g On Boingo, I really like the vocal harmony on the second "lost like this" chorus - it's so rich and complex. Also, the way it builds is great along with the extraordinary instrumentation. But I like the feel and groove of this version better
This could've made for an excellent album closer. It's got a similar feeling to Islands, which should've been NTF's closer too, but that's besides the point.
Man it pains me that no live recordings have surfaced for this proto version along with Waiting For You and Kiss My Ass considering they were actually played live.
@@OingoBoingoTapes there are physical set lists from 1982 and 1983 (which also proved Islands and Treadmill were also played live along with an unknown song called "Monkey"). I’ve been trying to find/collect more photos of them and so far I found another 1981 one with NTF songs and Stand Defeated, the full NYE raincross/palace setlist, a 83/84 setlist with No One Lives Forever, and a 85 one with Same Man and Something Isn’t Right. I just know more have to exist somewhere!
I kind of think about it in terms of addiction or compulsion. 'But I'm getting used to it' 'Dont know how I got here don't know why I stay'. But it's Oingo Boingo so it could be about anything.

the bad audio quality peaking whenever danny goes “OHHHHHHHHOHHHHAIII” is somehow really haunting and fits the nature of this song to me
I'm begging...I need every oingo boingo song in existence idc how shitty the quality is 😭 bro this is like a drug
Been collecting these since the late 90's from friends of friends of friends. Such a trip to have them all here on YT now.
I know right? I'm hooked and need to consume as much Boingo-related content as I can.

I prefer the Oingo version of this song ,but this isnt bad
I always liked this track on their last album, but this version is SO FUN!
i love boingo but the fact there's never been something like devo hardcore is so soul crushing.
I just love the complexity and tension of these chords

Better than the original Boingo's Version
I love both of 'em, but I feel like they both convey different feelings if that makes any sense.
