Thanks for the content, we always like watching Matt in the combine and other tractors because he’s always upbeat and doesn’t mind the camera too much.
I enjoyed the video and footage from all angles, as well as the other information that Matt shared. He’s a natural with the camera too. Really enjoyed it.
Good to see Matt back on video. Its amazing how much the corn has dried out in 3 weeks as I have been following the progress of this farm. Keep videos rolling 👍
It’s been 95-100 every day. It has footer toasty. Double crop soybeans will be ready to harvest early this year. Thank you for following the harvest on BTP.
Is this the same crew from last year with all the big new JD's and the big Kinze grain carts? I maybe thinking about a different crop but I remember those big JD's and the big Kinze carts. Time is money and you have to have equipment with large coverage capabilities. Just imagine having to do this field by hand????? Hundreds to a thousand people to do what a few machines can do in a week. Just amazing.
You know in the beginning of the video when he’s just filming from the drivers perspective of all that corn it it almost was kind a like hypnotic I could see how you could easily stray away if you didn’t have auto steer and it’s great to see Matt again
This is one of my favorite videos to date and I've been watching and subscribed since fall of 2014. It's been great to watch the channel grown and progress over time. It just keeps improving. Thank you for taking the time all these years to make these videos. They certainly don't go unappreciated👍
this was a good video, i really like when we get the follow the driver and get a more detailed picture and oversight of the operation. We are harvesting oat in Norway now, could use some more nice weather its suppose to rain at sunday. temperature is between 0 degrees celsius up to 17. would be nice to had the summer last longer 🙈😂
It was a good crop this year. Soybeans are going to be a bit light this year. There has been no rain for almost a month and the beans are drying up fast.
BTP, do any of these big farms in your area use a mother bin ? I saw a video where big farms like this would have a mother bin for the grain carts to dump into and then the truck drivers would load out of the mother bin. The mother bin is basically a grain bin on its side with tires. I think it would make a good video if you ever see one.
Both drivers have to match their speeds. New GPS programs are available to allow the combine to control the cart tractor but this farm has not opted for that feature yet.
Here's how we do it: The tractor driver comes along side the combine and matches the combine's speed (4.0 mph for example). The tractor driver then holds that speed for the duration of the unloading. The combine driver can better see how much is in the cart and will periodically slow down or speed up to move the auger forward or backward, ensuring that the cart is evenly filled. He can also talk to the tractor driver if a change of plan is needed (CB or walkie talkie).
pretty nice looking ears considering how close to the tree line it is. Do those carts have scales on em where the cart driver knows that this thing is full or does the combine operator tell him on the radio?
The cart has a scale but the combine will pile as much on a possible. It is up to the combine to know when the cart is full. At the truck the cart uses the scale to fill the truck to the right weight.

BTP, in one of your videos not too long ago, you told us how long it takes this impressive farm to plant 13,000 acres of corn. How many days did you say? I’ve been rewatching a bunch of videos trying to find it, but haven’t had any luck. Thanks!!
Thank you for watching. It took about 3 weeks this year. There were no rain delays this year. They run 6 days a weeks 7-12. Each of the five combines covers about 150 acres per day.
@@iamatt568 Thanks, Matt... really appreciate your quick response. That's just amazing how quickly you guys can plant 13,000 acres!! So much faster that our small farm here in SC. Keep up the great videos!!
My kids will farm where all of the material coming out of the combine will be sold. It's not feasible everywhere yet. But it's coming. The only thing that will stop it from happening is 15% interest rates.
@@iamatt568 so the grain cart maintains a consistent speed then. I thought I'd heard a tone in grain cart tractors suggesting it connects to the combine. Any thoughts and thank you for your response.
It seems like the corn yields turned out great this and I thought with the wet beginning to the season they wouldn't be. Good for the farmers if the price is right.
The grain carts stay around 3 or four years. Normally 3 get traded and then the next year the last one is traded. In 2018 they had three 1105 and an 1100. This year they gave four 1105s.
Where I live, fields arent even close to this size. Ground in our area is bringing low end of 12,000/acre. I want to meet a farmer who can actually bank roll purchasing that big of chunk of ground!!!
I'm from the State of Delaware on the east coast. Some farmers near us combine corn pulling a giant cart behind the combine. The debris is shooting out the back of this contraption the combine is pulling. Does anybody know what this is? I also saw a tractor pulling a big cart dumping the whole cobs in a giant pile of nothing but whole corn cobs. Our state is overrun with chicken houses. Most of our corn goes to chicken feed in Delaware. Just would like to know what this contraption is farmers pull behind the combines. Thanks for the awesome video!

Video @ ua-cam.com/video/TjyHxvd6d4Y/v-deo.html The Eastern Shore of Delaware and Maryland is a big canning area for sweet corn, green peas, lima beans and potatoes.
No, It's regular field corn. Regular combines are pulling these things. Only a few farmers do it though. The contraptions are a pale yellow color. If I see a farmer using one I will ask him what it is. Wherever I see one there's an area in the field with a huge pile of corn cobs. These are dumped by a separate tractor with a raised side dump wagon. Just like the separate tractor at the 4 minute mark in your video.
This is the fellow from Delaware again. I figured out what the contraption is that the combine pulls. The corn goes into the combine and gets shelled as usual. Then the empty cob goes into the big contraption the combine is pulling. Next the remaining husks are stripped from the cob and spit out the back. The cob then goes into the holding bin. Now the tractor comes with it's big wagon and the combines big contraption dumps all the cobs into the tractors wagon. The tractor then dumps the cobs in a giant pile. Then the cobs are hauled off site and shredded for bedding for the chicken houses. Serves as a good base for the chickens to run around on as they are raised. Our states major commodity is chicken. Learn something new every day! Only 2 farmers are doing this so it's just catching on.

Demco makes a 3,000 bu in field bin that would be neat to film. The farm’s here just fill their trucks direct.
I went back and looked at the video I saw on a mother bin and it was in Australia.
When a combine is unloading into a trailer or bin that's driving alongside, who adjusts the speed to evenly fill it, combine or tractor?
Both drivers have to match their speeds. New GPS programs are available to allow the combine to control the cart tractor but this farm has not opted for that feature yet.
