Watching Charles go from relative obscurity as the voice of Mario to being widely known and beloved has been a joy. Thanks for the decades of memories, and for helping make Mario what it is today!

Much respect to Charles and Miyamoto for making my childhood a grand one. And a special thanks goes to the teams behind the scenes doing the technical yet beautiful work on each Mario game.
Was hard to not tear up seeing this. This man's iconic voice was the first video game voice I'd ever heard growing up, and I'll always remember those moments of joy. I'm sure the next Mario VA will continue to be wonderful too, far beyond Wonder. Charles, thank you for all you've done.

"Hey,its-a-me. Mario."
He's either dying or they wanted to replace him for more voice acting range. Regardless, they will still take care of him. And thats lovely
True
he is still pretty capable of doing mario voice, the problem is probably that he will eventually need to step down anyway, and instead of waiting for that eventuality nintendo decided to take care of it earlier
You can tell this man is so proud of what he has accomplished, as he very well should be. Thank you Charles for everything you've contributed to such a beloved video game franchise.
Truth to that. Charles and Miyamoto are kings. 👑🏆
Much love and respect to Charles! He's getting the best of both worlds; he can continue to voice the characters he helped shape, but he also gets to retire and see the world, going to conventions to meet fans like he loves to do. Massive respect to Nintendo for giving him this role!

The fact that, in the video itself, he did the voices perfectly shows that he wanted to leave on his own accord and that Nintendo didn't push him out of the role. They love and cherish him as we all do and thankfully none of those previous speculations had any merit. Hope you're having an amazing time in your new role, Charles!
How? The man barely has to do any work at all he has like 15 words per game and less than that. They are 100% forcing him out. Since the mario movie came out and was such a success they now needed a voice that is universal with all the new mario show crap they are going to he dumping out on the public. They didn't want a movie mario and a game mario. And as much as everybody liked his voice it doesn't work for extended storys. If the mario movie was a flop this guy would still he voicing mario.
