      Is the dummy plate casted/ covered by the concrete

    • @ianconstruction
      @ianconstruction  Рік тому

      When casting Concrete, we remove the dummy plate. We only keep the bolts open. Later when the Concrete has set properly, we bring the dummy plate and fit it in the bolts then tighten it with the nuts

    Thanks for this video sir. By the way sir grade 15 concrete has a mix ratio of 1:2:4 and grade 25 concrete has a mix ratio of 1:1:2

    • @ianconstruction
      @ianconstruction  Рік тому +2

      @Dee900
      Concerning Concrete grades with their prospective mix ratios,
      To make concrete we use CEMENT, SAND, AGGREGATES and also water which are mixed with a certain ratio and concrete is cast and put in a square cube and then put in a water for 28 days and afterward, it is tested in a compression testing machine. The compressive stress result is known as the “grade of concrete”. It is expressed in N/mm² or Mpa
      Example: G25, Its doesn't matter which mix ratios you make so long as you attain the required Compressive strength
      Mix ratios differ from location to another, what matters is the grade
      The quality of sand is the one that dictates the mix ratio due to the silt content in the sand.
      Good Sand has low silt content in it and vise versa.
      When you put sand in a transparent test tube and pour water and then stir, leave the mixture to settle, there will be three layers. Sand at the bottom silt in the middle and water on top
      If the silt content is high, you will need to add more Cement.
      First confirm the silt content of Sand in your new location or different country of your new project before following mix ratios that are taught in class.
      On some occasions, sand is washed to reduce the silt content in it.
      In summary, mix ratios differ in different countries due to the difference in the quality of Sand in different countries or locations.
      Your mix ratio is correct in your country, it will change when you move to Vietnam or to India or in Philippine. [what is important to note and untampered with is the grade of Concrete]
      Does that answer your question sir?

      As an Engineer, I will always prefer the use of stone dust which is coarse aggregate crushed into an almost powdered form. Using this most times eliminates the risk of silt and clay that can be sometimes seen in some samples of sand. This will also help increase the compressive strength of concrete. In my country, the Government prefers to recommend the use of stone dust especially when constructing 600×600×150 mm Lined drains for Roads. The lesser the presence of silt and clay in Sand to be used for concrete work, the stronger the concrete will be. Cube Tests can be used to determine the set of concrete cubes that would come out stronger (that is those that sand was used to form the concrete and those that stone dust was used). A compressive crushing machine can easily reveal the strength of concrete cubes after curing in water. Concrete gets to maximum strength after 28 days.
      Well-done, nice explanation and video.👍🏽

    • @ianconstruction
      @ianconstruction  Рік тому +1

      Yeah true, I agree with you 100% Engineer
      Stone dust will create a stronger bond with cement after setting compared to sand
      Thank you for taking time to share your knowledge and experience with us, I do really appreciate bro

    Bolt placement is off the main reinforcement.. On my opinion it should be 50mm in, so as the plate base area cover the crossectional area of the civil column

    • @ianconstruction
      @ianconstruction  Рік тому +1

      While casting Concrete for the r.c column ( I mean the short one - the stub column)
      And also the ground beam, we temporarily place the plate in, so as to avoid mistakes. We maintain diagonals at every stage. What is important is to ensure that the plates fit properly
      Then the rest, such as as T section columns, primary beams and secondary beams are fabricated on site. They are fabricated following what is already built, we cannot follow the plan or drawing when doing the metallic fabrications because maybe masons might have made a mistake of 2mm or 5mm etc that might bring problems when fitting so what we do, we fabricate everything on site.
      I hope it helps, in case of any clarification that you may need I'm available

    Very nice video and information...can you please inform what is the section you used for the steel columns , primary beams, secondary beams and angle bracings??

    • @ianconstruction
      @ianconstruction  Рік тому +1

      For steel columns, we used T Sections
      For primary beams, we used T sections
      For secondary beams, we used T sections
      For bracings, we used the angle bracings or what we call the angle bar
      did that answer your question, let me know!
